Tyler watched curiously as Jun got to try his hand at bowling. So far everyone here seemed to be really cheerful and almost happy to be here. It was pretty different to Tyler’s own reaction and what he had encountered with Ginger. For a moment he let his mind drift to the redheaded nut job he had met yesterday.
It was kinda no surprise Brigitte was the way she was, considering her sister. Tyler didn’t get to ponder this very long when Jun hurled his ball, sending it crashing into the next lane. “Jesus”, Tyler swore as he saw the ball embedded in the wall. Remind me never to piss Jun off, he silently thought before adding out loud, “At least you knocked those pins down”. Jun’s second try was less exciting but more successful and soon Christian was up. Judging by how they all acted, Tyler strongly suspected he was the only one to have played this game before.
“Nice throw”, he offered when Giselle took her turn and managed to knock down a few pins. Then came Katara and Tyler grinned as he watched her take a stance in front of the lane. The look of seriousness and determination on her face was kinda cute considering that this was just a bowling game but Katara proved to be a fast learner. Yet it wasn’t perfect and Katara seemed down on that. “Hey it was a good try”, Tyler said consolingly.
“Uh, it can”, Tyler replied to Katara’s question about the 7-10 split. “It depends on the angle the ball hits the pins. If you hit the center you want to make the other pins kinda fly out and knock the other pins down to get a strike so hitting the middle might work. I’m not exactly an expert on bowling”, he added as he got up from his seat.
Yet Katara made a good point. When Tyler grabbed the ball he adjusted his stance slightly as he gripped the ball firmly. Another deep breath and Tyler slung the ball down the lane although this time he was aiming for the middle pin. It was a perfect hit, sending the white wooden pins flying and giving Tyler a strike. “Yes!” he exclaimed before turning back to his companions with a big grin. Maybe he was showing off a little but screw it, this was a game right?
“You were right”, he said to Katara as Tyler took his seat again. “Aiming for the middle pin did it”. As he waited for Jun to take his turn, Tyler decided now was a good time as any to chat with the other players. “So where’s everyone from? Originally I mean. I pretty sure aside from the rock and wood guys that no one else is actually from this place”.
