Hey, guys! It's Alex here with my second boy, Desmond Stanford. :)
He's a junior who has been at Dalton since freshman year. Desmond has two moms, and when he was little, he thought this was the norm. As he got older, he realized that a lot of people weren't accepting of his parents, and he was teased and bullied by a lot of his elementary and middle school classmates because of his mothers. He has never really had friends before, or at least, no one that he could consider a true friend. Desmond went into such a deep depression in sixth grade, that he turned to self-harm to deal with the loneliness and bullying. He has scars on his arms and legs from scratching himself to the point of bleeding and from burning himself. Desmond was caught by one of his mothers a couple months after he started 7th grade, and she ended up taking him to a psychiatrist, where he was diagnosed with depression. He went to therapy up until he started going to Dalton, so although it has helped him quit burning, he still tends to scratch himself from time to time when he gets too upset/angry/anxious. Desmond tries to keep his scars hidden, so you'll very rarely see him without a jacket or long sleeves and jeans/long pants on.
His lack of friends when he was younger turned him into a pretty reclusive teenager. Desmond hates large groups of people, so it'd be hard to get him to go to a good portion of events. He wants to get out more, but his introverted personality tends to make him not want to initiate things like conversations or hanging out. He's more likely to communicate with people if they come to him, not the other way around. He's trying to get out of his reclusive shell, but it's rather hard for him.
If someone does break through the shell and manages to become friends with him, they'll realize that he's a bit of a goof. He has a great sense of humor, though be careful about what you joke about around him. School-wise, Desmond excels in English and French. He's a very caring, protective, and loyal friend once you get to know him. He is also easy to please and flexible, so finding something to do with him wouldn't be too hard. Under everything, he's a sweet and intelligent guy, and he needs some friends to pull him out of his shell.
