200 — Anniversary Festival!

Happy Anniversary, Marina Nova!

The bots have been busy cleaning up the dome and setting up decorations for this momentous occasion, and by now there isn't a nook or cranny left un-pimped! Bright blue MarinaNova flags wave happily in the artificial breeze together with the colorful ribbons that have been wrapped around poles. The streets are illuminated by strings of lights and paper lanterns and each sector gate has been lovingly decorated with fragrant flower garlands.

Of course, that is far from all! There wouldn't be much of a festival without entertainment and your loving wardens have made absolutely sure that there's something for everyone!

Sector 0 Fairground: If you want to go faster, you have to scream louder! Sector 0 has been taken over by a fairground where you can find such old classics as the bumper cars, a haunted house of mirrors, a more romantic tunnel of love, a roller coaster, a classic merry-go-round and, of course, a ferris wheel.

Game Booths: Step right up! Test your skill and win a prize! Throughout the dome there's a variety of game booths, ranging from the classic ring toss and high striker to kissing booths and dunk tanks. There's also a duck pond game, balloon darts and goldfish scooping game — with mechanical goldfish, of course!

The prizes are all of the carnival variety, including but not limited to: stuffed animals, fake tattoos, cheap bracelets and necklaces, stickers, rubber reptiles, silly hats, wiggle snakes and sticky hands or other sticky things.

Performances: The other way to show your skill! There are two stages set up in the dome: the first one with sound equipment and instruments suitable for a musical performance — or perhaps just karaoke! If no one is using the stage, it will automatically play randomly selected music from a wide variety of genres. The second stage is set up to accommodate physical performances like gymnastics and when no one is performing you're treated to a projection of ball room dancers, gymnasts, modern dance, ballet and similar things!

There are also street performers scattered throughout the dome. You can watch robots juggle, eat fire, swallow swords or charm robot snakes! There's also face painting and the occasional robot dressed up as a human statue for your amusement.

Food: The food carts in sector 0 are now carrying food fit for the occasion. You can find classic carnival food like popcorn, cotton candy, corn dogs, funnel cakes and pizza slices, but also takoyaki, okonomiyaki, candied almonds, gyros, pirogues, egg rolls and of course snow cones and ice-cream cones. The theme has of course extended to the drink selection and you're welcome to quench your thirst with lemon shake ups, butterbeer, mead and malted milkshakes.

Zatanna Zatara ⟡ PERFORMANCE (Magic)

[It wasn't hard to figure out what Zatanna would be doing for her allotted stage time that day, and she certainly didn't disappoint. Her outfit was a slight variation of her usual fighting costume, only with heels instead of boots and a shimmering tuxedo matador jacket that shimmered under the light. No coattails; they could too easily snag in the fabric.]

[Her main assistant, Wally, was equally decked out, most noticeably in a glittery, red bowtie that Zatanna had insisted on...because...well, she just thought it would be funny. And distracting. Distractions were a big part of the business, after all. Don't want the crowd to have a chance to see what you were really up to. Spoilers. She had other assistants, of course; so many people had volunteered, she'd actually had to divvy up a lot of the responsibilities. But Wally was a part of the main trick, and thus, he got the sparkly outfit.]

[She started off alone. a series of manipulation tricks, using everything from cards to scarves to even a few drink glasses. Were they real? Absolutely. How was she doing it? Yeah, right, like she'd ever tell. Even her assistants weren't privy to this one.]

[But, of course, the big finale came with the Saw trick. ~~No, not like the movie. Not exactly.~~ It was a trick Richie had built for her the previous day, and one she rewarded him for by indulging his tablecloth idea; Wally stood at the very top of the large box, surrounded by a series of delicate trinkets, as she gracefully pulled away the sheet to reveal what was below. Wally then went into the box, and with his face still visible, she proceeded to slice him into thirds.]

[Then she tried to put him back together. Hmm. Didn't work. She got the order of his body parts wrong, and suddenly his head was where his torso should've been. So she tried again...but, this time, when she opened up the bottom box...there was nothing there. Same for the middle box. Pretending to panic, she then bend down and opened the top...only to reveal none other than Robin Jr, her pet Siberian Husky, wearing a pair of bunny ears on his head. Her own little spin on the rabbit-out-of-a-hat classic.]

[He did not seem quite so pleased with the costume arrangement.]

[Picking him up, the now-smiling magician gave her surprise assistant a quick kiss on the forehead for being a good sport, and together, they took a bow.]

[Like he'd miss this.

He spent the entire performance literally popcorn.gif-ing and marveling at the fact that she actually got Wally to participate. That was the real magic.

He knows it's all slight of hand, not a hint of her usual spells, but it's still pretty incredible. Not that that's shocking; she is the heir to some of the greatest stage magic in the world.

Robin walks up to her afterward, clapping.]

Hope you remembered to put my best friend back together.

	[She's still on a bit of a high after the performance, taking a moment from her cleanup to wave back. Moving to sit on the edge of the stage, her feet dangling loosely, propping herself up with one hand on either side of her. She leans forward, pleased.] I'll take that as a compliment.
