Community Rules

This comm is open to anyone to post codes, layouts, resources, tutorials, and requests for help and content. Of course, we do have some rules, so please read through them before jumping in; thank you!

■ Treat others the way you'd like to be treated. This is not a drama comm, and we expect you guys to be awesome and stay civil. If a situation gets out of hand, please contact a mod, and leave comments intact so we can accurately handle the situation.

■ Please tag your posts and check out the tagging guide if you have any questions!

■ Very long posts or posts formatted with your own div styling for organization should be behind a cut to save people's f-lists.

■ Work safe above the cut, please!

■ If posting codes, guides, etc. absolutely do not post content that you did not make. That's stealing, and it's super uncool, bro! If you are posting expanded/edited codes made by yourself using another user's coding as well, please be sure you have their permission (You do not need direct permission if they allow edits to be re-posted in their blanket rules.)
■ Do not post tutorials/links to tutorials that show people how to steal codes from other users. Again: Stealing. Not cool.
■ When asking for help with something, please check the help tags (help: coding, help: graphics, help: icons, help: layouts, help: other) first to see if your question has already been posted and answered to avoid duplicates.

■ We do not allow game ads to be posted on this comm since there are so many communities specifically for that already; if you're pimping a game as an addition to a regular post, that's fine. (OK: You post an RP code and mention in the post, oh hey, also I'm running this game! NOT OK: Posts dedicated to game promo.)

■ We do allow other types of community promos if they are related to RP (icon comms, other types of resource comms, etc.) Just shoot us a comment in our dropbox beforehand and we'll let you know if it's cool to post!

Since Trove is no longer being supported, does anyone have a good email app for iPhone that supports replying from email? I RP from my phone a lot and like being able to just type my comment right in the email and click post because it’s faster/easier but the iOS native mail client doesn’t support it!

maybe someone here can help me out! does anyone know of any bug where the inbox isn't accessible past a certain amount of notifications? mine's been totally inaccessible after a certain amount and all i want to do is clear it :/ all of my other accounts, the link is fine. it's just this one.

I’ve been using Blue Mail on my iPhone to reply to comments by email since the iOS Mail client doesn’t support it and with the latest update it’s no longer working for me :/ Does anyone have rece for other Mail clients that support multiple accounts and replying from email? I kind of tried a few from the Apple App Store but haven’t had any luck with one that works.

Heya! My co-mod and I have a flourishing new game and would like to run the occasional activity. We're thinking, for instance, a combination of writing prompt activities and OOC memes for both development and crack. I've encountered both in games before but I'm just wondering where they originate from. Do they just circle through games from player to player or is there a post somewhere where there's a bunch of ideas listed?

So, as some of you may know and some may not, Photobucket has changed their TOS and are breaking third party hosted images unless you pay four hundred bucks a year. That means it's no longer viable and all old images will need to be rehosted for those of us who have been 'caught' and received the dreaded email that tends to go directly to spam. (Also, frankly, everyone should back up their stuff just in case, as the Photobucket Facebook has people reporting not even being able to see their images on the site itself.) Imgur doesn't allow use as a 'content delivery network,' either, so it's not a good alternative. Anyone know where to host images now?

Hey guys! Is anyone else having trouble getting the desktop versions of AIM and Trillian to work? I can get my app going on my phone, but it's a total no-go on my computer and it's the same for some other people too.

I know that AIM started cutting third-party apps, but I hadn't heard Trillian was on the cutting block, and that still doesn't explain AIM itself not working. Anyway, I guess I'm just wondering if those of us who still use AIM are about to be very very unhappy campers lmfao. Sound off if you're having the same issues we are?

I swear I saw a post on this somewhere, but now I can't find it, so I might be crazy.

Does anyone know if it's possible to search using multiples tags. Aka, if I wanted to find all entries tagged with Character 1 AND Character 2 by searching both tags at once. It looks like you can do it on Dreamwidth and Livejournal, but I can't figure out how to make it work on IJ.

Hello, I've recently come back to RP and I'm finding that no matter how many times I tell my email (outlook.com) that notifications aren't spam they're ending up in the spam folder. Is there a way around this? Especially as I can't access the spam folder on my phone so it often looks like no one has commented me.

iOS email question!

At the beginning of December, I switched from Android to iPhone. I still regret it a little lol. The email app I was using on my Galaxy Note (BlueMail) doesn't work the same on iPhone and it's driving me bananas. I've tried Gmail, Email, a whole bunch of others. I run into two problems - either the app refreshes from the cloud if I've taken care of my emails on a computer but it won't let me reply to comments from the emails or it'll let me reply to comments from emails, but it won't auto refresh and when I've tried to set it up to auto refresh, BlueMail told me it didn't offer that setting for Gmail.

Does anyone have an email app that they like and works well for RPing on the go? The Gmail app won't reply to comments either, but I'm wondering if maybe leaving it open in my browser would work.

Anyone else out there having trouble uploading images to imgur? I have had a lot of trouble this morning uploading images for a layout. Some do, some don't, but size isn't an issue as the files are very small. I've cleared out cookies, tried new accounts, done everything.

Is there another photo hosting site out there that can upload multiple images at once? (I'd rather stay away from photobucket since I've had trouble with bad ads.)

I have a question, based on an on-going problem when it comes to running a game.

I've been managing rpgs for 10+ years, and for most of that time I've hosted my games on IJ, LJ, and Jcink forums. I've been split between IJ and Jcink, and ever since I first moved to journal rps, I prefer the atmosphere/community part of journals over forums, and all because of OOC expectations: namely the c-box, or lack thereof!

For anyone who doesn't know, a c-box is like a miniature chat-room you can paste into the side-bar or footer of your rpg forum. People use it mostly for ooc chatter, some staff use it for announcements, some games have a separate IC box and OOC box for rapid-fire 'non-canon' threads, things like that.

With journal games, since javascript isn't allowed, there are no c-boxes. You just log into your IC account, post, log out. You don't stay 'online, in the rpg' for hours on end, chatting to other players.
