Community Rules

This comm is open to anyone to post codes, layouts, resources, tutorials, and requests for help and content. Of course, we do have some rules, so please read through them before jumping in; thank you!

Treat others the way you'd like to be treated. This is not a drama comm, and we expect you guys to be awesome and stay civil. If a situation gets out of hand, please contact a mod, and leave comments intact so we can accurately handle the situation.

Please tag your posts and check out the tagging guide if you have any questions!

■ Very long posts or posts formatted with your own div styling for organization should be behind a cut to save people's f-lists.

Work safe above the cut, please!

■ If posting codes, guides, etc. absolutely do not post content that you did not make. That's stealing, and it's super uncool, bro! If you are posting expanded/edited codes made by yourself using another user's coding as well, please be sure you have their permission (You do not need direct permission if they allow edits to be re-posted in their blanket rules.)
■ Do not post tutorials/links to tutorials that show people how to steal codes from other users. Again: Stealing. Not cool.
When asking for help with something, please check the help tags (help: coding, help: graphics, help: icons, help: layouts, help: other) first to see if your question has already been posted and answered to avoid duplicates.

We do not allow game ads to be posted on this comm since there are so many communities specifically for that already; if you're pimping a game as an addition to a regular post, that's fine. (OK: You post an RP code and mention in the post, oh hey, also I'm running this game! NOT OK: Posts dedicated to game promo.)

We do allow other types of community promos if they are related to RP (icon comms, other types of resource comms, etc.) Just shoot us a comment in our dropbox beforehand and we'll let you know if it's cool to post!

Hey so I'm trying to code a new layout over at [info]agathachristie. Honestly it's a bit of a disaster at the moment!

I've decided for ease to use s1 generator (lol this might be a mistake). Anyway what I'm currently struggling to do is.

1 - get the topbar you know flush against the top of the page. I think its to do with z-index but I haven't had a chance to look into that yet so halp?

2 - get the entries to appear in a grid layout of 4x4

The relevant bits of code are here

What I'm trying to code is basically this

character icon
character name
lj cut/link to the full bio/entry

Obviously that will be in entry code and I haven't coded the rest of the layout yet, I want to get the grid and topbar working but that's just a reference

So I made the layout in this journal ages ago but never really used it until now.

I've noticed that the journal names on the friends list aren't coming up. I've tried to edit .pic-poster & .ljuser but nothing seems to be fixing it.

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.... The code is here

What am I doing wrong with the layout in this journal? The header/sidebar isn't appearing. It appears on Tess's code tester though. I have a website in my profile

Where can you find homogeneous, good quality tinyicons that would actually work for IJ?

I've gone through and set "disable custom comment pages" to "No" and haven't - as far as I know - touched anything else that would relate in an obvious way to this issue. However, even with custom comment pages enabled on my journal, I'm getting "?style=mine" placed into the links for number of comments on a post. Which, yeah, works fine for me, but anyone else who views will get their own journal layout or the generic IJ post layout depending if their account is free or paid (I tested this with one of my free accounts and confirmed).

Since I know it can be stopped - this community's layout doesn't tack "?style=mine" into the comment page urls, for example - I'm hoping someone can tell me how to stop it. I initially thought it might be related to enabling the navstrip on my journal, but disabling it didn't fix the issue when testing.

So, strange question, but I've noticed in S2 Complete Style that the tag view pages - where you go when you click on a specific tag - don't get along well with symbols. For example, the header says "Posts Tagged: '%21%5Breference%5D'" when viewing the tag ![reference]. Is there a way to fix this with custom styling? And if not, can someone provide instructions for fixing it within the layers of a paid/perm account?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to keep a layout code from being applied to the fp? I like how it makes the journal look, but the fp view is unbearable to me.

I was on w3 awhile ago and discovered keyframes. In assuming I need to modify complete style's base layout I've been on the hunt for the base code so I can modify it.

Anyone know where I can find it? Once upon a time I knew the community where all the base codes were posted but for the life of me I can't remember it.

i've raked through every resource i could to try and fix the layout currently in this journal, but i'm not able to figure out how to fix the following:

• when i have a default icon set, it shows on the layout instead of being hidden
• the "previous entries" button that usually shows up at the bottom of the layout is missing
• the header that shows on the journal view does not show on the friends page view
• the "welcome to owner" link on the header is not fixed and scrolls with the entries

i'm also having an issue with this entries' html, where i am trying to move the "apply here" text lower to the gray box, but changing the line height/padding isn't working.

any help is 100% appreciated, thank you so much

I'm being dumb. Again. One day I would like to make a layout where everything goes how I want it to go the first time round.

Anyway. What I'm trying to do is set an image as the background of the custom text module. What I have is:

.module-customtext{background:url(https://i.imgur.com/LwzAi8G.jpg)no-repeat fixed;
background-size:100%;
height:300px;
width:200px;
}

I've managed to get other images to appear as the background but for some reason which is the exact size I've specified isn't appear and it's driving me insane.

Halp!

Also I'm trying to tag this post and it says I don't have permission to edit tags on the post?!

I've installed a new layout on this journal but half of the links on the entry footer aren't working. I can edit tags, tell a friend, remember and track comments but can't actually comment, read comments or edit my own entries.

I'm working on a new layout over at [info]laceandflora and I'm trying to get the navigation directly underneath the journal title. I want it up and over to the right more than it currently is.

The code I have so far is.

#nav-above {display: none;
}

#nav-below{color: #ffffff;
margin-right:300px;
display: initial;
width:100%;
}

Splash Page Question

[info]affictitious
[info]rpresources
I would like to create a splash page for an S2 Complete Style layout. At first, I thought it might be possible to do so via the Custom Text module, but after further thought, I realized that it might still impact the Day View entry (which I would prefer to link to versus the site version of the post).

So, is possible to create a splash page for an S2 layout? If so, is there a tutorial that I can read through?

It feels like the answer is a resounding "no", but it's worth asking anyway...

I have a journal title/subtitle on a journal, but I want to make the page title (what you see on the tab) different from that journal title. Is there any way to do this in S2? Specifically S2 Complete.

I know there's a global head/page title code for S1 that overrides journal titles, but I didn't know if S2 had anything similar.

Thanks in advance!

I'd like to learn how to put frames behind icons in generator layouts (like here: [info]spindle) --AND-- where I might be able to find images like said frames.

Thanks so much!

Hello! I hate to be a bother but I was wondering if anyone had created a new mock OKCupid layout? The one that I had saved (info/coding not mine, was about to edit it and...) unfortunately does not seem to work right anymore. If one is readily available, I would appreciate so much someone pointing me in the right direction. Or if anyone is able to create something, I would be eternally grateful. Thank you in advance!

Layout Help?

[info]weyer
[info]rpresources
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could kindly point me to where to find S1 generator based layouts such as this, this or this? Is there a special secret place where to get codes for these? I know ~tessisamess, ~lobelia, ~chestnutgallery but neither of them have anything similar! Please help? If these are custom made, could anyone help and send me a code?

I have two questions!

First question: Does anyone know any free programs or sites where I can make gif icons for my character journals?

Second question: I am using this layout on a different journal and I was wondering if anyone knew how to make the navigation window stay open?
