Hank Pym's "One Perfect Moment" of Self-Actualization
We had a request for this in the new monthly thread, so I'm sneaking it in under the wire. Here we have 2 1/2 pages from Avengers #229, my crops but not my scans. The setup: For months and months Egghead and the Masters of Evil have been running Hank Pym around like a wind-up toy, and forced him to work on a longevity machine for Egghead.

Hawkeye shoots an arrow into the barrel of that gun, accidentally killing Egghead, which opens up a whole new can of worms. But it's not on Hank, for a rare change!

::tiny noise of squee:: I love this whole storyline so, so much. It's part of the reason I refuse to accept Chuck Austen's handling of Hawkeye and Hank.

I am not Ant-Man anymore. I am not Giant-Man or Goliath or Yellowjacket.

I am the Wasp.

I like to think he's only holding the name until Janet comes back.

You know so that someone wrong doesn't take it like one of Norman's "reformed" villains.

Considering how little respect some of the big names behind these current events have for Jan ::coughquesadacough::, I would be utterly unsurprised if one of the "reformed" villains did take the name with Osborn's sanction, and publicly denounce Pym's use of it, and it worked, turning public opinion against him. It would make about as much sense as anything else currently going on in that crapsack world.

That's a pretty sweet little moment, all right. Hank Pym's life is so messed up, he's practically the proverbial 'man's got issues' guy in comics (next to Doc Magnus of the Metal Men, of course). It's nice to see him finally get to take charge of his own life and straighten it out, even if it's only for a moment.
