Emma was surprised when Lexi cam to sit next to her and she raised a brow, her eyes moving back to Ade. As she spoke, Emma nodded. "They are," she said, agreeing. There was nothing remotely similar about those three. Except, perhaps, their taste in drinks because all three of them had a whiskey in hand. "Though," she said, eyes drifting to Marcus. "I'm not sure I'd say Marcus is 'devil-may-care.' That implies a recklessness that I don't believe he has. I'm convinced everything he does is calculated. Except when it comes to Katie." He had seemed to adopt a less... obnoxious personality since he'd gotten involved with Katie. Or maybe he was just distracted.
"I think he's in love with her," she said, watching them together. They rarely went without touching and she wasn't even sure Marcus noticed it when Katie broke contact, he found another spot for his hand. It was amusing. "It's like you and Clint. He always has to be touching her. It's sweet."
Lexi's next question had her smiling and she nodded. "Well aware," she said, glancing down at her pants. She liked them. "They're Dolce and Gabana. I rarely wear prints but it looks to be a popular style this spring." She propped her chin on her hand, fingers tracing the small bump of her stomach. "Which is wonderful as they're stretchy enough to accommodate my growing bulge. As for why I'm sitting here... different reasons, really. I'm absolutely exhausted and I was thinking about my sister."
Emma wasn't certain Lexi knew she'd even had a sister and while she wasn't quite sure she wanted to get into it. Emma was aware of Lexi's brother's death. She, of all people, would understand. "I, ah, don't know if you know the story but she was killed in a car accident when I was seventeen. She'd just had Oscar... and had only been married a little over a year." Her fingers found the heavy weight of her necklace. "I was just having a self-pitying moment. Thinking that I should be able to talk to her." She gave Lexi a sad, weary smile. "But I can't..."
She quickly wiped away a stray tear and cleared her throat. "Anyway, I don't want to be melancholy! It's your birthday celebration and I've been dying to take a look at your ring," she said, smiling. "I saw it from the other side of the room."
