Community Rules

This comm is open to anyone to post codes, layouts, resources, tutorials, and requests for help and content. Of course, we do have some rules, so please read through them before jumping in; thank you!

■ Treat others the way you'd like to be treated. This is not a drama comm, and we expect you guys to be awesome and stay civil. If a situation gets out of hand, please contact a mod, and leave comments intact so we can accurately handle the situation.

■ Please tag your posts and check out the tagging guide if you have any questions!

■ Very long posts or posts formatted with your own div styling for organization should be behind a cut to save people's f-lists.

■ Work safe above the cut, please!

■ If posting codes, guides, etc. absolutely do not post content that you did not make. That's stealing, and it's super uncool, bro! If you are posting expanded/edited codes made by yourself using another user's coding as well, please be sure you have their permission (You do not need direct permission if they allow edits to be re-posted in their blanket rules.)
■ Do not post tutorials/links to tutorials that show people how to steal codes from other users. Again: Stealing. Not cool.
■ When asking for help with something, please check the help tags (help: coding, help: graphics, help: icons, help: layouts, help: other) first to see if your question has already been posted and answered to avoid duplicates.

■ We do not allow game ads to be posted on this comm since there are so many communities specifically for that already; if you're pimping a game as an addition to a regular post, that's fine. (OK: You post an RP code and mention in the post, oh hey, also I'm running this game! NOT OK: Posts dedicated to game promo.)

■ We do allow other types of community promos if they are related to RP (icon comms, other types of resource comms, etc.) Just shoot us a comment in our dropbox beforehand and we'll let you know if it's cool to post!

A poll: Do you use a workaround to access icons hosted on Photobucket, like one of the browser extensions or scripts?

I run a few icon listings, and as someone who doesn't use any Photobucket workarounds, I'm inclined to remove links to posts hosted on Photobucket, but I'm aware I'm a very biased sample!

I've tried a couple of extensions for Photobuckets and never found anything reliable, so after that I stopped bothering tbh. For me personally, it wasn't worth the effort of searching until I found one that worked for me, and I don't really find myself missing out. Granted, I don't need icons on a regular basis, so this might be VERY different for other people haha.

Ha, yeah, I'm definitely in the camp of not needing icons too often - or when I do, they're from newer canons beyond the age of Photobucket.

Yeah! Either what I need is readily available without watermarks and needing a Photobucket workaround, or I need so few icons that I just make them myself lmao. So just from my perspective, I'd probably prefer not having Photobucket sets listed in a directory because then I know for sure that anything I potentially click on will be something I can download without a hassle.

Technically all photobucket hosted icons still work. If you right click the picture and say open in new tab. It opens without it being watermarked and you can save it. It is a pain in the ass if you want to save a bunch but it does work if someone really wanted those specific icons.

Yep, my question wasn't how to get Photobucket hosted icons, it was do people bother getting Photobucket hosted icons with that pain in the ass.

Yeah. Was more popping that here saying that works without the script or extension as a lot of people don't know.

I sometimes like seeing the icons cause sometimes it helps find a face and you can look for icons elsewhere. But then it can also be sad seeing you have to do the pain in the ass way to get them.

On my listings I have example icons of the face/role, but this doesn't work so well for people with multiple roles in that genre.

Would a warning that it's a Photobucket post be useful with a link?

As [info]cremepuff says it technically still works but honestly as soon as I see that they're on PB I close the tab as I have no patience to individually download them one by one.

Same, but for me sometimes even individually saving will lead to a corrupt image. It's just not worth the hassle of how much effort it takes. Unless I'm desperate, I move along when I see they're on photobucket and I ended up leaving/unfollowing all the old comms that hosted on photobucket and weren't active.

I'd definitely find it useful and love to save that little bit of time knowing to only look if it's a rare enough pb to warrant the frustration of Photobucket. Especially since your listings seem to be dealing with roles that are harder to find icons for, I'd lean toward a Photobucket warning instead of removing the sets outright, though. So that's a great idea, imo!

I used to have a downloader on Chrome that I paid for, but the developer basically took everyone's money and ran - no support, it stopped working, now it's useless. I also had one that someone (I forget who) shared here, but it now downloads the watermarked versions that are very unappealing.

Sometimes, I take a full page screenshot and save it, then use Photoshop to cut out icons I really really want (for lesser known pbs with no other options, especially). But that's cumbersome and a last resort.
