Day 3- Bowling
Who: Giselle, Tyler, Jun, Katara and Christian
What: Bowling
When: Late Morning
Where: Bowling Alley
Rating: TBD
Status: Completed!

Giselle woke with the pleasant thoughts of Legolas in her head. Their impromptu duet the day before had stuck with her even into her dreams. She smiled dreamily as she sat up in bed and went to the balcony doors. She leaned against the side of the balcony and sang with all her heart. When she had finished her seranade of the entire resort, she resumed waking up.

She showered and dressed with the help of her animal friends and went to get some breakfast at the restaurant. When she returned from a satisfying meal of pancakes and fresh fruit, she saw an envelope taped to her door that she had neglected to notice before. She pulled it off and tore it open. Giselle loved getting messages, and she half hoped it was from Legolas.

But it was not to be. Instead it was instructions about a mandatory activity she was to participate in. She had never even heard of bowling. She frowned, but if she was going to be doing it with other people, she was going to have fun, regardless.

She spent the remainder of the morning, before she had to participate in the activity, redecorating her room. Instead of all pink, she concentrated on putting some silvery and purply threads in the comforter on her bed and in the wallpapered walls. She gave herself a grander vanity and a bigger wardrobe.

She was dressed in a flowing yellow dress when she left her room to go to her activity. Her hair was left down, tucked neatly behind her ears. She skipped as she moved down the hall of the main building toward the door leading to the bowling alley. She stepped in and found that she was the first one there.

She went to the desk and the golem there directed her to a lane after handing her some shoes and socks. She grimaced and held the shoes up in front of her face. "Has someone else worn these?" She whispered loudly to the golem. He nodded and she wrinkled her nose. "Do you have any no one else has worn?" He shook his head. She frowned and sighed, heading for the lane she had been directed to.

Sitting down, she pulled off her sandals and proceeded to put the shoes and socks on. She was horrified at having to wear something someone else had worn. Someone she didn't know, too! Sitting back to wait for the others to arrive, Giselle's attention was drawn to a television set high above her head. It had some dancing pins and bowling balls on it before it cleared and some instructions flowed across the screen.

She read them as quickly as she could, trying to understand what she was supposed to do. The video replayed itself when it finished, and Giselle looked down the lane to the pins standing in formation. She screwed up her mouth wondering just how she was supposed to knock all those huge pins down with just one little ball.

Katara groaned as the haze of sleep drifted from her mind. Had she actually slept in a place like this? Yes, she had. How couldn’t she when her room was so comfortable and reminded her so much of home. She knew she wasn’t home, however, when she awoke. She wasn’t in the Fire Nation, nor even in a village in the Earth Nation. This room looked like any Southern Water Tribe room might, covered in animal pelts with a small fire in the middle.

The strange parts of the room were that there was a patio and a bathroom. When she first noticed it she thought maybe someone was bending the water through to make it run, then she realized maybe it was something similar to what the Fire Nation inventors had been working on with heated water systems. It was far more advanced and complex than anything the Waterbender had ever seen the Fire Nation with before, but she simply accepted it and left it alone. She rather enjoyed the spacious tub, though.

With another groan, Katara pulled the fur skin blanket up over her head and curled herself into a ball. There was no one she could turn to. The only person she had met was Max and a rather impersonal rock… person-thing. She had never seen Earthbending that was so detailed and exquisite before. Toph might be jealous that a planet had usurped her right to the greatest Earthbender. Then again, the younger girl was only the best in the world, not necessarily the universe.

“Okay. I’m getting up.” Katara threw off her blankets and proceeded to the bathroom to attend to her toilette. When she finished bathing, she simply worked a bit of Waterbending skills to pull the excess water from her hair and skin. No use wasting a towel when this was so much quicker. Besides, she was hungry.

A pang of hurt stabbed into her gut not because of hunger, but of regret. Had she already allowed this place to spoil her? There were people all over her world still suffering after five years of suppression and destruction from the Fire Nation’s wrath and she was bathing and thinking through her options of a next meal, anything she wanted.

No, no… She still wanted off this rock, she simply had to pretend she enjoyed herself. It couldn’t read her mind right? Silvery-sapphire eyes scanned her living quarters. Apparently it could. This was useless. She should get something to eat, then worry about a plan of escape.

Katara pulled on her traditional Water Tribe peasant’s clothing and tied her mother’s necklace around her neck. She then proceeded to braid her hair, slipping two beads- one each- onto two different strands of hair to be tied back like loops to her braid. Slipping on her moccasin-like shoes, she deemed herself ready to face a day she thought might prove less than pleasant.

Just as her hand settled on the door and she pushed aside a draped fur, Katara noted a paper of some sort attached to the smooth surface of the wood. Tearing it down she realized it was a sheath of some sort with another piece of paper inside. Lifting the flap she read words in the same writing she saw on the tablet, yet she understood perfectly. “Mandatory? What is ‘bowling’?” She thought aloud. The young woman didn’t know where the bowling alley was, let alone what it was. However, she did know the general direction of the kitchens and decided to eat first. If she was punished for tardiness, so be it. Nothing could be worse than being kidnapped from her true home, from the people she loved.

Katara had tried to test the kitchens as inadequate with her choice in food, but they seemed to have everything- including the best sea prunes she’d ever tasted. It made her loathe the place even more, though. Why should this place make the dish so much better than her homeland chefs?

Yet, with a satiated hunger she was led to the bowling alley by a clay man who looked just like the rock man she had seen the day before, except a different substance. Katara saw one face in the room already- a lovely red-head with dazzling blue eyes and very fair skin, unlike any others she’d seen before. Before speaking to her- as she looked displeased as she busied herself with putting on a hideous pair of shoes- the Waterbender moved to the desk where she was met with an equally disgusting pair and socks to go with it. No wonder the fairer woman looked unhappy, as the darker woman wasn’t exactly overjoyed, either.

Katara sat herself near the other and proceeded to change her footwear. When she was finished she looked at the woman beside her and smiled. “Hello. I’m Katara.” She said as she waited for the other to give her name. She looked nice enough.

Her eyes lifted to the screen above them both and tried to keep track of what the instructions meant while marveling at the moving pictures. This place truly was filled with magick. It must be some version of the Spirit World, right?

Never mind that now. She needed to figure this out. Okay. So the actual action of rolling the ball down the lane to knock over as many pins as possible didn’t seem difficult, but she didn’t understand the scoring. This game should be fairly simple for her once she got the hang of it. Throwing it just right would really be all she needed to know. Waterbending required more effort than it looked like throwing the weighted ball did. “Have you ever played this before?” Katara asked the pretty woman.

Tyler had a pretty bad day yesterday but he had eventually found his room and collapse for a good, solid night's sleep. Part of him wondered if he would wake up tomorrow and find that the whole thing had just been a dream. When the blond man opened his eyes that morning however, he quickly realized that he was still stuck in this wacko place. Things would become even stranger after Tyler got dressed and ventured outside of his room.

His plan for the day had been to track down Brigitte since the girl he met yesterday, Ginger had claimed she was here but those plans were quickly derailed when Tyler found a note on the door. He read it once before crumpling the paper and tossing it on the floor. There was no way in hell he was going bowling! Yet just as Tyler was about to head outdoors he was met by a stony faced guard. Literally, this guy had a face made of stone and he blocked Tyler's way.

"Um, excuse me?" Tyler said rudely. "Wanna get out of my way freak job?" It Tyler didn't know any better he would have said the stone man was glaring at him. After a moment of silence the golem pointed toward the main building. "What? Is this about that bowling shit?" Tyler demanded. The golem gave him a solid nod. "Look, I can't go bowling. I have to find my--" The blond man broke off. He was about to call Brigitte his 'friend' but that didn't quite describe their relationship with one another. It was more of a he wanted to fuck her and she wanted to either fuck him as well or kill him kind of thing. The girl couldn't seem to make up her mind and Tyler wasn't entirely sure he was still interested in fooling around with the brunette but that was not important now. Tyler tried once more to walk past the golem but this time the golem grabbed him roughly by his upper arm. "Hey, what the hell are you doing?" he demanded as the stone man started to drag him to the main building. No matter what Tyler tried, he could not escape that rock hard grip and soon found himself inside the main building.

"Okay, okay", Tyler pleaded. "I'll go bowling. Just let me go". The man's grip had been really starting to hurt so Tyler was relieved when the golem did as he asked. Figuring that he didn't want anymore trouble, Tyler headed toward the bowling alley were he discovered there was another golem, made of clay this time, who was holding a pair of bowling shoes for Tyler. "Those for me?" The golem nodded once as Tyler sighed and took the shoes. "What's wrong with you guys? Can't you talk?" No answer. Tyler quickly put on the shoes and soon discovered he wasn't the only poor sap they were making play this stupid game. Two lovely ladies were sat down next to the lanes, watching a tv screen. It was some sort of instructional clip on how to bowl that Tyler ignored. He had gone bowling plenty of times before growing up and knew how to play the stupid game.

"Hello ladies", Tyler said with a smile as he approached the pair. "Any idea why these guys", he nodded to golem at the desk, "Want us to go bowling so badly? One of them dragged me here". He realized then he should probably introduce himself and said, "Oh, my name's Tyler by the way".

Jun had just stepped out of the shower when he'd heard someone at the door. Wrapping a towel around his waist, he went to see who it might be, but found only an envelope. "Ah, Bowling. I shall try my best", he promised aloud as he read the letter inside.

Not wanting to waste time in the restaurant this morning, Jun poured himself a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios and retrieved a pitcher of cold milk from his mini fridge to eat them with. Once finished with his cereal, he brushed his teeth, dressed in khakis and a sweater and hurried straight to the bowling alley.

Jun had heard of bowling and was aware of the basic concept, but he had never played and was unfamiliar with the scoring. The entire way over, he silently meditated that he would be careful with his super-human strength. He was careful in most things, unless he lost his temper, but this was a new athletic activity.

Entering the bowling alley, he spotted golems, Giselle whom he'd seen around and two new arrivals whom he'd never met. With an excited smile, he bowed and greeted, "Good morning, Giselle! This looks like fun, yes?". He turned to the two new arrivals, an exotic young woman and a young man with blond hair, "Hello! You are both new, aren't you? My name is Ichinomiya Jun, but you may call me Jun". The green-haired teenagersat down and tied on his bowling shoes and watched the instruction video, feeling like this was truely a great adventure they were all in together.

Christian yawned, sitting up and for a second he half-hoped he was back home.He frowned slightly when his sleep-adlid brain reminded him he wasnt, and he quickly made his way to the shower, planning on spending the reminder of the day exploring this strange place.

The sound of something being taped to his door drew his attention, as he pulled jacket on, and peered out in the hallway, spotting one of the weird stone-people he had spyed on his exploration yesterday, placing envolopes on varies doors.

Pulling his envelope off, he read through, frowning. Bowling? What the bloody hell was that?He had never heard of such a thing before. He debated on not going, but didnt want one of those..weird stone people angery at him, so with a sigh, he headed for the kitchen for a quick breakfast, still amazed that the golems served anythinghe asked, before heading towards what he hopedwas a 'bowling alley.'

He was a little overjoyed to see others there as well, he had feared he might have been the only one, and grinned at them, taking the odd looking shoes the golem offered him "Hello all"He greeted, smiling.

Giselle looked away from the screen above her as Katara approached. She smiled at her and watched her put on her ugly shoes, too. When Katara looked up and smiled, Giselle grinned. "Hello! I'm Giselle! Lovely to meet you, Katara. You have such a beautiful name. And you are beautiful, too!" Giselle had never really seen such a beautiful woman before. Dark hair and skin, and such striking eyes.

She followed the woman's gaze back up to the screen, still trying to grasp the concept of the game. When the question was asked, she turned to look at her again. "No, have you? I don't know how I'll ever learn this game." She sighed softly and looked up again when she heard Tyler's voice. She smiled at him and stood up to curtsey. "Hello, Tyler! I'm Giselle!" She grinned and waited for Katara to introduce herself before she answered his first question. "I really don't know why they want us to play this game. It does seem strange, doesn't it? I suppose the Planet wanted us to meet people we haven't met before."

She lifted her hand and looked past Tyler to wave at Jun. "Jun! How good to see you!" She grinned and bounced on the balls of her feet. "It does look like fun, but I have never played. Have you?" She waited for him to get closer and sit down to tie his shoes before she reseated herself and propped her elbows on her knees and dropped her face into her hands. Her head lifted a few moments later, however, when Christian arrived she stood again and clasped her hands to her breast.

"Hello! I'm Giselle, what's your name?" She smiled radiantly at him. She was slightly unnerved to be outnumbered by men, but she was sincerely glad that Katara was there as well. It made the odds more bearable. She sat back down again and looked up as the screen switched from an instructional video to a screen filled with little boxes and their names. Giselle was first, then Katara, Tyler, Jun and Christian. The order of their arrival, it seemed.

Giselle was nervous to go first, but she went and picked up a ball. It was far too heavy and she nearly dropped it on her foot, but managed to put it back on the round holder in time. She reached for another one and decided that smaller numbers on the balls meant that they were lighter. She grabbed one with an 8 etched into it and felt satisfied she could hang onto it long enough to throw it down the lane.

She glanced back at the others. "Wish me luck!" She threw the ball down the lane and missed. Completely missed. Gutter ball all the way. Giselle stamped her foot and scowled. She was never going to get the hang of it. She went back to sit down, but found that her name was still highlighted. She got another chance! She waited for her ball to return before grabbing it and chucking it down the lane once more.

This time she took out one pin on the right side and she jumped into the air and giggled. "I did it! I got one down!" She skipped back to her chair and sat down, touching Katara's arm lightly. "Your turn!"

Katara’s smile broadened into a grin when she was met with Giselle’s exuberance. The woman had an air of never-ending optimism about her. The waterbender was quite good at seeing the good side of most things, but she had no doubts she could never even match this fiery haired woman with it. “Thank you, Giselle. Such an interesting name. It’s quite pretty, too.” She had never heard a name quite like it before, but she did like it.

She shook her head to Giselle’s question. “No. I had never even heard of- bowling is it?- until a little while ago when I found the summons on my door. It shouldn’t be too hard, but it will take a little getting used to making the ball go straight, I’m certain. How about, if I catch on before you I’ll help you with it. and if you catch on before me could you help me. How does that sound?” It seemed like a good idea to make friends and be as helpful as possible. It would be a shame to ever see Giselle in a state of sadness or frustration. Even as the woman doubted herself verbally she never seemed to quite lose her positive, excited demeanor.

Katara kept her gaze on the instructional video a while longer. She understood the concept, though still was at a loss for the scoring. However, she really wanted to know more about the box with the moving pictures. How was that even possible? Her silvery-sapphire gaze left the box in favor of the attractive man who approached with a greeting. After he introduced himself, and Giselle introduced herself, Katara smiled and said, “I’m Katara.” Her eyes followed his gesture toward the things she realized were called golems from the summons. Despite the obvious power the place held, she was still amazed at the excellent earthbending required to create those creatures. Not all of them were made of earth, though. She had seen one that was made of sturdy wood, but it was dry- she knew because she couldn’t feel the water in it- so she knew it wasn’t waterbending that created it. “It would make sense. I’m sure many could be apt to hiding away in their rooms for a while. I only got here yesterday, and already the Planet decided I had better come here.”

The waterbender femme realized that he wasn’t even worried about the instructional video. Had he even looked at it? It was a bit hard to miss. “Have you played this before?”

Then a boy with green hair walked in. Honestly, this world had no shortage of strange looks for people. Blond hair wasn’t impossible in her home world, but it was very rare. Green hair was nonexistent. However, he had such a familiar and polite way of greeting that she had to smile. At least all things weren’t completely uncommon in differing worlds. Katara stood- before he seated himself- and returned the bow to the one who permitted them to call him Jun. His name was actually one she had heard before. If he hadn’t had green hair and a strange bone structure she might have asked him if he were from her world. “I’m Katara. I just got here yesterday.” This one, like Giselle, seemed to have a natural air of positive outlooks about him.

When the next person arrived and greeted them, Katara nodded to him. Giselle saved her asking what his name was. “I’m Katara.” Wow. The Planet really seemed to enjoy beautiful people roaming its surface when it decided who to pull onto it. This entire room was filled with strange and attractive people. Even Jun with his green hair wasn’t a bad looking guy.

Suddenly the screen changed and all of their names were displayed. This must be the whole group then. Katara’s name looked infinitely strange in the strange lettering of this place, yet she knew which names were which. She realized Max wasn’t here with them and thought perhaps there must be more people on the Planet doing other activities. It would have been nice to see a familiar face, like Giselle and Jun’s recognition of one another, but she wouldn’t complain. These people seemed quite all right, and it couldn’t hurt to get to know them.

Katara watched Giselle stand and retrieve a ball, and after a slight difficulty with it before getting the right one, she watched how she rolled the ball. The first toss had been a doomed failure, and Katara knew that she would probably do the same thing, but she was sure to remember how the woman had stood and tossed the ball so she wouldn’t do it quite the same. The waterbender moved to stand after Giselle’s first throw, but then she realized that the woman got another turn and relaxed back into her seat. She thought maybe people got another turn until they knocked out a pin. When the fire-haired woman hit one pin, Katara clapped her hands and grinned. “Great job, Giselle.” She congratulated.

She then stood and searched for her own ball. She lifted one that was about the same size as Giselle’s and deemed it worthy enough. Katara wasn’t exactly well endowed with physical strength. Her endurance was fantastic and she was a great waterbender, which took fitness, but her brother was the muscular warrior of the group, as was his girlfriend Suki- minus the obvious muscles.

She approached the lane. It had replaced the pin Giselle had uprooted so that all ten pins stood neatly in their orders. Katara tried to make her stance unlike that of the way she saw Giselle’s first. Her second stance had been slightly different, so the waterbender would change it a little bit more to try to hit a few more pins than the other woman had. When she felt she was standing well enough she rolled the ball toward the pins with a small burst of strength. The young woman groaned as her ball rolled into the opposite gutter than Giselle’s had almost immediately. The position had been adjusted too much.

Katara inhaled a calming breath, not that she was anxious. She wanted to keep her head clear so she would do better the second time. She hadn’t become a Master in her art for nothing. If she could make water cut through hot air balloons, if she could fight off multiple bodies with deadly accuracy and one stream of water, she could make a weighted ball knock over a few pins.

Retrieving the ball, she tried again, looking straight at her goal and trying to position herself in such a way she thought would definitely succeed. Envisioning exactly what she wanted in her mind’s eye she threw the ball again. The waterbender held her breath as she watched the ball roll over the smooth surface of the lane. Near the end it began to roll away toward the right gutter, but just before it did it crashed into two pins, which knocked over one other and caused a fourth to totter. Sadly the tottering, white pin regain it’s roots and righted itself, a shame. Even though that wasn’t quite close to the closest, middle pin she had still done very well with the awkward sphere, considering she had never played this game before now. The shoes were quite uncomfortable, though, and she wondered if they were hindering her at all.

Katara turned a shrugged, though she felt a bit proud of herself. She was certain she would do even better the next time around. “Well, Tyler, it’s your turn. Try not to show us girls up too much with your first hand knowledge of the game?”

Tyler rose an eyebrow as Giselle curtsied in front of him but kept smiling. She was cute and clearly very, very, very cheerful as the way she greeted him showed. Tyler turned his attention to the dark haired beauty. "Katara? That's a pretty name", he said, unknowingly repeated a compliment Giselle had uttered moments before.

"Yeah, bowling's a pretty regular thing back home", Tyler replied to Katara's question. "When I was growing up half the kids in my class had a bowling birthday at some point so.." he shrugged as he sat down, "I got a lot of practice".

A boy with green hair came shortly after and introduced himself as Jun, to which Tyler simply said, "Hey Jun, I'm Tyler and yes, I am new here. I just woke up here yesterday." Tyler shudder. That had been a particularly unpleasant day and he wasn't in the mood to remember. So far this day was looking far better, even if he was being forced to go bowling but who could complain with two pretty girls near by? A third guy soon showed up and Tyler nodded a hello, "What's up man? You here for a rousing game of bowling too?"

Giselle went first. Tyler couldn't help but chuckle as she put one right in the gutter, especially not after she stamped her foot but he tried to cover it with a cough. Katara came next and Tyler admired her form as she made her first try. "Aw, nice try", he said out loud as her first attempt landed in the gutter. Yet Katara seemed to be a fast learned as her second attempt was greatly improved. Tyler got up for his turn, grinning as Katara warned him not to show them up. "Wouldn't dream of it".

Tyler grabbed a larger ball and tested it's weight. It had been at least a year since he had gone bowling but the blond man knew what he was doing as he stepped up to the lane. He took a breath before taking two lengthy steps , swinging his arm and releasing the ball. It sped down the glossy wooden lane, near the center before making a solid hit that sent all the middle pins flying and leaving two other pins still standing. "Seven ten split", he groaned as he shook his head. Still, Tyler had one more turn and quickly grabbed the ball once it returned.

Getting into stance once more, Tyler took a few breathes before adjusting his stance and taking two steps forward once more. It was a stronger throw this time that was aimed for the furthest right pin. He had been hoping that after he hit the pin it would have bounced and knocked the other one other over but such was not Tyler's luck. The furthest pin on the left remained standing. "Shitty", he muttered but Tyler wasn't too disappointed as he took his seat again. It was still a good score and it helped Tyler forget that he hadn't wanted to do this just moments ago. "Alright boys, who's next?" he asked, looking between Jun and Christian.

“I have never played either, Miss Giselle!”, Jun answered the fiery-haired girl excitedly.

After he had arrived, another came…a dark-haired young man who seemed quite friendly indeed. Jun returned his smile and greeted, “Hello, my name is Jun. What may we call you, Sir?”

He carefully watched the instructional video and thought he understood the scoring, but he was glad that Tyler was familiar with the game so that he could make sure they all had it right.

When Giselle picked up a ball to officially start the game, his heart was pounding through his chest. He was so excited and he wanted her to do well, “Good luck, Miss Giselle!”, he called, when she asked them to wish her luck. When she missed the pins and stomped, he felt so bad, “Awww, it’s okay”, he called, “It was a nice throw…just your first one!”. When she knocked one down on her second try, he clapped loudly, “YAY! You did it! Excellent, Miss Giselle!!!”.

He watched with a smile as the machine replaced the pin Giselle knocked down and Katara took a ball from the rack. When her first ball went into the gutter, he soothed, “The next ball will knock over pins for sure, Miss Katara!”. When she did, the green-haired teen jumped up and down, “See! I knew it!”

The next to go was Tyler and Jun watched him carefully because he knew how to play this game. The blond guy chose a larger ball and he stood a certain way as he lined up to proceed down the lane. Jun watched every movement…and then the release. “WOW!”, Jun exclaimed, “Look at all the pins you knocked down, Mr. Tyler! That was fantastic!”. When Tyler collected one more pin and referred to his score as ‘shitty’, Jun was very confused, but excited jumped up and raised his hand when he was asked ‘who’s next’. “I think I’m next, Sir! My name is next on the screen!”.

Stepping onto the lane, Jun pushed an emerald lock of hair from his eyes and chose a larger ball like Tyler’s. He turned and smiled at everyone before lining up as he’d seen Tyler do it. Then he turned back around and smiled again, “Wish me luck!”, he asked, as Giselle had done. He started down the lane and drew his arm back and let the ball fly…and fly it did. It not only missed the pins, it missed the lane altogether and imbedded itself in the wall above the pins, luckily high enough that it didn’t knock out the lighted border around the pins, but imbedded itself in the concrete wall above it. Jun’s face was blood red when he turned around. “I’m sorry”, he said to them all, “My strength is hard to control sometimes”. He gently selected another ball and walked to the lane and rolled it down. This time the ball went down the right side of the lane before swerving over just at last to knock three pins off of the left side of the line up. This time he turned around with a smile, “Next!”.

"Christian"He said by way of introduction, giving a slight wave, before his eyes flicked to the moving screen, which was giving fascinating directions on how to play this odd game.Soon enough though, the rolling words and figures disappeared and filled up with little boxes that held everyone's names in it, and giselle, what an odd name for a lady of her stature he thought, picked up one of the glitterly looking balls, which looked much to heavy to held by anyone, and rolled in down, missing the little pins completely.

Christian smiled, watching as the next girl followed suit, missing as well, before knocking 2 of them over, he clapped along with a few others, enjoying this game immensely.

By the time the green haired boy, jun had he called himself?he would have to learn to prounce the young man's name correctly, christian realized he was leaning foward, as if there was some secret being shared amoungest them. His mouth dropped open as the boy threw the ball into the wall above the lane's, he wasnt aware one could do such a thing!

He felt all eyes on him, and realized it must have been his turn.Trying his hardest not to blush, he wasnt used to people staring, he quickly picked one of the bowling bowls, pleased to find it was heavy but not that heavy, and stepping onto the lane, lining up as he seen the others do before letting the bowl roll.It rolled fast down yellow 'road',before vering off towards the end, taking out 3 or 4 of the pins with it. Christians eyes lit up,as he took his second turn, only managing to knock down of the pins this time. "Well that was quite delightful"He said happily.

She giggled and grinned when Katara told her that her own name was pretty. "Thank you!" She tilted her head as she listened to the deal that Katara was proposing. "That sounds like a plan!

She watched all the others make their introductions before the game began. When she turned around after her second bowl to sit down, she grinned at Katara and gave her a thumb's up. "Thanks. Good luck!" Sitting down, she crossed her legs and watched Katara throw hers. She frowned and "Awwwed" when it ran into the other gutter. But when she threw it the second time and managed two. She clapped exuberantly. "Wonderful, Katara!"

She watched the woman take her seat and Tyler go up. Contrary to his "wouldn't dream of it" comment about showing them up, show them up he did. He knocked down eight his first time and one more the second time. Giselle was amazed. "Wow, Tyler. That was fantastic!" She clapped for him as well. She missed his muttered expletive and watched Jun take his place.

He was a regular cheerleader, right along with Giselle herself. Giselle grinned at him while he was cheering the others on, but as soon as it was his turn, she returned the favor. "Go, Jun!" Giselle scooted to the edge of her chair to watch him throw the ball. But it seemed to be thrown with a little too much force and embedded itself in the wall above the pins. Giselle's mouth dropped open and she raised a hand to cover it.

"Oh my." She whispered softly. When he took his second turn, she watched the ball knock over three pins. "Contratulations, Jun! Splendid!" She clapped for him as he moved to sit down and watched Christian as he approached the lane for his turn.

"You can do it, Christian!" Giselle cheered loudly. She was enjoying herself immensely and even if she wasn't good at the game, she could cheer for the others. Tyler seemed to be the best so far. She grinned at Christian as he finished bowling, having taken out a few more pins than Jun, but less than Tyler. "Yay, Christian! Great throws!" She hopped up realizing that she was next.

Her turn again. She picked up the ball, and weighed it in her hands before she took aim. She aimed for the center of the lane, but her wrist turned at the last second and sent the ball into the gutter once more. She sighed, but then shrugged and took her second turn. Trying to aim once more, she managed to get it to roll down the lane and take out four of the pins on the left side of the formation.

She jumped in the air. "Did you see that?!" She was thrilled that she had been able to get any knocked down, and it was more than the one she'd done her first turn. Glowing, she sat back down.

"Go, Katara! You can do it!"

Katara smiled at Tyler’s remark to her jest. She had no doubts that he would be good at this game, especially after disclosing that it was a regular ordeal for him growing up- just as waterbending had been for her. The confidence with which he chose his ball and stepped up to the lane did not go unnoticed by the young woman. Silvery-sapphire eyes studied his form closely, watching every movement he made until passing her attention to the ball as it rolled toward the pins. A grin lit her lips as it slashed right through the center pin, believing that was how all the pins would go down in one try. However, she quickly saw that two pins remained standing, and hitting the center pin wasn’t the best option. She hypothesized that, because of the way the pins fell when the ball impacted, hitting the side of the center pin- instead of dead on- was the real way to go about it. There was only a couple ways to figure it out: a)she tried herself, or b)someone else managed to do it. Being the competitive spirit she was, and also really wanting to try this theory on her own, she didn’t say anything. If she failed she would let the others know, so they could attempt it if they liked.

After Tyler managed to hit one last pin, Katara couldn’t help but overhear his dismay. She was unfamiliar with the word itself, but she knew by his tone he was displeased. The waterbender almost laughed. He had more experience than any of them and he was upset because he left one pin standing where they left several? Then again, the girl couldn’t blame him. She became rather frustrated with herself if her waterbending was off-beat, so to speak. She couldn’t hold the grudge against him, nor would she dream of it.

Katara’s eyes widened in utter shock as Jun stepped up next and the ball soared through the air. Her slender figure jerked in surprise as it crashed into the wall and stuck into place. So green hair wasn’t the only thing strange about him. His muscled looked far too small to wield such power, but her best friends had been small and thin and were some of the greatest benders in the world, if not the best. When he turned around the embarrassment was clear on his features. “It’s all right, Jun. Just try to toss it a bit softer, and a bit lower on your next try. I’m sure you’ll do great.” She spoke soothingly and encouragingly as he chose a new ball. She wondered if the planet would transform the scenery like it did rooms so the ball no longer appeared there, but after a while she realized it wouldn’t- at least not yet.

As Christian stood to take his turn he seemed mildly uncomfortable at the optical attention he received. Not one to be rude, Katara looked away until he lined up the ball to throw it. She watched his form, too. So far most of them seemed to take Tyler’s lead by way of stance, even if theirs seemed a bit sloppy in comparison. It would be foolish not to, though, after he knocked down so many pins. He was clearly better than they.

Suddenly it was Giselle’s turn again. It seemed to be a fairly swift pace at which they played. That was nice. It made sure no one waited too long. Remembering her deal with the flame haired woman she watched her closely. It wasn’t that Katara was already a master at bowling or anything, but she had become a master in other areas by way of observation of others’ stances and she thought maybe she had gotten it a little bit better than the other woman. She winced inwardly as her first try went into the gutter, but clapped when she knocked down four. “Great job, Giselle!”

When she sat down, and Katara stood she turned toward Giselle. “Try to keep your wrist firmer. It’ll help you make sure the ball goes where you want it. I may not do it much better, but you can watch me when I try to get a bit of a handle on it, and definitely watch Tyler.” With a half-grin the waterbender lifted her ball and sunk her fingers into the holes.

Now was the time to try out her hypothesis if she could manage to get it to the middle. Having memorized Tyler’s stance, she mimicked it to the best of her abilities. However, she didn’t want to risk getting a “seven-ten split” as he had called it so adjusted her stance ever so slightly. Keeping her wrist unyielding to movement, she flung the heavy sphere just as she’d seen him do. Katara winced inwardly as she felt a tiny movement in her wrist, and she watched as it rolled quite quickly toward the pins. Part-way down the lane it began to curve away from where she’d aimed it, but it still managed to knock out five pins on the far right. She gave Giselle a sheepish smile. “So, follow his lead more than mine because I moved my wrist.” She wasn’t even sure if the red-head could have noticed the movement, but if she felt it there was a chance it could have been spotted, and she didn’t want to cover up the truth, especially when it explained why she had done as she did.

With a soft sigh, Katara inhaled a small breath of air and picked up her ball when it returned. She didn’t know if her theory could still be tested with some of the pins down, and if it could it would be incomplete. Why did she care? Her brother, along with being a warrior, was also the scientist of their group. He must have rubbed off on her a bit from spending nineteen years with him. That couldn’t be good. Then, with a pang of sadness, she realized she might not be seeing him for a very long time. While she was here having a joyful time with this new game, everyone back home was probably worrying about her.

Katara’s fingers gripped tighter in the holes. So long as she was here she needed to make alliances with others who might want to go home. So, if it took having to play this game to do that, she would. The subject wouldn’t be broached yet. The others looked like they were having too much fun, and she didn’t want to put a somber mood on any of them. So, she tried concentrated on hitting the remaining pins. She threw the ball with a bit more force than she intended, and it spun a bit as it rolled, colliding with one of the pins at the right, which in turn hit two more to knock them down. That wasn’t at all where she’d thought she’d thrown the ball. Her emotions had gotten to her a bit and ruined her concentration. “Oh, well. Better luck next time.” She said to herself as she moved back to her seat beside Giselle. “Sorry. I guess I wasn’t really as helpful as I thought I could be.”

“Tyler, is it true that hitting the center pin right on is what caused the- what was it?- seven… ten… split? If you hit the side of the middle pin won’t it actually fall in such a way that all of the pins will fall, even after the ball blows through most of them?” He was supposed to be the experienced one. Maybe he would know the answer. In the mean-time, she had announced her theory so it was up to the others to test it if they so desired and if they were able to even get it that far.

Tyler watched curiously as Jun got to try his hand at bowling. So far everyone here seemed to be really cheerful and almost happy to be here. It was pretty different to Tyler’s own reaction and what he had encountered with Ginger. For a moment he let his mind drift to the redheaded nut job he had met yesterday.

It was kinda no surprise Brigitte was the way she was, considering her sister. Tyler didn’t get to ponder this very long when Jun hurled his ball, sending it crashing into the next lane. “Jesus”, Tyler swore as he saw the ball embedded in the wall. Remind me never to piss Jun off, he silently thought before adding out loud, “At least you knocked those pins down”. Jun’s second try was less exciting but more successful and soon Christian was up. Judging by how they all acted, Tyler strongly suspected he was the only one to have played this game before.

“Nice throw”, he offered when Giselle took her turn and managed to knock down a few pins. Then came Katara and Tyler grinned as he watched her take a stance in front of the lane. The look of seriousness and determination on her face was kinda cute considering that this was just a bowling game but Katara proved to be a fast learner. Yet it wasn’t perfect and Katara seemed down on that. “Hey it was a good try”, Tyler said consolingly.

“Uh, it can”, Tyler replied to Katara’s question about the 7-10 split. “It depends on the angle the ball hits the pins. If you hit the center you want to make the other pins kinda fly out and knock the other pins down to get a strike so hitting the middle might work. I’m not exactly an expert on bowling”, he added as he got up from his seat.

Yet Katara made a good point. When Tyler grabbed the ball he adjusted his stance slightly as he gripped the ball firmly. Another deep breath and Tyler slung the ball down the lane although this time he was aiming for the middle pin. It was a perfect hit, sending the white wooden pins flying and giving Tyler a strike. “Yes!” he exclaimed before turning back to his companions with a big grin. Maybe he was showing off a little but screw it, this was a game right?

“You were right”, he said to Katara as Tyler took his seat again. “Aiming for the middle pin did it”. As he waited for Jun to take his turn, Tyler decided now was a good time as any to chat with the other players. “So where’s everyone from? Originally I mean. I pretty sure aside from the rock and wood guys that no one else is actually from this place”.

“Bravo, Mr. Christian!”, Jun praised the dark-haired man as he left the lane after his turn. He had a very friendly presence about him that Jun liked, but he seemed quite shy. Jun hoped that the man would warm up to them as the game went on.

Jun smiled as he watched this lovely group of people interact. He was having such a grand time. He decided that, if he ever got back to Tokyo, he would find a bowling alley and drag his circle of friends there kicking and screaming. A chuckle escaped…he could see them now…Taro would spend all of his time polishing the bowling balls and the monitor, Maki would spend all of his time showing off for pretty girls, Shuta would enjoy the game and Jun would make sure to feed him while they played since the poor and humble student seemed always to be starving…and finally, Hifumi… Hifumi he would have to watch to make sure he didn’t influence the game with any voodoo or spells.

Snapping out of his reverie, Jun saw that Giselle was up again and he clapped enthusiastically for her. “Go get em’, Miss Giselle!”, he encouraged. When the red-haired songstress knocked down four, Jun pumped his fist into the air and yelled, “WooooWooo!”.

When Katara stood and turned to give instruction to Giselle, Jun listened to every word. It all sounded like sage advice. When Katara rolled the ball and knocked down five pins, Jun was impressed, “Five pins! Five pins, Miss Katara! So good!”. When Katara returned after her second ball, Jun heard her say ‘Sorry’…”Sorry?”, he repeated, “You knocked down eight pins! Eight whole pins! That’s magnificent, Miss Katara!”, he exclaimed, throwing his arms wide and smiling.

Jun narrowed his eyes and concentrated carefully when Tyler stepped up on the lane. He watched the blond young man’s every move. Back behind everyone else, he copied those movements. When Tyler took out all of the pins, Jun gasped loudly and exclaimed, “Mr. Tyler, you are incredible! I am in awe!”. His emerald eyes looked like they would pop out of his head.

It was now Jun’s turn to go up on that lane and try to copy Tyler’s moves. He chewed his lower lip as he concentrated, remembering that Katara had said to keep your wrist straight…he also remembered to watch his strength and keep the ball low and on the lane. He approached the line and released the ball…it rolled towards the pins…heading towards the middle…but veered just slightly. It took out four on the right and one of them shot over to take out two on the left. Jun was happy…he turned and smiled. Taking the ball again, he aimed for those in the middle thinking they would still get him the most down. The space left there must have been distracting because it looked like he was going to hit the center pin but the ball just missed it and went right passed. Jun was still smiling went he returned to his seat, “Six pins for me! You next, Mr. Christian! Good luck!!”.

Christian was having a grand time.Depsite having never having played this game before, never even heard of it actually!but it was still fun, and his new found companions seemed friendly enough.

He grinned as Lady giselle,he was sure that was her station if only by the way she carried herself, rose to take her turn, clapping along with a few others when she managed to take out 4 pins. He was so pre-occupied with the exicment of this game that he barly heard Katara's advice, nodding and studying the pins slightly.Determined to figure outr how to that, if he couldnt, well that was ok to, he was wasnt completly useless after all.

so where's everyone from? The blonde man, tyler had he called himself?,asked thankfully filling the silence which had before only been filled with the sound of clapping. "Paris"christian said, tilting his head toward the boy "France"he added as an after thought.

Before christian knew it was his turn again, and he quickly grabbed the heavy item and, following the stances he had seen everyone else do, managed to knock down at least 3 pins on both of his turns.

Grinning at Katara, Giselle took her place once more, leaning forward with rapt attention to watch the others as they bowled. She looked up as Katara passed her and listened to her advice. "Oh, thank you, Katara!" She nodded, and tried to file the information away so that she could bring it back when it was next her turn.

When Katara bowled, Giselle watched her carefully and grinned and clapped at both attempts. She was just happy they were all here and seemed to be having a good time despite the fact that it was a forced activity. "No, Katara, your information was very helpful! You'll see. I'll do better next time." She looked over at Tyler as Katara posed her question. She was curious about it as well.

She watched him take his turn next and clapped when he managed to get a strike on the first try. "Great job, Tyler!" She crowed, clapping enthusiastically. "Wonderful!" She grinned as he took his seat and then asked where everyone was from. "I'm from New York, and before that I was from Andalasia. I got pushed into New York by this ugly old woman." Giselle pouted, but smiled almost instantly. She couldn't be too angry with the woman, she had met Robert and Morgan afterall. And that never would have happened if it weren't for her.

She watched Jun take his turn next and remembered how he had cheered her. She returned the favor, pumping her fist in the air just as he had done. "You can do it, Jun!" She hopped up, bouncing on the balls of her feet as she watched him bowl his first round. "Six! Fantastic, Jun!" She grinned, peering around him to watch his second bowl. She stamped her foot when he missed on his second try, but when he turned around she patted him on the shoulder. "Great job, Jun. Really wonderful!"

She sat back down and turned as Christian answered Tyler's question. "Paris?! Oh, I have heard it is a beautiful place. I wish I could go there someday." Giselle spoke wistfully, although she would probably never be able to go anywhere other than here ever again. But, she could control her room. Maybe she could make it look like the Louvre or something. She had read about the place in books, and the library on the Planet was well stocked.

She next watched him bowl and as he knocked down six pins she clapped. "You are getting the hang of it, I think, Christian!" She grinned as she popped up to take her own turn. She picked up the ball and tried to remember what Katara had told her about keeping her wrist strait. She walked up, swung the ball back and took aim, trying with everything she had to keep her wrist strait.

It was strait, but a little off center. The bowl rolled down the lane and took out one side of the formation. She jumped up and down grinning. "Did you see that?!" She grinned and waited for her ball to come back so she could bowl again. When it did, she took aim once more and bowled again. The ball whooshed down the lane and took out three more pins on the opposite side, leaving the first and middle pins standing. "Eight!" She laughed and clapped for herself, quite proud, before taking her seat once more and pulling her clasped hands up under her chin.

Katara smiled at Giselle. “Oh. Well, then, I’m glad I could help a little.” Then Tyler gave her a bit of a comforting word as well. These people really were nice, and she figured none of them would blame her for at least trying to help. It’s not as if she were trying to show anyone up; she simply had talents that aided in this sort of thing. Then he answered her question, and she was surprised that he said he wasn’t an expert. He was doing so well that she thought for sure he must be. Oh, well. At least he gave insight on what he thought should be the way of it. She saw him adjust his stance to use what she had suggested, though, and he knocked every pin down. Katara beamed as he told her she was right. She liked being able to help.

When he sat down and inquired as to where they all came from, she listened to others’ replies first before giving her own. “In my world I was originally from the Southern Water Tribe.” She knew that they would know just as much about where she was talking as she did about their homes. She obviously hailed from a completely different world than the others, though it seemed like Giselle and Christian were on somewhat common ground. “Where are you from, Tyler? What about you, Jun?”

When Jun was up, Katara noticed how joyful the boy seemed to be. He and Giselle could probably bring light to even the most miserable situations. Six pins was good, though. Even she could have probably shot the ball through the space left by the fallen pins. “Good job, Jun!”

After Christian bowled his turn, knocking over the same amount as Jun, Katara smiled and clapped. “I think everyone is really getting the hang of this game.”

To prove her words were true, Giselle stepped up and knocked over eight pins altogether. “Fantastic, Giselle! I knew you could do it.”

Katara stood and walked swiftly to pick up her ball, sinking her fingers into the three holes. Then, lining up the ball with the pins as best she could, she drew it back and tossed it. This time she was almost certain it would hit where she wanted, but at the very last second it veered slightly to the right and collapsed seven pins on that side. It was still a good number so she wasn’t quite deterred. When the ball returned she lifted it again and aimed for the cluster of three pins. The ball collided with one, which skimmed another that merely wobbled without falling. Eight. That wasn’t bad. She’d gotten that score last time, too. At least she was consistent.

"Paris? Wow", Tyler said as Christian answered his question. Giselle also turned out to be from a big city as well when she said New York although Tyler didn't know what to make of this Andalasia place or how Giselle described her arrival to New York. How could anyone push you there? How could anyone bring you to another planet Tyler? his mind quickly replied. Touché, Tyler thought.

Apparently Katara turned out to be from another world too! "Southern Water tribe?" Tyler repeated. Tribe? his mind echoed. Okay, what time is she from? "I'm from Canada...on Earth", Tyler added to clarify. "Winnipeg to be exact".

The others seemed to be picking up on bowling pretty quickly as the number of pins they hit went up higher each turn and they were all really enthusiastic about it. For Tyler it was a little hard to believe that anyone could get this excited about bowling but then he remembered that these people were new to the game. As Katara got up to take her turn, Tyler watched with interest as she attempted another throw.

She was improving so fast he half expected her to get them all this time but eight was still a pretty good score. As she returned to her seat, Tyler got up to take his turn. Using the same format as before, Tyler hurled the ball down the lane, believing he would get another strike but the pins didn't co-operate this time. One pin on the right stubbornly stayed put while the others fell.

Tyler grabbed the ball once more for his second turn, narrowing his eyes in a determined fashion before sending flying down the lane. He was lucky as the ball just touched the pin enough to knock it down. "Yes", he said again gleefully although not a loudly or boisterously as he had the last time. Quickly retaking his seat, Tyler attempted to continue conversing with the others. "So what do you guys do when you're not bowling or being plucked up by strange planets?"

"Six, Mr. Christian! Bravo!", Jun cheered. Earlier Tyler had asked them all where they were from and, being more excited about others than himself, Jun had forgotten to answer...he just listened. Christian said he was from Paris. "Paris! I've often dreamed of going to Paris! The closest I ever got was the fancy pastries we served at the cafe", Jun shared.

Jun had arrived on this Planet with Giselle and knew where she was from...he considered himself to be very lucky to have spent some time talking to her for she was one of the most delightful people he had ever met. He smiled a huge white smile as he watched her talking to the others. he almost felt jealous that he couldn't be like them...meeting her for the first time again. He cheered for her again as he had been, but when her total was a whopping eight, he ran down and pulled her up out of her seat and tossed her into the air, "Miss Giselle! You got EIGHT!!! You're a natural!", he praised as he caught her and set her back on her feet. He was grinning and and bouncing on his toes, so proud of her.

He listened as Katara explained her world and life in the Southern Water Tribe. It all sounded very exotic and made him look at Katara with new eyes...curious eyes, "Wow, I'd love to hear all about your world sometime, Miss Katara!", Jun exclaimed. He knew she was intelligent and friendly and she was obviously beautiful, but what more was there? How did the world she came from differ from the world he came from? How was it the same? When she steppedup to bowl, he watched her every move again. She seemed to catch on so fast. "EIGHT FOR YOU TOO!", Jun exclaimed and stepped forward...he wasn't sure how she would react to his brand of enthusiasm...he smiled and patted her shoulder gently, "Way to go, Miss Katara!"

Tyler went next in the verbal exchange between the new friends and explained that he was from Winnipeg, Canada. Jun crinkled up his leaf-green eyebrows and asked, "Winnipeg? Is that in the west, Mr. Tyler? Like with cowboys and rodeos?". The whole idea seemed to be very exciting and wildly different to the green-haired teen.

The blond young man was up again and Jun was watching him like a hawk. "ALL THE PINS AGAIN!!!!", Jun yelled, jumping up and down. You would have thought they were his pins. He ran past Tyler, giving him the 'two thumbs up' hand signal, and grabbed a ball eager to take his turn.

As Jun stood on the lane with his ball, ready to bowl, he suddenly remembered something. He turned around and smiled at everyone and called out, "TOKYO! I'm from Tokyo!". Then he turned around and rolled the ball. It hit square in the middle and took out all of the pins...except the pin on the far left. It wobbled and righted itself and stood.

Jun turned around and looked at his friends with his mouth wide open...he pointed down the lane and gasped, "Look! Nine!". He took his second ball and aimed carefully, rolling it towards the pin at the end of the lane, but sending it into the gutter. Jun didn't seem to care as he danced off of the lane, "Nine Pins Cha-cha-cha!".

Christian grinned, as he listened to everyone recall where they were from "I dont belive I've heard of this Andalasia, lady giselle"He said pondering. Perhaps it was one of the towns or citys in america?. It very well could be "New york though I have heard of, though I have never been there myself"He remarked shyly.

He clapped with everyone else when she knocked down her 8 pins "great job!".His eyes instantly flicked to the others, glad to know that they were from places he heard of, though he hadnt the slightest clue where this 'southern water tribe' might have been, he didnt ask, not wanting to offend the young women.

"Tokyo?Oh!I've heard of that place!Though its still a long way from paris.I would love ot go there someday"He said to the green haired teen, clapping and laughing at his over-exictment. "Great job!"

He quickly realized it was his turn again, and grabbed the ball, squinting slightly as he once again copyied the forms he had seen everyone else do. The ball rolled fast down the lane, hitting the center pin and sending the pins flying. All but 3 or 4 were knocked down and christain grinned, though his next turn only knocked down a single pin. He was getting the hang of it!He turned to his companians, goofy grin on his face."This game is becoming quite fun!"

He took his seat, tylers question not going unnoticed "Oh!I was a writer"Though not a very good oneHe thought to himself, Still, the cabre of moulin rouge had thought him good enough to write for them,at least.

Giselle squealed with delight as she was tossed into the air with no more effort than it would have taken to toss a rag doll. She brushed back her hair and giggled up at Jun before he returned to his seat. Flushed, she sat down, continuing to clap and cheer for each person as they took their turns. The game was going quickly for having five people playing on one lane.

Tyler seemed to be the best at it, he'd gotten two strikes in a row, but the rest of them hadn't ever played the game before. They were catching on quickly nevertheless. She turned at Tyler's question and thought about it for a moment. "I clean. And sing." She grinned. It was true. She really didn't know how to do anything else.

Giselle giggled again as Jun did his victory dance back to his seat after knocking down nine pins. She clapped and waited for Christian to take his turn. She crinkled her brow at him and responded to his statement. "You know, not very many people have heard of Andalasia. It's very strange." She didn't know where Andalasia was, exactly. It was just Andalasia, and it somehow had a portal to New York in a fountain there.

"Oh, a writer! What did you write, Christian?" She was always interested in what other people did. Especially if they enjoyed doing it themselves. "Did you write about romance? True love's kiss?" She gushed, bringing clasped hands up under her chin, eyes glossing over slightly.

At Jun’s exuberant display of joy for Giselle, Katara jumped out of her seat to be ready to help if Giselle didn’t make such an easy fall after she finished soaring up into the air. It was proven unnecessary as Jun caught her with the same swift ease as he had thrown the woman. Giselle also seemed unperturbed, keeping an ever-present positive demeanor in light of a possible fear of falling to one’s death. She must really trust him… Katara thought.

As Katara listened to everyone talk about where they were from, she almost felt left out in that area. Everyone knew where everyone else was from- with the exception of the Andalasia Giselle was from- while she had never heard of those places, and no one else seemed to have heard of her home. She couldn’t allow it to bring her down, though. It only meant that she had as much to learn from them as they did from her, and Jun’s words proved it. She felt a small surge of joy mingling with pride at the thought that she may very well be the only Waterbender- or even the only Bender, period- in the Mirage. “I would love to learn all about your world, too, Jun. I’ve never heard of any of the places any of you are from! I bet they’re all fantastic.”

At Tyler’s dubious repetition of what Katara said she only smiled. “Yes. The Southern Water Tribe is one of the three Water Nation locations. It’s in the South Pole.”

Though she was delighted with everyone there and had no reason not to trust them a surge of relief went through her when Jun merely gave her a congratulatory pat on the shoulder. “Thanks, Jun.” It wasn’t that she was afraid of heights- after all she had gotten quite used to riding through the sky on Appa’s back over the years; she was simply anxious about not being caught and going splat onto the floor- or even going splat on the ceiling if she were thrown too high. Jun’s physical strength amazed her. She knew it would be in her best interest never to get on his bad side.

Katara cheered softly for Tyler as he took his turn. He took out all ten pins again, though in two tries this time. That was still fantastic, and better than any of the others so far. Then Jun was up and took his best try yet. “Great job, Jun! You’re doing really well!” Then Christian knocked down seven pins, and she clapped cheerily.

It made her happy to see how joyful everyone else was, even dispelling the majority of her own self-pity. Maybe the Planet knew what it was doing by forcing others to go through these mandatory events? After all, if they weren’t doing this they may very well be moping around their rooms the whole time. Or finding ways out of this place… The Waterbender thought sardonically.

Katara listened as each person divulged their jobs in their own worlds. “A writer, Christian? I bet you’re better than you think.” She had never known many writers. Giselle divulged that she was a cleaner and a singer- two seemingly unconnected jobs. “I’m a Waterbender and a healer. I also helped the Avatar protect people, and I helped those people recover their lives and villages after the war that happened in my world.”

The young woman grinned as the flame-haired woman took her turn, knocking over seven pins, and clapped merrily. Seven was less than before, but so what? They were all beginners with the exception of Tyler. Seven was still the majority of the pins. “Awesome, Giselle!”

Then Katara was up again. Everything was moving as such a swift pace. It was quite fun. Lifting her ball she lined it up with the pins and rolled it along the lane. To her complete shock- and utter delight- it smashed through the center pin and those behind it, sending many flying away from the ball to slam into other pins, leaving one standing tall on the right. It could most likely be attributed to her improved mood. When the ball returned to her, she happily aimed the weighted sphere at the remaining pin and threw it. She realized her aim had been true, and she jumped up and down gleefully as she knocked the pin over.

“Did you guys see that!” She exclaimed with shocked joy. She had definitely improved her mood with that. Her pride seemed to be bursting.

"A writer huh? That's cool", Tyler said after Christian responded to his question and soon Giselle told him that she cleaned and sang. Some sort of singing maid?, Tyler wondered. Either way, the red head got all dewy eyed when Christian had mentioned writing and babbled on about true love, an idea Tyler himself didn't believe in so he chose not to comment.

Katara had also replied to Tyler's question but he had only heard part of it due to the sound of crashing pins. Speaking of the brunette, it was soon her turn and Tyler watched with interest as the brunette approached the lane.

Yes, he had checked her out but he was a guy. It was only natural to look. Yet he was impressed when Katara managed to knock almost all of the pins down in her first turn and then got that last one on her second. "Awesome Katara", he congratulated her. "You've really picked this game up fast". There was only two turns left for Tyler according to the computer screen but he was determined to only use one.

Grabbing the ball in a cocky manner, Tyler lined up his form carefully before throwing the ball down the lane. He had been aiming at the middle but misjudged his throw so the ball hit the handful of pins on the right, leaving three on left. "Crap", he muttered in a lighthearted manner before he grabbed another ball.

"I was so sure I'd get another strike", he said but it didn't matter. Tyler was more careful the second time as he approached the lane. He moved slowly and carefully aimed the ball at the left side. The black orb was soon sailing down the wooden lane before crashed into the pins, sending all but one flying.

Tyler snorted. "That's what I get for being cocky".

Now that everyone had spoken of where they had come from, it seemed that they were all talking of their jobs or duties. Jun listened carefully, as he was always very interested in other people and what they did.

After taking his turn, Christian said that he was a writer and this seemed so exciting to Jun. "A writer, Mr. Christian?! You must be very smart indeed!", he gushed. "What do you write, sir?". He smiled at the dark-haired man and inquired, "Will you continue writing now that you are here, at Mirage?"

When Giselle announced that she sang, Jun had to be a cheerleader, "Miss Giselle has the voice of an angel! Have any of you ever heard her sing? If you haven't, you are surely missing something magical!", he smiled widely and closed his eyes as if remembering a special moment.

As Katara began listing her jobs or duties, the green-haired teen's jaw dropped and he sat down speechless. So much responsibility...such overwhelming selflessness. He could only pat her hand and say, "You have done so much, Miss Katara and helped so many. I am honored to know you". When the dark-haired water-bender took her turn and bowled a spare, Jun cheered and called out, "Yay! You are bowling like Mr. Tyler now, Miss Katara!".

After Tyler took his turn and complained that he'd been too cocky, Jun patted him on the back and soothed,"I don't think you are cocky, just confident in your talent, sir".

Before stepping on the lane, the 16 year old from Tokyo shrugged and informed everyone, "As for me, my duties are not so exciting or impressive. I attend school and in my free time I work at a cafe...but I enjoy it very much". He smiled at everyone and nodded his head before going on to the lane to take his turn.

He again tried to copy Tyler and Katara and he hit somewhere around the center, but knocked down everything except the pins on the far left and far right. When his ball came back up, he picked it and turned around, scrunching his emerald brows, before aiming at the one on the right and taking it out and getting nine again. "Nine again!", he announced, throwing his arms up and smiling.

When Jun stepped down off of the lane, he turned to Tyler and smiled, saying, "Mr. Tyler, you never told us what your job was!".

He grinned at Lady giselle, nodding slightly "True love, Parie, and everything in between dear lady!"he said proudly.

His eyes widened at the green haired teens..'display' of happyness. Not used to having people tossed in the air like such, such things would not be allowed back home!not unless the person was a baby or small child.

"A singer lady giselle?Im sure you have the voice of an angel!"He commented happily.

Christian crinkled his nose slightly at katara's words. She lived in the south pole?impossable!it was made of ice!perhaps she was nomad or an eskimo?he didnt want to ask and have her be offened by such nonsense. He was even more confused by her 'job'

"water..bender?Im afraid I dont know what that is, lady katara."He said honestly, blushing slightly but a 'healer'he had heard of. "but by healer do you nurse?"it would be delightful to know a nurse, should someone ever get injured or sick, though he doubted it happen here.

His eyes fell back to the green haired teen as he took his turn once more, clapping as he knocked down nine pins "way to go!"he shouted, his voice lost amoungest the others.

He quickly took his turn, picking the heavy object once more and aiming it for the pins, taking down 6 or 7 in his stead.

"Yes, you never said what you do, Sir. tyler!"Christian perked up, eager to hear what kind of job the blonde haired man held.

The clapping and cheering went on for several more rounds until they were in their last frame. Giselle got up to take her turn and bowled. She had continued to get a little better, but toward the end, her fingers and wrist were starting to hurt and she only ended up with a total score of 61. Not a single strike or spare to her name, but she was still delighted.

It had been a great time, at least in Giselle's opinion. It hadn't been so very hard to get to know the group of people she'd been ordered to interact with, and the game had been fun. She was sure she'd made a few new friends and she had learned a few new things. All in all, it was a great day.

When the television above their heads went black and the lights on the bowling lane went out, Giselle was made to understand that the game was over. She shucked the shoes, wiggled her toes about before putting her own shoes back on and took them back to the counter where the golem sprayed them before putting them away in a little cubby.

"I had a wonderful time! Thank you all so much! It was nice to meet you all. I hope to see you again soon!" Giselle waved merrily at them as she exited the bowling alley and headed back to her room.

Jun’s words truly meant a lot to Katara. She was glad someone realized that her work wasn’t just a hobby, but true work, hard work that really paid off when a person saw the joy of having their lives back in order. “Thank you, Jun.”

Her eyes moved to Christian as he admitted he was confused about what she had spoken. “In my world, people are sometimes born with the gift of waterbending. It’s the manipulation of water and it’s forms. I don‘t know what a ‘nurse’ is, but I make others’ wounds heal and go away. Is that the same thing?”

Katara suppressed a giggle as Tyler stepped up to bowl. His movements had changed a bit, so now he looked like he was about to show off some great talent. As Katara had seen over the years, such attitudes rarely ended up in something to be proud of. However, even if it wasn’t as good as he wished, Tyler had still done a good job. Nine very good.

They all took their turns, round for round. In the end Katara had gotten a couple strikes and four spares, though she couldn’t have told anyone what that meant, as the jargon as lost on her. Her score altogether was a whopping one hundred and forty-five points. Whopping in her opinion anyway. Once the waterbender had gotten the hang of it, bowling was truly quite simple. She would have to play it again some time.

Katara didn’t enjoy being forced into activities, but she did appreciate that she had friendly people with whom to enjoy them. Removing her shoes gratefully, she handed them off to the golem before putting on her more comfortable footwear.

“Thanks. I enjoyed it, too. It would be great to meet up with you guys again some time.”

"Just call me Tyler", the blond man said to Jun and Christian as the girls were getting ready to leave now that the game had finished up. "I work at a hospital as an orderly but I'm in medical school studying to become a doctor", he added. He chose not to add that it would probably take him a decade to actually reach that goal. "I gotta admit I wasn't looking forward to this game but I'm glad I was forced to come here. You guys are nice and very enthusiastic, about bowling", Tyler grinned.

"See ya Katara, see ya Giselle", he called out as the girls left the bowling alley. "I should probably head off too", Tyler decided as he changed his bowling shoes for his usual sneakers. "I missed breakfast and I am starving. I hope I see you guys around", he added, glancing at Jun and Christian. "If you ever want to have another game of bowling, let me know".

With that the blond man returned his bowling shoes to the golem and headed out of the bowling alley while silently wondering how to get to the restaurant.

When the screen overhead went black and the lights went on overhead, Jun's face dropped a bit. It was over already? No more bowling? He looked at the scores and smiled seeing that he wasn't at the top or the bottom, but he didn't want to make too much out of the scores for fear of hurting the one at the bottom. Besides, the playing and friendship was the main thing...not the silly scores.

Before he changed his shoes, he walked down the lane and jerked his first thrown ball free from the wall of the bowling alley. Walking back towards his new friends, holding the ball, he shrugged shyly, and blushed. Polishing the ball off, he placed it in the rack and then sat down next to the others to change his shoes.

Jun was very excited when Katara said she would like to meet up again sometime...she was so amazing...he would love to know more about her and her work with her people. One day he would like to use his abilities like that.

He grinned widely when Mr. Tyler said that he could call him 'Tyler'...that meant they were friends. "You are going to be a doctor, Mr. Ty...I mean, Tyler?! A doctor? That's wonderful! I'll bet you will be a very good doctor!".

As everyone filed out of the bowling alley, Jun called, "It was fantastic meeting everyone! Please come to E101 if you need me...like for heavy lifting or anything...or just for company!".

Christian nodded at Lady katara's answer. "Something like that yes"He said, Glad to have met a nurse,or whatever she was called in her world.

He was distracted when the screen above them went blank, and he quickly realized it meant the game was over.Pity, he was just starting to enjoy himself to!

"Tyler it is then!"Christian said, perhaps a bit to overenthused. His eyes widened when tyler metioned he was to become a docter "A nurse and a docter!well how fortunate for us to have met you then!"He grinned.

Christian sat, removing the weird shoes he had had to wear, and after promptely returning them, slid his own back on.Only glancing up once when their scores were shown.

All in all he hadnt done to bad he suppossed, considering he had never even heardof this game until today.

seeing everyone slowly drifting to the door, he stood and followed suit. "It was great meeting you all!I hope to see you around, Im in B215 though if you'd like to talk..or whatnot!"He said happily, heading off in search of other mysteries this place held.
