Professor Trelawney had 6th and 7th year Divination students help her set up tables in the Great Hall. The type of Divination they were using was Astragalomancy, the study of divining with the casting of dice. It was the 6th years subject for the past two weeks, and 7th years had had it last year. Every student who had volunteered for the project was given a small table with a chair for themselves and a chair for the person they would be divining for.

One of Professor Alecto Carrow's many interests is Divination, so she was naturally excited by the ordeal. She does not know much about astragalomancy, but she did seek out Professor Trelawney to make predictions for her. Professor Trelawney, an expert in both Divination and the art of exaggeration, reveals that Professor Carrow will be facing a dangerous illness within a year. Professor Carrow angrily yells that Professor Trelawney is a fraud and useless, and Professor Trelawney quietly states that the fates do not lie.

Alecto greeted the class warmly and asked everyone how they were doing (expecting a chorus of positive answers). After everyone had settled down she brought out a large box (three feet square) and told everyone that they would be building their own version of 'Wiztopia'. They will be making dioramas in their groups. The assignment is due in one week, and they are given 'team captains' to ensure that everyone does the required amount of work.
