Day 3- Bowling
Who: Giselle, Tyler, Jun, Katara and Christian
What: Bowling
When: Late Morning
Where: Bowling Alley
Rating: TBD
Status: Completed!

Giselle woke with the pleasant thoughts of Legolas in her head. Their impromptu duet the day before had stuck with her even into her dreams. She smiled dreamily as she sat up in bed and went to the balcony doors. She leaned against the side of the balcony and sang with all her heart. When she had finished her seranade of the entire resort, she resumed waking up.

She showered and dressed with the help of her animal friends and went to get some breakfast at the restaurant. When she returned from a satisfying meal of pancakes and fresh fruit, she saw an envelope taped to her door that she had neglected to notice before. She pulled it off and tore it open. Giselle loved getting messages, and she half hoped it was from Legolas.

But it was not to be. Instead it was instructions about a mandatory activity she was to participate in. She had never even heard of bowling. She frowned, but if she was going to be doing it with other people, she was going to have fun, regardless.

She spent the remainder of the morning, before she had to participate in the activity, redecorating her room. Instead of all pink, she concentrated on putting some silvery and purply threads in the comforter on her bed and in the wallpapered walls. She gave herself a grander vanity and a bigger wardrobe.

She was dressed in a flowing yellow dress when she left her room to go to her activity. Her hair was left down, tucked neatly behind her ears. She skipped as she moved down the hall of the main building toward the door leading to the bowling alley. She stepped in and found that she was the first one there.

She went to the desk and the golem there directed her to a lane after handing her some shoes and socks. She grimaced and held the shoes up in front of her face. "Has someone else worn these?" She whispered loudly to the golem. He nodded and she wrinkled her nose. "Do you have any no one else has worn?" He shook his head. She frowned and sighed, heading for the lane she had been directed to.

Sitting down, she pulled off her sandals and proceeded to put the shoes and socks on. She was horrified at having to wear something someone else had worn. Someone she didn't know, too! Sitting back to wait for the others to arrive, Giselle's attention was drawn to a television set high above her head. It had some dancing pins and bowling balls on it before it cleared and some instructions flowed across the screen.

She read them as quickly as she could, trying to understand what she was supposed to do. The video replayed itself when it finished, and Giselle looked down the lane to the pins standing in formation. She screwed up her mouth wondering just how she was supposed to knock all those huge pins down with just one little ball.

Katara watched Giselle stand and retrieve a ball, and after a slight difficulty with it before getting the right one, she watched how she rolled the ball. The first toss had been a doomed failure, and Katara knew that she would probably do the same thing, but she was sure to remember how the woman had stood and tossed the ball so she wouldn’t do it quite the same. The waterbender moved to stand after Giselle’s first throw, but then she realized that the woman got another turn and relaxed back into her seat. She thought maybe people got another turn until they knocked out a pin. When the fire-haired woman hit one pin, Katara clapped her hands and grinned. “Great job, Giselle.” She congratulated.

She then stood and searched for her own ball. She lifted one that was about the same size as Giselle’s and deemed it worthy enough. Katara wasn’t exactly well endowed with physical strength. Her endurance was fantastic and she was a great waterbender, which took fitness, but her brother was the muscular warrior of the group, as was his girlfriend Suki- minus the obvious muscles.

She approached the lane. It had replaced the pin Giselle had uprooted so that all ten pins stood neatly in their orders. Katara tried to make her stance unlike that of the way she saw Giselle’s first. Her second stance had been slightly different, so the waterbender would change it a little bit more to try to hit a few more pins than the other woman had. When she felt she was standing well enough she rolled the ball toward the pins with a small burst of strength. The young woman groaned as her ball rolled into the opposite gutter than Giselle’s had almost immediately. The position had been adjusted too much.

Katara inhaled a calming breath, not that she was anxious. She wanted to keep her head clear so she would do better the second time. She hadn’t become a Master in her art for nothing. If she could make water cut through hot air balloons, if she could fight off multiple bodies with deadly accuracy and one stream of water, she could make a weighted ball knock over a few pins.

Retrieving the ball, she tried again, looking straight at her goal and trying to position herself in such a way she thought would definitely succeed. Envisioning exactly what she wanted in her mind’s eye she threw the ball again. The waterbender held her breath as she watched the ball roll over the smooth surface of the lane. Near the end it began to roll away toward the right gutter, but just before it did it crashed into two pins, which knocked over one other and caused a fourth to totter. Sadly the tottering, white pin regain it’s roots and righted itself, a shame. Even though that wasn’t quite close to the closest, middle pin she had still done very well with the awkward sphere, considering she had never played this game before now. The shoes were quite uncomfortable, though, and she wondered if they were hindering her at all.

Katara turned a shrugged, though she felt a bit proud of herself. She was certain she would do even better the next time around. “Well, Tyler, it’s your turn. Try not to show us girls up too much with your first hand knowledge of the game?”
