Two stirs, a handful of rosemary, the clock chimes.

Severus spares a single glance for Harry, white-lipped and moaning.

Three ounces of newt tails, simmer, add the diced fennel, stir counterclockwise. Count for focus, for precision – this must be perfect.

Harry gasps, his puffs of breath visible in the cold dungeon air.

Five rose petals, added at precise intervals. Severus counts his own heartbeats, waits for the hourglass to empty.

Seven minutes, Harry’s pupils are dilated – it’s done.

Severus ladles the antidote into Harry’s mouth, follows it with kisses pressed to warm lips.

Nine kisses later, Harry blinks and smiles.
