I have fruitlessly tried to figure out on my own how to create animated gif icons for IJ. I've tried adjusting the color index, removing frames, optimizing, etc. and still the file sizes are too large. I've noticed, too, while using GIMP, that a gif icon that's originally 132kb imports at closer to 550kb.
SO HERE IS MY REQUEST and also my cry for help. For all of you icon makers or those of you with experience in making animated gif icons for IJ, I would love, love, love to see a tutorial on how to do this. What are some tips and tricks? What do you do from start to finish? Are PS and GIMP the best tools for this? Would you suggest other programs/web tools? Basically, I just really want to see a tutorial that's comprehensive and allows me to use it to not only diagnose what the problem with my attempts is but also know from start to finish how to create a final product without first trying to pull my hair out. Nothing else I have googled has been tailored to IJ and the tutorials on tumblr are unhelpful as they are not limited to 100kb for the final file size.
Thanks in advance!!
