Title: The Muse, She Strikes Author: vl_redreign Prompt: Frost
Notes: Only one tonight, guys. Auntie Red is tired.
“So, did you and Daphne have a good time?” Brian asked.
“Yeah. We pigged out on room service-“
“Did you max out the doctor’s credit card, too?”
“Are you ever gonna let that go?” Justin complained.
“Hmmm, let me see…that would be a no.”
“Fuck you.”
“Anytime.”
Justin sighed, his breath fogging the window.
“Now, Sunshine, none of that. You’ll be on your back with your legs in the air in no time. Are you ready for your show?”
“I guess. I have one piece that…” He trailed off, staring at the frost pattern on the window. “I gotta go.” |

They made love and were cuddling (though Brian would never admit to either) in front of the fireplace before another word was spoken.
“Sunshine, before that enthusiastic welcome I believe I asked you a question.”
“I missed you.”
“I saw you less than 24 hours ago.”
“That does not negate the fact that I missed you.”
Brian looked dubious but soldiered on. “Okay. What about the fact that you have a show in a few weeks?”
Justin wiggled an arm out of the blankets to gesture at the easel in the corner. “I couldn't paint without my muse.”

Title: Firebug Author: wavingcat5 Prompt: Fireplace Note: Coming into bushfire season here. This is not intended to trivialise those who lost their homes and lives last summer; rather, those events keep creeping into my thoughts, however indirectly.
‘Shoe brush’ says Brian, glancing at my latest thrift store find. ‘Fire brigade-issue. That’s what the F and B stand for.’ ‘Thanks. I never would have guessed that on my own.’ We kiss. Life is sweet now, thanks to Brian Kinney. Who’d have thought?
I notice the initials on the brush aren’t stamped. They’re burnt into the wood. It’s a paradox. Fire department marks its property with fire?
I walk in later to find him fucking some guy and I’m scorched.
I’ve heard sometimes a firefighter is also a firebug.
When I come back, Brian is polishing my shoes. |

Title/Series: Surprise! (A Thanksgiving Visit, part IX) Author: BookGirl Prompt: Wrapped Gifts and Credit Cards image
Justin was able to sweet talk the desk clerk into letting him into Brian's suite without much fuss. She thought it was “soooo romantic.” Justin stashed the small wrapped gift in an empty drawer and considered going out to look for Brian. But instead he set his easel in front of the windows and watched the kids sliding down the bunny slopes. He was so focused on capturing the reflection of the setting sun on the snow, that he almost didn't hear the door open. Brian looked shocked for a moment, but quickly gathered himself and raised an eyebrow “What the hell are you doing here?” "Surprise." |

Ted closed the door to his office. He stared at the spreadsheet again, crossed his fingers, and entered the last figures. He clicked ‘submit’, then refreshed the report. His phone rang before it finished.
“Ted Schmidt.”
“Teddy?”
“Oh, hi, Em.”
“Sweetie, you sound stressed.”
“I’m working on the final quarter figures.”
“Oh. That sounds like fun.”
“Oh, yeah. You wanna come over and tell Brian that revenue is down 30 percent?”
“Well, I’ll leave you to it, bye!”
“Wait! Holy shit…”
“What?”
“It’s up. Thirty percent.”
“That’s good, right?”

Title: Safe Author:wavingcat5 Prompt: Joy to the world
Now I let Brian see me scared. To tell you the truth it brings out the best in him. I’ve never seen him so natural as when he’s protecting me, helping me recover, and making me believe I can.
He still clowns his way out of affection. ‘You know how much I love sex in public places’.
The last four words roll off his tongue too easily, too strategically. I think of the first six and the way he kissed me before he said them. They make me feel safe. The world is carrying me and I float on home. |

Title/Series: 'Tis the Season (A Thanksgiving Visit part VII) Author: BookGirl Prompt: 'Tis the season Note: Brian and Justin refused to work with me tonight. Brian kept going OOC and Justin was all whiny. I got this one little drabble out of them and then sent them off to bed without supper.
'Tis the season for drama, Justin thought with a sigh. He stared at Brian still staring off into the dark night. He yawned and padded quietly over to him. Justin placed a gentle hand on his shoulder and squeezed. Brian was like a scared animal when he was like this. One wrong move and he could go feral for days--drinking, tricking, and tripping out without coming up for air. That's not what Justin wanted with the two days he had left. Hand seemingly safe, he rested his chin on Brian's shoulder. “It's not that I don't want to.” He whispered. Brian just nodded. “I know.” |

Title: Clemency Author: vl_redreign Prompt: Tis The Season
Ted stepped into Cynthia’s office and closed the door.
“Okay, what?”
“I just…huh?”
“You look…scared.”
“I am. And you should be, too.”
“I’ll bite. Why?”
“Brian called, he’s on his way…from the airport.”
“So…oh.”
“Yeah. I’m going to warn the art department.”
“Good idea.” She grabbed her coat.
“Where are you going? “
“To purchase a stay of execution.”
Brian slammed the door to his office, tossed his coat on the sofa, then yanked the door open again to yell at…someone. He was greeted by Cynthia, holding a grande quadruple shot mocha. The cup read, ’Tis the season’.
“Thanks, Cynthia.” |

Title: Oh, Sonnyboy Author: vl_redreign Prompt: Ski Jump Image
Notes: This drabble got knocked up (Brian did it!) and refused to be contained in 100 words. So it's a double, but only part 2 counts. Thanks to xie_xie_xie for the beta, and for this wonderful drabble challenge. I can't remember the last time I looked forward to writing something. *hugs*

Brian watched as Gus latched onto Justin like a spider monkey. He was going to miss him.
Both of them, actually.
Justin moved on to Melanie and Lindsay, and Gus came to him. Brian picked him up, mindful that in another year or so, Gus would run before allowing himself to be held like a baby. Brian held him tight and inhaled his special little boy smell.
“Dad, why are you sniffing me?”
“I wasn’t sniffing you, I was inhaling so that I could do this,” he said, blowing a raspberry against Gus’s neck, sending his son into hysterical giggles.
II
“Dad, I know what I want for Christmas.”
“Let’s see…a pony? No wait, a really cool car like mine.”
“No! Wait, I can have a pony?”
Brian could hear Justin chuckling close by.
“I was just kidding. So, what would you like?”
“My friend Charlie’s dad took him and his brother skiing for Thanksgiving. Can we go skiing?”
“Well, that would depend on your moms.”
“Can you ask them? Please, Dad??”
“But what if your Mama beats me up?”
“She’s just kidding when she says that.”
Now Justin was laughing hard.
“I’ll see what I can do, okay?”
“Thanks, Dad!” |

“What the hell is that?” Brian turned away from his computer screen to see Justin roll out of bed and walk down the stairs. “Ah Sunshine, you've emerged from your cyber shopping trip. Get any bargains? A bubble-butted nutcracker perhaps.” “Whatever. Someday people will tire of your extravagant gift cards to high-end boutiques and then you'll need me.” “Keep dreaming, Sonny Boy.” Justin looked back at the screen. “I ask again, what is that horrid picture?” “This is Seven Spring's latest ad campaign. At least they realize they need me.” “What is he wearing? Are they trying to repel skiers?”

Title: Hungry! Author: Rebel Prompt: Stuffed
"I'm hungry." Justin's stomach rumbled to underscore his point.
Brian grunted without opening his eyes. "You know where the kitchen is."
Justin rolled over and poked Brian's shoulder. "And what will I find there?"
Brian pulled a pillow over his face.
Justin laughed and got up. As he entered the kitchen, Rage meowed from the counter.
"I know. Yesterday we stuffed ourselves sick at Deb's, stuffed you on leftovers, and today it's…" he opened the refrigerator… "fat-free cream cheese and lettuce."
"Meeeeeewwwwww," said Rage, piteously.
Justin ran his hand down his cat's sleek back, and picked up his car keys.Continued here... |

Title: First snow Author: Xie Prompt: First snow
Justin felt Brian lying against his back. There was just enough light that he could see snow falling outside their bedroom window, sugaring down onto the bare branches of the trees.
"The first snow," he murmured to Brian, then drifted back to sleep.
Then he woke up. He lay there for a long time, his eyes closed, but the dream was gone.
The floor felt cold as he walked to the window. There was a tree between his apartment building and the one next door; its leafless branches traced dark lines against the other building's brick wall.
It wasn't snowing. |

Brian woke up to the sound of typing. A one-eyed squint revealed a naked blond snuggling with his laptop. “What in the hell are you doing?” He asked roughly, “It's 4 AM.” “It's Cyber Monday!” Justin whispered excitedly. Brian furrowed his brow, or at least tried to. It was a little early for facial expressions. “Unless that has something to do with porn, you and the laptop need to get out of my bed.” “You always say Christmas is really all about commercialism, I'm just trying to prove you right.” “Well Bah Humbug, then.” Brian muttered, slapping the laptop closed and diving on Justin. |

Lindsay stood at the backdoor and stripped each child, wrapping them in terry robes and leading them to the kitchen table, where hot chocolate awaited.
Marie entered, carrying her youngest, followed by Mel.
“I’m so glad you guys are here,” she said. “Dusty loved the holidays.”
“Do you remember that year when she and I were insane enough to do the Black Friday sales?”
Marie laughed. “That was a nightmare!”
“I told her she was nuts to go,” Mel added.
“I miss her still,” Linds said softly.
“Well, she’d want us to enjoy ourselves. No ‘bah humbugs’ in this house.” |
