This Monday Amarie wasn't working and had been expecting a boring day on her own in the apartment. Luckily Deacon had needed to do some work so, instead, she was up on the penthouse level - hee - lolling on the couch helping Nia dress a dolly while the Care Bears did their thing in the background.

Naturally her Wyrm was close to hand and she was working her way through the emails picking out the more interesting ones and occasionally writing a reply. She was close to the end of the list when she opened another and read the boring looking text and let out a shriek that had Nia staring at her and beginning to cry.

New tenants were often demanding, but some were more demanding than others. In this case instructions had come down from the TA office that apartment 348 needed a full refurb.

Full as in right 'back to the fabric of the building then repaper, repaint, recarpet, re-everything'. Including detailed specifications for the kitchen and bathroom - hell, the new people were even bringing their own doorknobs!

Still it wasn't Nick's job to wonder so he had been in and out of the apartment all day and was on his last load of carpet before stripping the paper of the walls in the bedrooms.

Door open, he sang quietly to himself as he used a box cutter to hack the carpet into pieces sizeable enough, he hoped, for him and Jack to sell profitably later. Old habits died hard - also it was fun.

The Mocha, Monday evening, Lucas OTA

That Brandon was a softie in the end, no matter how tough a nazi she was in the kitchen. She had insisted on Lucas taking at least one more day off before coming back to work after the, um, incident and the move to the Manor. Lucas didn't really mind, that gave him a full day to get to explore his new home. Even if it felt nothing like a home. It was huge and classy and downright elitistic. And what was with all the security, not to mention the ball rooms and gyms and libraries and swimming pools? Sheesh!

Having spent the afternoon wandering about the Manor and washing the smell of smoke out of the rest of his clothes, Lucas finally decided to check out the coffee house. He came in in his t-shirt so that his old-school tattoo-sleeves were showing, his dark hair messy and in his worn black jeans and Converse sneakers. He tucked his wallet - that had the Misfits logo on it and was attached with a chain to a belt loop on his jeans - out of his back pocket and joined the queue.
