This year, Marcus and the boys had decided to do something a little different. With the schedule for Nationals keeping everyone busy once the weekend hit, they had decided to do something a little different this year. Rather than their usual night out at the pub for a few beers to celebrate, they'd arrange a much larger party. Lexi, at least, had wanted to just skip over the birthday thing since none of them would have been able to make it that weekend, but Marcus, Clint, and Adrian weren't going to allow for that. Somehow, for some stupid reason, Marcus had thought it would be a good runner up for Clint's bachelor party in March. Needless to say, it had not turned out to be as entertaining as what he had planned for two weeks down the road. For one, he'd rented out Bletchley's. While the place was comfortable and a favourite of theirs, the girls weren't going to appreciate the half naked women that made up most nights. So sadly, gone were the dancers, instead replaced by slightly less provocative servers circling the room with any and all sorts of drinks; both men and women. He would, at the very least, not be yelled at for thinking only of the men. There were also plenty of tables with a variety of food. No point in getting everyone drunk on an empty stomach. He wasn't going to be the designated flyer tonight.
He had also gone above and beyond [at least where he was concerned] and invited all of their friends ... including the bloody Gryffindors. He was sure they'd pulverize the delicate balance of the place, but it'd make Katie happy ... which for some stupid reason, he'd decided was something he wanted to see happen. Regardless of his opinions, the invites had been sent out and it was much, much to late to change his mind.
The vast majority of the guests had already arrived before Emma had managed to wrangle the two blondes into the club. Unfortunately for Emma, she'd been stuck with girl duty for the simple fact that none of them wanted to wait around for three women to get ready ... well, one woman, Katie, and Lexi. Either way, the surprise element seemed to work as neither one of them had been expecting the group they were met by and both had seemed genuinely happy about the effort. So much so that Lexi had spent a good fifteen minutes snogging Clint, which Marcus thought was entirely unfair. He was positive he'd done much more work than Clint.
Lexi, for her part, had embraced the chance to just be herself for the night. If there was one day she was allowed to ditch all the dresses, skirts, and uncomfortable blouses, it was her birthday. She felt like it'd been so long since she'd been able to pull out her own, familiar clothes that it took her longer than normal to choose. Ultimately, it would always boil down to the same thing. Jeans, boots, tee, and leather jacket. She was a simply creature of habit. Granted, it took less than an hour before her jacket had been shrugged off and tossed over the back of the chair.
"This is pretty awesome. I'm impressed."
