Tangent Superman's Reign #1-3
Since it was requested time to post some Tangent Superman's Reign. I was a big fan of Tangent though my comic reading time came much after it ended.

It was a comic line that existed and was made of several one shots concerning different heroes within the same universe. Ones with name's like the regular DCU'ers but completely different otherwise, might post some of the old Tangent Stuff later as well but for now....the first three issues!

Basic set up...

E-9, the Tangent Universe and New Earth (erroneously labeled E-1 many times throughout the series) meet for the first (well, not actually they had a little prelude in Ion Gaurdian of the Universe and then a issue of JLA that led into the mini/maxi 12 issue series)

Issue 1 )
Issue 2 )

Issue 3! )

Monster: The taste of sugar
I love all of the tertiary characters in Monster. Urasawa's filler chapters are some of the most enjoyable parts of his books. Usually, it's because he peoples them with great one-shot characters. The eighteen year old girl providing medical treatment to her fellow Vietnamese illegal immigrants...the mercenary and the little girl...the country doctor with a troublesome patient...the British couple on a very sombre vacation...the ex-Nazi soldier, begging the place he loves for forgiveness...the psychologist performing a new experiment on children in an orphanage...they come and shine their own individual lights into the darkness, then fade away as the plot resumes.

I'd hate to inundate you with posts, so, I'll only share my favourite: Mr. Rosso.

Uncanny X-Men #183 - 'and they called it puppy love'
[info]neuhallidae requested Peter and Kitty's post-Secret Wars breakup. Because it features lovely, lovely John Romita Jr. art in nice quiet scenes, I decided to seek it out. 5 and 2/3 pages from a 22-page story in Uncanny X-Men #183, not my scans.

Black Canary Showdown!
With the recent retcon of Dinah's youth, I thought I would post some scans from JLA Incarnations #1 where Black Canary I and Black Canary II have quite the mother/daughter battle. Sure Cass and Shiva's fight was bloodier, but they weren't both wearing fishnets! 7 scans from a 35 page book.

Legion of Super-Heroes Annual #1 - "Dammit."
In the Computo post down the page, [info]crinosg requested a look at pre-Crisis Duo Damsel's more seriously handled reaction to the death of her third body.

That's in Legion of Super-Heroes Annual #1, in which Brainiac 5 uses the Computo technology in an attempt to help a comatose little girl, Danielle Foccart. Results: Predictable - Computo gets loose and takes control of LOSH's all-automated headquarters, whose systems begin attacking the Legionnaires - and locking out any potential help. One page, not my scan.

Best commercial to ever come out of Mexico
I looked and looked but I didn't see this video posted anywhere on the site. So, I present: the best commercial EVER. It features our favorite three women of comics. And it even has DC approval. (translation of the commercial and some comic covers featuring the Joker under the cut)

Big Barda vs. Knockout -- No, the other one
Way back when, Circe turned all the men into animals, leaving only women to save/destroy the world. As you'd expect, the execution was pretty half-assed, with just a few panels dedicated to each fight between characters before they got back to a "Who's Who" entry and waited for Grant Morrison to decide what zeitgeist they fit. But hey, that doesn't mean a few panels can't be awesome...

The Hudlin Manifesto
Taken from here...

A Historical Overview and a Look to The Future
By Reginald Hudlin

When the Black Panther debuted in the 60s, he was so cool,so perfect a character in concept and execution it's hard to believe it was done by two white guys. But when the white guys in question were Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, then it makes sense. But to truly appreciate their achievement, it;s worth putting it in context: No black super hero before or after the Black Panther is as cool as the Black Panther. Sure, others come close. Luke Cage is as brilliant a Marvel response to blaxploitation as Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D was to the JAMES BOND/ SUPER SPY Trend. And in the Milestone line of comics was wonderful and smart.

But the Black Panther is STILL the man.

He's the King of his own country! He's rich! He's tough enough to defeat the Fantastic Four and Captain America! He's suave and sophisticated! He's got cool super-technology! And his name is...THE BLACK PANTHER. Just the name alone was so ahead of its time. (I wonder if the Black Panther Party in Oakland had gottent famous first, would Stan have used the name anyway? Well, he didn't change it, so double-Kudos to him!)

And, for legality...

Majestic in "The Big Chill"
Greetings True Believers! I wanted to share with you one of my favorite Alan Moore stories. Wildstorm Spotlight #1 starring Mr. Majestic at the end of the universe.

Mr. Majestic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Majestic) has always been one of my favorite Superman analogs and this is one of his best stories. It's about a group of gods and immortals at the end of time. Enjoy!
