Day 3- Bowling
Who: Giselle, Tyler, Jun, Katara and Christian
What: Bowling
When: Late Morning
Where: Bowling Alley
Rating: TBD
Status: Completed!

Giselle woke with the pleasant thoughts of Legolas in her head. Their impromptu duet the day before had stuck with her even into her dreams. She smiled dreamily as she sat up in bed and went to the balcony doors. She leaned against the side of the balcony and sang with all her heart. When she had finished her seranade of the entire resort, she resumed waking up.

She showered and dressed with the help of her animal friends and went to get some breakfast at the restaurant. When she returned from a satisfying meal of pancakes and fresh fruit, she saw an envelope taped to her door that she had neglected to notice before. She pulled it off and tore it open. Giselle loved getting messages, and she half hoped it was from Legolas.

But it was not to be. Instead it was instructions about a mandatory activity she was to participate in. She had never even heard of bowling. She frowned, but if she was going to be doing it with other people, she was going to have fun, regardless.

She spent the remainder of the morning, before she had to participate in the activity, redecorating her room. Instead of all pink, she concentrated on putting some silvery and purply threads in the comforter on her bed and in the wallpapered walls. She gave herself a grander vanity and a bigger wardrobe.

She was dressed in a flowing yellow dress when she left her room to go to her activity. Her hair was left down, tucked neatly behind her ears. She skipped as she moved down the hall of the main building toward the door leading to the bowling alley. She stepped in and found that she was the first one there.

She went to the desk and the golem there directed her to a lane after handing her some shoes and socks. She grimaced and held the shoes up in front of her face. "Has someone else worn these?" She whispered loudly to the golem. He nodded and she wrinkled her nose. "Do you have any no one else has worn?" He shook his head. She frowned and sighed, heading for the lane she had been directed to.

Sitting down, she pulled off her sandals and proceeded to put the shoes and socks on. She was horrified at having to wear something someone else had worn. Someone she didn't know, too! Sitting back to wait for the others to arrive, Giselle's attention was drawn to a television set high above her head. It had some dancing pins and bowling balls on it before it cleared and some instructions flowed across the screen.

She read them as quickly as she could, trying to understand what she was supposed to do. The video replayed itself when it finished, and Giselle looked down the lane to the pins standing in formation. She screwed up her mouth wondering just how she was supposed to knock all those huge pins down with just one little ball.

Now was the time to try out her hypothesis if she could manage to get it to the middle. Having memorized Tyler’s stance, she mimicked it to the best of her abilities. However, she didn’t want to risk getting a “seven-ten split” as he had called it so adjusted her stance ever so slightly. Keeping her wrist unyielding to movement, she flung the heavy sphere just as she’d seen him do. Katara winced inwardly as she felt a tiny movement in her wrist, and she watched as it rolled quite quickly toward the pins. Part-way down the lane it began to curve away from where she’d aimed it, but it still managed to knock out five pins on the far right. She gave Giselle a sheepish smile. “So, follow his lead more than mine because I moved my wrist.” She wasn’t even sure if the red-head could have noticed the movement, but if she felt it there was a chance it could have been spotted, and she didn’t want to cover up the truth, especially when it explained why she had done as she did.

With a soft sigh, Katara inhaled a small breath of air and picked up her ball when it returned. She didn’t know if her theory could still be tested with some of the pins down, and if it could it would be incomplete. Why did she care? Her brother, along with being a warrior, was also the scientist of their group. He must have rubbed off on her a bit from spending nineteen years with him. That couldn’t be good. Then, with a pang of sadness, she realized she might not be seeing him for a very long time. While she was here having a joyful time with this new game, everyone back home was probably worrying about her.

Katara’s fingers gripped tighter in the holes. So long as she was here she needed to make alliances with others who might want to go home. So, if it took having to play this game to do that, she would. The subject wouldn’t be broached yet. The others looked like they were having too much fun, and she didn’t want to put a somber mood on any of them. So, she tried concentrated on hitting the remaining pins. She threw the ball with a bit more force than she intended, and it spun a bit as it rolled, colliding with one of the pins at the right, which in turn hit two more to knock them down. That wasn’t at all where she’d thought she’d thrown the ball. Her emotions had gotten to her a bit and ruined her concentration. “Oh, well. Better luck next time.” She said to herself as she moved back to her seat beside Giselle. “Sorry. I guess I wasn’t really as helpful as I thought I could be.”

“Tyler, is it true that hitting the center pin right on is what caused the- what was it?- seven… ten… split? If you hit the side of the middle pin won’t it actually fall in such a way that all of the pins will fall, even after the ball blows through most of them?” He was supposed to be the experienced one. Maybe he would know the answer. In the mean-time, she had announced her theory so it was up to the others to test it if they so desired and if they were able to even get it that far.
