Emma nodded, knowing about the brunches. Ade had mentioned it to her on numerous occasions but had never invited her. She watched them across the room, suddenly feeling like she was part of this life. "Brunches seem to be common among the wealthy," she murmured, remembering the numerous she'd been forced to attend. "My grandfather has one once a month. The entire family. It's an event." There had been smaller family brunches when her father had been alive but nothing since her sister and father had passed. There was no one left to brunch with.
As for Katie and Marcus, Emma smiled, watching them. Marcus kissing her before she wandered off. They were oddly cute. It was strange. "They seem happy," she said, nodding. "I'm glad for them. It's a little odd but they seem like a good fit. Odd fit. But a good one. I don't know Marcus very well but I don't think I've ever seen him as happy as he seems when they're together." She snorted, covering her lips, embarrassed at the sound. "Apologies but it's just so unlikely that..." She gestured towards them. "Works."
Emma wiped her eyes and smiled, staring at her ring, her other hand resting lightly on her stomach. She couldn't seem to stop touching it. She wasn't sure if it was because she was still in shock and just wanted to make sure it was there and this wasn't some dream. "You realize," she said, smiling at Lexi. "This means we're going to be related by marriage. Cousins-in-law." It was quite exciting, really. She liked having a family and being apart of one was something she'd longed for for a very long time.
