The 37 Days of Gusmas are over! |
[Jan. 2nd, 2010|05:19 pm] |
Well, the 37 Days of Gusmas Drabble Celebration has come to an end, and what a party it was! There were literally hundreds of drabbles written, which is great, since each one adds up to a dollar donation to the Ali Forney Center for LGBT homeless youth. Thanks to everyone who participated!
'm going to be tallying up the entries and figuring out the prizes and winners over the next few days. Please, if you're at all unsure if you tagged your drabble(s) with the "Gusmas" tag, go back and do it now! It's the tag I'll be using to count them!
In the meantime, this asylum will be doing an "Author's Choice" drabble prompt until the regular schedule resumes this coming Wednesday.
That means you can write your drabbles about any earlier prompt, or really, anything at all as long as it's within the regular guidelines of the asylum. You can award your condoms to any character, as well.
So have fun, and again, thank you for playing, and Happy Gusmas to you all! |

Title: Rage the Kitten Grows Up, Parts 29-54 Author: Rebel Prompts: Christmas Eve, Christmas night, Kwanzaa, Bells, Image of hands reaching towards stars, Silent night, Should auld acquaintance be forgot?, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day Note: This is the final installment of this story. I wanted to finish it in exactly 37 drabbles but xie_xie_xie (not her real name) said now that I'm in heaven, rules don't apply to me, so I added more at the end until it was done, all with the prompt "New Year's Day." I hope you have liked this story about Rage the kitten and Justin and Brian and the snow, even if I did have Justin get hit by a car. Happy New Year!

Title: Justin Gets SMART Author: wavingcat5 Prompts: New Year's Day ; New Year's Eve; Silent Night Notes: Pre-season 1. 5 drabbles. No beta, like all of them I've done so far - no time as the challenge is nearly over! It has been so much fun to be a part of this, both reading and writing. Thankyou so much to Xie and the others who made it happen, the other writers for that great feeling of having someone to play with, and those who read and encouraged me, a total fandom virgin. May this be your best year yet! Mwah, mwah, mwah ^__^~

Title: I Will Be With You Again Author: vl_redreign Prompt: New Year’s Day
Notes: Well, this is the end…for now. 131 drabbles for the challenge. And honestly? I can’t remember having so much fun writing. I didn’t think about any kind of cohesive storyline, just little snippets to fit a prompt. Then, as stories do, it took on a life of its own.
Thanks to everyone that came along for the ride, I hope it was comfy. Special thanks to xie_xie_xie for hosting this challenge, and for her help last night when I thought I was being cheesy. Not showing her these in advance, cause I think they really are cheesy. Lol The really cool thing about these drabbles is that I somehow managed to create a ‘verse that I’d like to revisit sometime in the future. See you guys then!

Title: Departures And Arrivals Author: vl_redreign Prompt: Should auld acquaintance be forgot?
Notes: Well, we're getting towards the end of this thing. I want to thank everyone that's commented on these bits of my brain over the last month. This has been so much fun, and a mini challenge for me to see if I could do this every day. I'm as shocked as you guys are, believe me! So, here we go, 4 for tonight. Hope these fit the prompt. I was thinking along the lines of not so much old acqaintances as people that come and go in the lives of our friends in the Pitts.

Title: Visitation Author: vl_redreign Prompt: Solstice
Notes: Only one tonight, I'm afraid. Long ago, it was decided by my fellow bitchesofbritin that South was my corner to call. I'm a Fire element, according to them. callie89 made this icon for me, I thought I'd use it tonight.
The night was cold and clear, the snowstorm having moved north.
On Liberty Avenue, lights glowed from businesses, and people walked slowly, almost contemplatively. Greetings and holiday wishes were shouted back and forth.
Brian and Justin shared dinner and quips with Jennifer and Molly.
Ted and Blake were sitting together, listening to Verdi.
In Toronto, Gus was sneaking most of his underwear back out of his bag.
When he fell asleep, Lindsay put them back.
Ben explained various Solstice traditions to Michael and Hunter.
Debbie and Emmett shared ice cream and watched old movies.
Vic smiled down upon them all. |

Title: A Simple Wish AuthorL vl_redreign Prompt: White taper candles image
Notes: Posting this early, in case I think of something else. Or not.
The note was simple:
Meet me at Ruth’s Chris Steak House, 7pm.
All Emmett knew was that it had the best Zagat ratings in town, and that he should dress a little less…Emmett-like. He didn’t usually do blind dates, but something about this sounded…familiar.
He arrived and was escorted to a table in the private dining section. He was thankful for this, as the restaurant was quite busy. The table boasted a tasteful centerpiece, three white taper candles burning brightly.
“Thanks for meeting me,” a voice came from behind him. Emmett turned, surprised.
“Drew.”
“Wanna help me celebrate my twenty-first?” |

Title: It's Time For Chanukah! Author: vl_redreign Prompt: Hannukkah
Notes: I changes the spelling to the Romanized version for this. Blame firehead30 and Adam Sandler.
Gus loved the holidays. First, there was Chanukah. Mama would light the menorah and pray in Hebrew. He could recite the first prayer, and Mama and Mommy smiled when he got it right.
Uncle Michael and Uncle Ben were here this year, but Hunter couldn’t come. Something called ‘finals’. They didn’t sound like fun. They bought gifts for him and JR, and even Gramma Debbie had sent something. Lemon bars. They didn’t have those in Canada.
The best part, though, was when he and Uncle Michael watched Adam Sandler sing The Chanukah Song.
“Put on your yarmulke Here comes Chanukah…” |
