Dr. Strange: Dead Cat Syndrome
From DR< STRANGE #49. Villains do nasty things. Killing a new character's cat in order to disguise yourself as said dead cat is EXTRA nasty.

Dr. Strange received a phone call from Morganna Blessing, who would go on to become an important supporting character in the series.

Basically, Morganna realizes there's more to Dr. Strange than meets the eye and calls him up. (Strange is in the Yellow Pages?) Mordo is able to eavesdrop from a "point in infinity" and sees Morganna as a way of getting back to Earth and defeating Strange once and for all.

Pet murder. Now that's low.

Mordo died in an above-average Strange story by J.M. DeMatteis, which I may post. He somehow came back in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #500, although that was never fully explained. If he will appear in the new Dr. Strange or Dr. Voodoo series, I hope some reasoning behind his return.

	They briefly formed a boy band, but eventually disbanded after Williams accidentally sang one of Strange's incantations and their performance summoned Shuma-Gorath into the backroom of a New Jersey pub. (Reply to this) (Parent)

	Mordo coming back to life is kind of part of his schtick. He's done it a couple of times. I think Dr. Strange comics tends to work much better in Black and White. It lets you appreciate the cracktastic patterns more. (Reply to this)

Why wouldn't Strange be in the phone book? Even though most of his neighbors think he's a harmless kook instead of an actual sorcerer, and he's not doing the neurosurgeon thing anymore, he's still about as accessible as one can get when it comes to superheroes, especially since he uses his real name for both his new-agey-nut persona and his sorcerer work.

And Jesus, poor cat. What'd it ever do to you, Mordo?

The Roger Stern/Marshall Rogers/Terry Austin Dr. Strange is one of my favourite comics, thanks for posting. Shame it's never been reprinted - would look good on my shelf in a nice hardcover, beside the Marshall Rogers/Terry Austin Silver Surfer hardcover that never happened either. And that splash page is fantastic - the layout is so complex and succinct at the same time. Glad it doesn't have a sound-effect - you can hear it anyway!
