Redux: an AU Harry Potter RPG

HELLO FRIENDS, it is I, Caitlin! And this is David Shafiq!

Almost none of your characters will know him to start off with, because David was kidnapped by his Death Eater father shortly after he was born and grew up in total isolation in an unplottable manor. Back in early December, his father finally passed away, the magic hiding the house collapsed, and the Ministry found twenty-year-old David. The Prophet reported on this at the time and probably occasionally brought it up (though not as front page news) in the weeks since, but David has been pretty limited to a handful of DMLE employees and some St. Mungo's staff while everyone tries to figure out what the hell to do about him.

He's a pretty nice kid, all things considered, but he has plenty of issues from how he was raised. He doesn't emote much, if at all, he doesn't know how to read body language, he doesn't know slang, and he doesn't like shoes. He has the emotional capacity of a teaspoon and basically zero coping mechanisms. He's read a lot of books (A LOT of books) and most of his understanding of humanity comes from various novels. He is going to be working at Warehouse 13 as a member of the Dark Artefacts Task Force for the ICW. Apart from that he is going to be around, meeting people, learning things, being adorable and weird and stuff!

first there is bill weasley who can be found at primus. he is the oldest (and wisest) weasley and has pretty well settled into the sage-like older brother role. he moved back to england from egypt after the whole possession debacle that happened to ginny and he works as an unspeakable for the ministry. you can read more about him here! but basically he is a steady calm dude who is a good listener, so anyone needing sounding board... bill can be your dude.

then this lovely lady is phillipa flint! she works part-time for witch weekly and lives in diagon alley. she's a slytherin from the class of '94 and spent several years in paris studying after she left hogwarts. more notably? she is about to open a burlesque/brothel in knockturn alley - not that anyone knows about it, or that she's in any way affiliated, but advertisements will be showing up~ soon. you can read about her here!

Hello lovelies! I have a huge favor to ask of everyone in game. I know I've been very slow and inactive, but I've been working on this project, and now that part of it is done, I should be able to jump back into the game. Also, the game moves soooo fast! Which is a good thing.

So anyway, I'm a big nerd and I'm currently working on a paper presentation on RPGs for a pop-culture conference in March, and I'm specifically looking at blog-based RPGs! So I've designed an anonymous survey to help with my research. There are some demographic questions (and I'm 90% sure you can skip questions that you prefer not to answer), but mostly it's RP related questions (those are the most important questions).

Also, if you are in any other games or know people in any other games (regardless of the fandom), please pass this on! I'll be hunting down mods from other games, putting this on my cdj that I never use, and sending this to people I've played with previously. The point is, I want all the responses!

Hi all! This is Heather here, the loonie behind Eddie, Iona, Vicky and Aurora. If you're new and you don't know these guys, I'm still up for chat!

This gal, though, is Anais Bolduc. She's 23, year above the trio, and is a Chaser for the Arrows. She's been in the UK since she was 20, a starting Chaser since then, and played for Canada at the last World Cup. She is Quebecoise, a native French speaker, and very proud of it - though she attended Beauxbatons as her parents both got jobs at the French Ministry (her father works between Ottawa and Paris as a cultural attaché to the Ministries).

If she'd been to Hogwarts, she would have been a Gryffindor and could easily pass for a Weasley. She's vibrant, energetic, and passionate about what she does and is interested in.

She has no connections in game yet, but one notable incoming (hopefully). Her fiancé is also her manager - they've worked together three years, been together for two and engaged for one, with their wedding due to happen this year. He also happens to be 10 (ish) years older than her, so there was naturally a bit of gossip when that went public.

Hello hello all you dreamboats and petticoats.

The game is going super fast tonight but Ashleigh is not a patient person and is not willing to wait. Erin is an enabling temptress, so you can blame her for me (Kaylie) picking up my fourth character all of four weeks into the game.

This is Ashleigh Spinnet, middle Spinnet sibling, older than Alicia and younger than Asher. She was in Ravenclaw with Iona and Aisling and she is not exactly the most pleasant person. Here are just some of the reasons your characters might not like her:

Arrogant, controlling, bossy, doesn't know the meaning of the word fun, rejects people who hit on her, generally finds people stupid and/or messy and not worth bothering with.

She works at the Ministry, which she hates but is very good at. She's a supervisor so if anyone wants to be her underling she'd be a total task-master. She dances (ballet, theatre, swing), attends high-brow cultural events (opera, ballet, theatre, concerts) and does interior design but that last bit is a secret.

I am open to all the backstory and futurestory! Particularly, I would love a couple of awkward dates for Ashleigh to have gone on in her 5th year. A couple of guys and maybe one girl? She's heterosexual but she tried girls out to make sure. These dates would have ended either with Ashleigh leaving, declaring your character too boring or stupid or else with her refusing physical advances such as kissing.

She's going to be a HOOT.

ETA: I am stupid and forgot that Ashleigh was prefect and head girl!

Muggleborn from a very posh family (the Astors), like so posh she has more money than Zac and Zac is really sad about this.

Ravenclaw in Charlie's year (to join Iona, Ashleigh and Briana in that year's dorms in Raveclaw ;) ).

Has played the violin in Quake for the past two years, before that she was the No.2 1st violin for the Philharmonia Orchestra, so like, she plays the violin really well. She also is a little bit in love with her violin.

Can come across as rather cold because she's been raised that way. She isn't actually a bitch, just really posh :/

Is like the most unlikely rockstar ever and doesn't really know what to do with that lifestyle (she's literally too posh to be a rockstar). But she does love music, like a lot.
