Bandits have been attacking both lone travelers and caravans along the main road over the past few nights. The attacks have been concentrated in the north, but all travelers should exercise caution when leaving the city, especially after sundown. As always, the Rangers are working tirelessly to capture these criminals and there will be increased patrols until these bandits are caught and brought to justice.

There have also been more and more Antlion sightings of late, especially around Tarq Wood. Antlions are usually docile creatures that do not attact humes unless provoked, but that is not always the case. Again, please exercise caution.

Recent events, I believe, have spurred a great deal of initiative from all members of the guild, and I've been very proud of your individual efforts over the course of this past month. There have been some new changes in leadership however, the lesser details of which I won't comment on, but the short of it is this: Councilman Drake Liu and Councilwoman Aspel Cassul will be made available to field your daily questions and concerns for here on. They have both pledged themselves to be as diligent and responsive to future challenges as the Fighters Guild both needs and expects. There will be an open reception at Bahamut Hall this afternoon, as is typical in these events, and I do hope many of you can make it.

I'm going to hold a low-budget auction for everyone with tight purse strings. Maybe we won't raise as much money for the docks not that is any reason anyone actually we but don't tell me you can't benefit from an apple core, starting bid 20 gil!! It's not just any apple core, it's one that the king possibly ate with his actual teeth and lips so it's practically blessed, isn't it? Not that I know much about that kind of thing, pardon me and don't tell the old man. But come on!! Apple cores, maybe a few hair ribbons, a few lucky and well-beloved stuffed toys? Now that's quality.

Jokes aside, sometimes I wish entertainment around this city were a little more on the wallet-friendly side. I don't have gil to throw around to buy dresses for balls I'm never invited to and would never atte and festivals. I think the closest I get to going out these days is dressing up for the farmer's market to bring home some new and exciting root vegetables.

Do you all understand what I am saying? Root vegetables are the highlight of my life. Clearly I need to start taking lessons in something and join a guild. I think I'd make an excellent bard, thank you very much.

Men and women need convictions. Perhaps it's that that separates us from the animal kingdom; although, it would seem the laws of nature act of its own prescribed notion of conviction, but regardless it's a palpable and real measurement to the societal, mental, and emotional health of the human being, of any sentient being that can be able to grasp that sense of conviction.

Yet it is on some days those convictions are put to the test, and you begin to question each motive you've ever done. You begin to ask yourself, are the ways in which we battle everyday to make our lives better, more complex, even remotely worth it if there are people around who are killing, murdering, and simply depriving innocents of their livelihoods?

I realize, of course, that the opinion I'm spewing forth today is hardly timely, and comes on the heels of brilliant investigative work. That, really, I'm delayed in my response, but really it took time for me to come to terms with my very own convictions.

My convictions are my own, and anyone who knows me well will know them. That being said, it's at these darkest of times we begin to understand that our convictions must be altered, not changed but altered in such a way, that they change perhaps even the very fabric of the person you are. I have sat too long staring at my experiments, when I realize my brilliance could be used in far more notorious and useful of ways.

So, that being said, the person or thing responsible for these grotesque murders will be stopped. By me. I will, of course, require help, but I will not sit quietly in my study letting the world pass by when there are those being killed under my watch. My conviction is that no one should be allowed to die until it is simply their time, and it is with that strongest of convictions that I will make certain that such things do not occur so long as I have the power and ability to stop it.

So... without further ado, anyone with any... substantial information should come forward. I realize there are 'privacy' issues, so if you wish to discuss this in private do so, but know that I'm your best option in catching these killers.
