It's finally time for the first day of the festival! The setup is the same as the previous two years, just with a red and orange color scheme. There's a big stage set up in the baseball field, lots of room to hang around, booths around the perimeter with food and merchandise, security patrolling, and music-lovers loving music.

The schedule for the day:
4pm - 5pm - First band setup & overall soundcheck
6pm - Cherry Flavored Pez
7pm - Stage Change
7:30pm - No Idea
9:20 - Stage Change
9:45pm - Rocky Rhodes

((OOC - I'll be trying to put these up right after midnight so that the earlier time zone people can hit them if they want! General party post rules apply! Have at it!))

The chairs were set out, likewise the tables for those who would lunch, the charity stalls were set up and the volunteers were eager to get working.

Behind the scenes, the artists adjusted their costumes and microphones and gave each other tense anticipatory smiles.

All anyone needed now was an audience.

Summary

[info]essayel
[info]morningstar_mnr
Folks, it's time to call a halt to the summaries.

I started writing the summaries in August 2005 so people who didn't have time to check the comm, which was then very large and busy, could keep up with the plots. When it got too big, Kel and Maru started to help, then we developed a summarising team to do it. Many thanks to Sam, Kris and Ceil for all their efforts over the past year but I think we can all agree that it's a thankless and pointless task.

It was worth doing when a] the comm was very busy, b] everyone was interested in everyone elses stories and c] people read the summaries to keep up. I don't now believe that in the majority of cases, any of those things apply any more. So we're going to try something a bit different.

Twice a week I'll make a 'Pimp Your Own Threads' post. If in the past few days you have taken part in a thread that is especially plotty, or you really enjoyed, or of which you're particularly proud, please comment to these posts.

It seems fitting that this should happen when there is SO much plot about and, let's face it, nobody spots plot better than the people responsible for it.

I've summarised up to Thursday 4th September, and we can start the pimp threads with the concerts.

So last summary ever! )

Phone call to Emma

Sadie swung on the chair by the desk and made a face at the window. The gallery customers had all either darted outside or were standing by the window watching the woman on the stage singing.

Sadie couldn't see the attraction. She'd never heard of her - Keira O'Dwyer. What kind of name was that? Sounded Scottish or something.

She sighed and flipped open the desk phone book and flicked through the pages then smiled and dialled.

Mailroom and after, Emily and Vincenzo

Accepting deliveries was part of the job at the desk and, once the tenant had been informed of the arrival of the package, sometimes the maintenance or security personnel would deliver it as well.

Today Mrs Eddings had received a large box containing something heavy that clinked. A case of claret, she said, so Vincenzo had agreed to carry it upstairs for her. Job done, he was in the mailroom, telling Jerry the clerk about the bottle lined walls of the old lady's smallest bedroom.

"And she looks such a mild old girl," he said. "Milk and water. Not Chateau Lafitte Rothschild 1992 or whatever it was."
