ooc: though it is not being announced, the MG Council will be giving up a fraction of their salary until such a time as reconstruction efforts are complete, and said reconstruction efforts are taking part as specified in the mod post, and below. To all citizens of Emillion,
This is a message from Emillion’s Mages’ Guild: a message of apology which we hope will at least be considered, if not accepted, by those reading it on this day. Our words can only convey so much, and there is a grief for which not even the most skilled Orator’s words could speak, which can only be mended by the respect for what was lost in every action; perhaps not even then. And yet, there are words that cannot go unsaid.
The tragedy that recently befell the city has torn the districts asunder, and though it will take time, buildings and property can be restored to their original conditions. Hume losses are far more difficult to recover from. Not even the most skilled of our healers could bring the deceased back, or mend their loved ones’ suffering. The Mages’ Guild would like to offer our most heartfelt apologies to every citizen reading this, and every victim that could not be saved, and our most sincere thanks to those who gave their lives to ensure others could live. Your sacrifice shall be honored, and remembered.
It is with a heavy heart that we are conveying this message, for the part played by our Guild in this tragedy cannot be ignored. At this time, we cannot be sure what led our former Guildmaster, the lady Vivian Xi, to embark on such a destructive rampage and not only forsake her duty, shared by us all, to keep the city safe, but furthermore turn against it and its citizens. However, an investigation of the events leading up to the tragedy, as well as the monster that accompanied her, is currently being carried out by our Guild, in order to ensure that this tragedy may never be repeated again.
Rebuilding efforts are currently underway, and will have the full support of our Guild. Furthermore, those who require healing may be treated by our white mages at clinics free of charge, and the cost of crystal transport between the districts for the general public will also be assumed by our Guild. These measures are nowhere near enough to compensate for the damage that was done, but we hope to atone for the recent tragedy by ensuring that Emillion can be rebuilt twice as strong as before. This is where our duty lies, and we will see to it that it is fulfilled, to the best of our ability.
Any persons in need of assistance at this time are welcome to come to our Guild; we will attempt to help in whichever way we can.
Sincerely,
Toku Matsudaira
Mages’ Guild Council
