An SD1.0 repost and a genuine "Grail Piece" acqusition!! :)
Chances are that if you owned ANY DC licensed merchandise in the late 70's or early 80's it either featured art by, or based on, work done by Jose-Luis Garcia-Lopez and Dick Giordano, two stalwarts of the organisation, who produced acres of top notch, lovely licensing art.

The art would be used from notepads to action figures, from t-shirts to underoos, and so had to be both simple and stylish, easily reproduced and instantly recognisable. They could hardly have asked for better!

The attached pics are scanned as best I can, and hopefully might bring a little happiness to your desktop should you wish to tweak them that way.

Bruce and Dick and Batman and Robin

Posting this as a follow up to the first part, here (http://asylums.insanejournal.com/scans_daily/941798.html) to show the progression of Bruce and Dick's relationship. How it started, and how much it meant to each of them by the time Dick went away to college.

Because a couple of people asked for it! Black Canary in the Grell Years - pt 2
This post is just fluff, really, a whole bunch of cute scenes that I think you guys might like to see, considering how none of it is collected.

And for fun!

Request: Batman, Child Whisperer pt. 1 of 2
Runespoor7 requested any examples of interaction between Batman and children. I have two examples, this one from a 1980 World's Finest story, and in the next post a more recent interaction circa 2004. Here we have 4 pages and 2 panels of a 17-page story (my calculator says 1/3 of 17 pages is 5.666666etc. pages), "The Power of the Pi-Meson Man!"

Women in Dumpsters: Batman and Jason as Robin
Batman #414, #421, #422; 7 scans from each issue, plus the cover.

These three issues form a bigger story arc. The basic plot is such: there's been a series of killings of young women in Gotham, and Batman is searching the murderer. There are a few headdesky plot points, but don't let that drive you away: it's a very good story. #422 especially is wonderfully constructed, but the rest is nonetheless interesting on its own.

I'm posting it because it's an arc than ran during Jason's period as Robin, and though Jason only appears in #422, the story deals with some themes that are inherently linked to his character. Emotional involvement, anger issues, the difference between what is “just” and what is legal, attitude toward women-as-victims, all of which are expanded upon. My comments regarding how the action relates to Jason's character are in italics.

Batman #422 is Jason's last appearance before Garzonas, in Batman #424.

Robin's Worst Week - A requested reposting from the old s_d
This is from Batman 246 - Story by Frank Robbins, Art by Dick Dillin, Irv Novick and Dick Giordano

It's one of those covers that I'm sure just LEAPT off of the gets endlessly repeated by those with delightfully prurient minds.. in other words the entire membership of scans_daily!

But what goes on inside this testament to the perils of dabbling with autoerotic asphyxiation horror and fear? This masterclass in "Sidekick in peril"-dom? Now the story can be told... well, selected chunks of it. (I think this totals out at around 7 pages from a 23 page story.)

The original origin of the original non-original Robin Pt 2
Following on from part one of this story...

Okay, quick recap - New villain Killer Croc is making his move on the Gotham underworld, and Joker has brought together an alliance of badguys to take him down, preferably after he's gained power, so Joker can slip in and take over himself with minimal effort on his part.

Batman asked a couple of civilians, circus aerialists Joe and Trina Todd, for help in stopping Killer Croc, and they met a grisly end when they investigated too far. Robin and Batgirl know this, and Robin has gone nuts as the Todd's were personal friends.

The original origin of the original non-original Robin

Again from the archives, the start of a posting series I never got around to finishing, I hope this encourages me to keep going! :)

This is essentially, the introduction of Jason Todd to the Batverse, showcasing his introduction to the world of Robin-ness, reveal how pre- Crisis Batman handled so many things differently from his Post-Crisis, Frank Miller self, and also highlight the gorgeous, rich artwork of the late, great Don Newton (inked by Alfredo Alcala), one of the most under-appreciated Batman artists ever IMHO.

Next time; Jason 1.0's baptism of fire... and Croc and Joker's schemes come to fruition... or not...

Same Robin-time (kinda), same Robin channel..
