How I learned Maggie Sawyer is gay
With [info]gargoylekitty's post about Maggie Sawyer and Toby Raynes, I thought I would post the pages where I learned Maggie Sawyer was gay. It was during the REIGN OF THE SUPERMAN saga, and features great Jackson Guice artwork.

Well, the only reason she'd mention that is if... oh. )

Aunt May and her boyfriends
Doop posted this from Mark Millar's Trouble miniseries. An attempt by Marvel to use modern soap opera in a romance comics way and shoehorn in a shocking twist to the origin of Spider-man. It was received terribly and isn't canon.

I personally believe Roger Stern had in mind a sort-of 'this is how you SHOULD have done it' style retcon when he wrote 'Just A Sweet Old Song' for The Amazing Spider-man Family 7. Because it's still a recent comic, I had to chop up the bits I could show, but it also mentions the events that were originally shown here, also by Doop. As far as we know, this IS current canon.

(Roughly 4 pages worth of scans under the cut)

Hobgoblin Lives!
The mini that finally closed the book to the Hobgoblin Saga the it's original creator, Roger Stern, intended it. Well, at least revealing who he intended would be the original Hobgoblin, not Ned Leeds.

Someone once requested back at the old Scans Daily of this particular arc from Spectacular Spider-Man vol. 1 #259-261. Gather round Goblin fans, you don't want to miss this! It's the first and only meeting between the original Green Goblin and Hobgoblin, Norman Osborn and Roderick Kingsley! Though Dial Uppers be warned there be twenty one pages of scans here.

Hank Pym's "One Perfect Moment" of Self-Actualization
We had a request for this in the new monthly thread, so I'm sneaking it in under the wire. Here we have 2 1/2 pages from Avengers #229, my crops but not my scans. The setup: For months and months Egghead and the Masters of Evil have been running Hank Pym around like a wind-up toy, and forced him to work on a longevity machine for Egghead.

My Perfect Steve Rogers Moment
There's a little Story behind this issue and as it's my first post I thought I'd wax nostalgic.

I was like seven or eight years old and for Halloween, we learned some guy (which was probably a teenager who "outgrew" his collection. Everyone seems old at that age.) was giving out comics instead of candy. After a lot of whining to our mothers, three of my friends and I got to go to the house. I remember one got a Spider-Man comic with the Scorpion trying to kill JJJ, but I can't remember what other two kids got. Hell, I don't even remember their names. The issue I received though, blew my little single digit mind away and forever cemented Steve Rogers as my favourite super hero of all time...or until 1988-9 when I received JLI #7 and Ted Kord quickly tied him.

There is actually one other Captain America moment that ties with this in my mind, but it's from a What If...?(#44, 1984) that I long ago lost as a little kid. It's the original "What if Steve Rogers Was Not Revived Until Today?," not the two-parter from the 1990's. As that's an imaginary story, I chose to go with this instead. I'll leave the speech Steve gives at the end of that one for someone else.

Norman and Kolina: A Love Story

In Unthinkable,  Dr. Doom sacrifices his childhood love Valeria to a group of demons to gain ULTIMATE POWER and wears a new suit harvested from her skin. A lot of people here didn't like it, saying that it was too evil for Doom and it's something that Norman Osborn would do instead. I disagreed, saying that even Norman wouldn't go as far to do that to his loved ones.

And it was asked, "Does Norman really have any loved ones?" And the answer is yes, he does. Even if you were to say he doesn't love Harry (and I think he does deep-down, but that's for another day), Norman has still shown a softer side in the past when he's not trying to ruin Spider-Man's life, as evidenced in the Revenge of the Green Goblin miniseries...
