Um... hello? [After a moment, the video function turns on and a brunette can be seen, confusion on her face; then it flips back off and goes back to voice.] I don't really understand what... oh, a map! That's useful...

Um, sorry. I'm just figuring out how this device works. Uh, I don't really understand what's going on here. Arrested? By an AI? You mean a computer? This is all like something out of a bad scifi movie... I can't stay here, I was in the middle of writing an essay! And I have this really important project I was working on for the expo... I'll get in a lot of trouble if I flake out!

Um, if the things I did really were that bad... I can always come back for the weekends or something? Or you can put me on house arrest with one of those ankle collars. But please, please, please just send me home! Please?

Open:

[ Suzaku starts every morning by taking a swim in the Athletic Complex, promptly at six am. he's doing his laps a little more slowly than usual today, though. you might notice him and think he looks -- really distracted. feel free to chat him up! ]

Closed to Housemates:

[ his walk home from swimming takes a little longer today; he drags his feet, spends a lot of time looking up at the sky, and just doesn't hurry. it's a little after seven-thirty when he finally gets to the stoop, opens the door, and calls in softly ]

I'm home!

[She sounds a distracted and the usual vibrancy of her voice is absent.] I forgot to tell everyone, but Acumen will be delivering the welcome baskets now. I thought it might be best since we never know what will be happening on the days people arrive now, and it's so hard to predict where they will be. I hope no one minds too much. I know it's not as personable, but I didn't want them to be missed.

Oh, and most of the course descriptions are done. Please turn yours in if you haven't already and you're teaching a class. We should get the school started soon.

[There is a long pause before she says what is really on her mind. She thought about making it private, but she's not sure who might know something or who would want to know...]

Cornelia didn't come home last night. I've been trying to call her, but...

[It's serious. She knows that much. She could ask Acumen, but she doesn't want to hear that detached voice telling her that her sister is lost in the destablilizer or in the hospital.]

[A non-human creature in a dusty, filthy grey robe blinks into the monitor as the feed cuts on. She sits square in the middle of a walkway with a ball-and-chain around her spindly ankle, welcome basket next to her as she picks away at the food while studying the pamphlet. All in all, she doesn't seem particularly distressed about her situation.] Greetings to all, Marina Asylum!

I could not imagine a better welcome from anyone, especially a prison! Thank you very much.

[There’s a lot of what sounds like button smashing before the image of a blond teen appears on the screen.]

Uh…hello? Are people actually in this thing? I need some help getting out of here. This is all a mistake and I need to get back to my training!

[His bottom lip pokes out in what he’ll never admit is a pout and speaks half to himself.]

Yamato-san won’t like that I’m being kept here. And trust me; you don’t want to make him mad. Not to mention Sakura-chan!

[This isn’t a threat at all. They both really are quite scary when angry.]

He has been keeping secrets from her. Why should she keep his secrets for him?]

Tieria-san. Are you available to speak today?

[If he's used to an extra bit of warmth in her voice when she greets him, he'll be taken aback by how flat and monotone her voice sounds. Just like when they first met. This is not a task she looks forward to, but it is necessary.]

The 66th Day
07 June 2010 at 08:35 pm
Marina Asylum Denizens
Good morning, inmates. It is the 66th day of the third generation, and newly apprehended criminals will be arriving in the facility.

Due to recent questions on the topic, I would remind all inmates on the policy concerning pets. When a pet is adopted from the pet cafe, a contract is signed-- if the inmate is unable to sufficiently care for the pet in any way, the ownership rights and pet will be revoked. It is because of this contract that one cannot care for a pet in place of the inmate that is unable to do so. It must be returned to the cafe immediately, where those who wish to care for the pet may adopt it on their own unless they are already in possession of a pet. The limit is one pet per inmate.

Inmate Komui Lee, this system warns that the addition of stimulative chemicals to food made widely available to inmates will not be tolerated in the future. Please refrain from using fellow inmates as test subjects, with the exception of those who give clear permission.

Sarabi!

[The video feed is on and the more-than-likely unexpected image of a lion with a black mane appears on the screen. The welcome basket and communicator are lying somewhere across the floor from him, and he has a less than amused expression on his face. In fact, he appears furious at someone, and is mumbling rather violent and explicit ways of punishing someone, presumably the one he was just yelling for.

After a moment or two he looks around, his rage being slightly replaced by confusion as he waits for the person he called for to come. He’s only now realizing the change in scenery and walks over to the communicator and brochure he’s thrown away, trying to find some form of explanation. When he finds it, his expression becomes even angrier and the throws himself to the ground in frustration, lying on his stomach with his paws crossed in front of him. The communicator is also replaced, so that he'll be understood when he speaks although his words are laced with sarcasm and malice.]

Oh, goody, just what I need after putting up with those idiots. What next? Is Mufasa going to come and deliver my punishment? Or even better, maybe it’ll be Simba!

[The audio clicks on. The man sounds stressed.] Prison? [He sighs. He honestly doesn’t care where he is. This place can’t be a real prison, anyways- he would be told about it and he would have a trial.]

[Laughs for a second. This whole idea of prison was stupid. He wouldn't be caught.

He looks at his shoulder and remembers what had happen before. It didn't hurt, though- there was no wound there, but his shirt was awfully dirty. And the smell of blood was strong in the air.]

Is there anywhere I can get something else to wear?

[The video clicks on, showing a man with his right shoulder area covered in blood. There’s a rip in his shirt where it appears the blood is coming from.] As you can see, [he guesses this thing is recording] I'm not very clean right now. [a smirk.] Now, who was the one who put me in here? [of course he ignored most of the welcome message, and he hasn't even seen the welcome basket.] And... [you can hear the clinking of a chain,] this is quite childish. A ball and chain? Come on, you can do better than this.

Hello...

Uhm, Miwako isn't really sure what to say to all of this. It's a lot to take in all at once. But I guess the first thing to say would be to thank the welcoming committee for the lovely basket~! That's so thoughtful! It's adorable!

Miwako was never aware that what she was doing was a crime, you know! I wonder why it is. Will Arashi be coming here, too, then? Since he's a criminal along with Miwako...

Oh, but that means so is Caroline.

And if Caroline's a criminal, that means George is a criminal, too! Oh-- that would mean George is a criminal mastermind, probably! Especially because he's bisexual - maybe a super villain? But George is a gentleman, so he could never really be a criminal - that's not proper!

And George and Isabella are so close, and Isabella is a proper lady, so he could never be a criminal, either; and Caroline and George were both honors students, so that would be like saying Hiro was a criminal, too, since Hiro and Caroline went to the same school, but Hiro definitely isn't. He might still be a virgin, though; I'm not sure.

I think, then, because of all of this, that Miwako's real crime was speeding! That would make more sense. They could have just given me a ticket instead, though... Even if this is a very nice prison that even gives you welcome baskets with scented hand lotion, Miwako doesn't really want to go to jail. Especially not on another planet. But maybe if this is the Glitter Planet...--

In any case, my name is Sakurada Miwako~! It's nice to meet all of you! Miwako is already done crying, since it says in the brochure that we can't get out, so we might as well just make friends while we're here. I think that Arashi will be really mad at the replacement Miwako, though. Poor Ara...

[The video clicks on to show a well-groomed man in a black suit, with a extremely irritated expression on his face.] What is this nonsense... [Sounding very agitated and looking very agitated;] Grell Sutcliff, what kind of joke is this? I have had enough of your games.

…Putting me in here and saying that this is a prison--it is unacceptable. [He motions around himself- he's in the park in Sector 4, so anyone walking by might notice him wandering around, muttering to himself.] And what is worse, my Death-Scythe is gone. [He took the welcome message as a complete joke, too.]

*The tall man with the long pale hair and the heavy cloak watches his robotic guards with trepidation. When he isn't making sure his guards are behaving themselves, he walks along, dragging quite the ball and chain, the chain snaking its way into the depths of a cavalier style boot. Castlevania held such fiendish metallic creatures, powered by steam and wielding hidden axes that hacked away at anything in their paths. It made him wish he still had a weapon, any weapon, hanging from his belt.

He holds the communicator in his hand. He hasn't thrown it away, but he's still not sure what to make of such a relic just yet. If you watch him taking in his surroundings, you'll notice his eyes are yellow, like an owl's or a wolf's. He seems human and yet...

Will you approach this silent and wary man?*

(OOC: Alucard has an excellent sense of smell and will be able to tell if you're human or otherwise, FYI.)

[Audio] I wonder... Maybe if I hit this...

[A video feed goes on cutting to a young teenage girl with bright red hair coming down to her shoulders. Her blues eyes that usually carry warmth quickly narrow though. In, fact, Kairi looks far from her usual complacent self. She has a big old frown on her face as she reads and rereads the message that she seems to have just now taken notice of. Whether she knows it's a communicator or not yet is another question. Kairi isn't exactly tech savy. Comes with the whole fooling-around-outside-all-the-time deal.]

What? But I didn't do anything! How can this be right?

[Kairi grits her teeth with a narrowed brow. Something is definitely off about this place. And as pretty as it may seem on the outside, it's still a ward for criminals. And she's pretty certain that she has committed no crimes worth this punishment if she has committed any at all.

Kairi closes her eyes and the frown slowly vanishes as a breeze picks up. Where she ended up was even crueler... When she first woke up, she thought she had just dozed off on the beach. Until she realized it wasn't her beach. Or island, for that matter.]

I wonder where Riku is... And...

[She looks down and that's about when she notices the basket with the pamphlet.]

[Setsuna knew that Tieria had been feeling down. It wasn't hard considering that they shared an apartment, or the way he sounded in his communication this morning. Setsuna might not be the best with understanding emotions, but some emotions were so obvious you literally have to not have a heart to comprehend what it was the other felt. And, in his own way, the loss of Feldt had hit him too. But Allelujah's disappearance had perhaps tempered him, or maybe forcing it down and showing nothing was the only way he could deal with it at all.

But none of that helped Tieria, and Setsuna.... wanted to help. In his readings, he had come across the notion that food cheered people up when they were feeling bad, and it seemed a good option at the moment. So, in the space of twenty minutes, he'd made a small breakfast for Tieria - breakfast potato cakes, scrambled eggs, and a glass of orange juice with toast and raspberry jam.

And he's knocking on Tieria's door, not quite sure what to say, but perhaps words would come soon enough.]

Excuse me-- [ ahem ] I don't recall purchasing a bluetooth, but it seems this is marginally different, isn't it?

This certainly is a surprise, though. I'd have hoped for a hospital, but I suppose a prison wouldn't be that much different. I suppose I'll just have to hope that this is broadcasting, hmm?

[ and a low chuckle ]

What odd circumstances I seem to have found myself in, though. I don't suppose I can complain, but as I understood it, the justice system wasn't nearly so corrupt in Japan. Imprisonment without a trial? Jumping the gun, don't you think?

[ it's quiet for a moment then ]

I don't suppose there's a pay phone around here, is there? I'd like to make a call, but seem to have lost my mobile.

And if not that, then at least a vending machine where I can purchase some cigarettes. I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
