Hellraiser Game Anyone?

I had an idea for an OC and Cannon game in the Hellraiser universe. It's just an idea and I'd need significant help fleshing out the details, but I'm just putting it out there to see if anyone else might be interested. I'm a die hard fan of the films and the original novella they are based on and have vast knowledge of the characters and other things associated with it. Drop a line if interested or write me at fullmoon71383@yahoo.com. Later.

Activity check questions?

I've finally figured out a system that I'm comfortable with. I'm trying to be lax about activity checks, well, as lax as I can without there be no rules at all.

The system is basically this: you just have to update once a month and it actually has to be a scene, since we don't use any kind of journaling system in game. Update once a month and I run the check on the last Sunday of the month. All of those people who haven't updated by then, I send an e-mail to saying that have one week to update their character before they're removed from the game and that's that.

I think one month to update is more than fair, yet there are people who are dragging their feet and not. I'm getting antsy and I feel like I want to warn all those people who still haven't updated their characters yet. Should I? Should I even bother? Should I just wait until I run the check?

Help me ~modcooperative, you're my only hope!

Non-Panfandom Silent Hill Game

Would anyone be interested in starting a game set in Silent Hill that would include both Cannon and Original Characters? I know that there are Silent Hill games out there but I really don't care for Panfandom games, they tend to be too confusing and too huge. Leave a comment if your interested or write me at fullmoon71383@yahoo.com. Thanks.

I'm not sure if this is allowed here.

I haven't really been in any Harry Potter games in a long time but I want to join one or create one -- preferably next-generation. I've been searching endlessly for a game I like but haven't come across one. Any suggestions? Or would anyone be interested in a [info]sevenyears or [info]spliffy like community PSL? I really miss both those communities! Anyways, it would be a group PSL and probably closed off after a certain amount of players/characters. So would anyone be interested and would anyone want to co-mod? I would want a co-mod with experience, btw! c:

I posted once before, but decided to drop the idea to focus on other things. Now however, I have a new one, and plenty of time to mod! This is a Buffy game, that would be AU in that the entire cast of Buffy would be human. Would there be any interest in this?

Here is a rough premise:
There is nothing supernatural in the town of Sunnydale. Buffy is not a Vampire Slayer, Dawn is not a mystical key, Giles is not a watcher. In this setting, the entire cast is human. Instead of vampires, gangs roam the streets of Sunnydale. It has become the neutral setting for two groups known as Those In Power, and The Resistance. After the death of her lover, a detective who goes by the name of Angel, Buffy and her friends become Sunnydale’s soul protector.

oh oh oh, its magic.

Question: would you join a game that was centered around an elemental academy? I ask because I'm not sure what the interest level would be and games like that usually are a lot of work. The basic premise is here although it' subject to be re-written. From that, what would you expect/want to be in the game?

LXG? (Kind of Pan-Fandom with a twist?)

would anyone be interested in a game based similar to the world of LXG? though, based on television and film instead of literary works, only (most of the good ones do cross over and such) -- it would be something like a pan-fandom game... but not.. really.

i would either like to A) do a classic lxg-esque game (a team of maybe six, a head of the team who isn't involved, and maybe some villains)

or B), some kind of training facility, taking these extraordinary characters from tv & film? maybe with older tv/movie influences as the "instructors", with newer tv/film characters being trained. no idea who the older ones would be, maybe Samantha Stephens from Bewitched? ... if you have some ideas, circa 1900s-late 1960s, let me know. :)

THOUGHTS though!?

Hi there! So I realize that there are probably way to many Harry Potter games but I wanted to run this by people because I think it'd be a really neat idea.

I'd like to begin a canon-compliant game that takes place in 2005, around ten years after the War. It's a game that has a base at Hogwarts, but also has room to grow with Ministry workers and other Wizarding communities. The catch is, however, that due to a recent uprising from other magical creatures, the wizards have been exposed to the muggle communities. I think this would create for a wide range of characters, and other creatures, and also put a fresh spin on a much explored topic.

This is really just me putting feelers out there, because I don't want to go to all the effort if there's little or no interest. How do you guys feel about Harry Potter games? Are they over and done and out of vogue, nothing could get you to play at one? Do they all need to be cross-over sorts/have some unique twist, take, or gimmick; or would it be refreshing to find a game that was just a simple canon based homage to one of the books? A friend and I are considering creating something for the latter half of Deathly Hallows; picking up around Christmas and playing through the final battle. There wouldn't be any sort of linked journals (since they're not in the books!), it would just be playing out the stories of characters who weren't the Trio.

Just curious, what are people's stances on anonymous rps and non-anonymous rps?

So I got the sudden impulse to make a game, and I was thinking of making a university for magical students. This would be a HP Next-Gen game. Students from all over the world would attend. There aren't really a lot of details, but I would like to know if anyone would be interested in it.

Immediate help would be nice!

I have modded several games throughout my RPing "career," and I've come across my first real issue...

A player who is joining the game was poking around on the holds page, looking at people's CDJ's, just getting curious about the type of people she might be playing with when she stumbled upon it. What is it, you say? Well, she found a saved application in the journal, and in that application was a 5 paragraph long personality that was completely plagiarized from one of her own applications.

The game that his application was from has long since been dead, and this application/personality is not in use at the moment. In fact, it just sort of sitting in her CDJ gathering dust, but still-- it's plagiarized material.

The problem is that the owner of the CDJ was holding her third character, after already having two within the game. None of the stuff that she used to get into the game was plagiarized from what I can tell, and her writing samples are just as good as her normal writing so I have no reason to be suspicious.

I know both players. The victim here is saying that she does not want the other player kicked out, which is fine by me, but...

That leaves the question: What should I do?

Help? Please?

So I was wondering... A friend and I have been working on getting together an RP over on lj based around Bioshock. Pre-fall Rapture setting, multi-fandom, etc. We've worked out most of the finer details and are at the stage of getting everything set up to open some time in the next few months, but we've hit somewhat of a block on the way. Not in the planning or design or plot ideas. Simply put, would anyone be interested in playing in that sort of game? We figure people that have played the games might app in, but what about people that haven't? Any sort of advice or input would be greatly appreciated!

IJ or LJ?

Hi! Sorry to bother you guys but I was thinking of trying to make my first RPG. I have made an account on Livejournal for it but I'm not too sure whether I should be using Insanejournal instead. Insanejournal appears to be much more rpg orientated and would it, therefore, ultimately be better for the game if I switched?

Also, is it inappropriate for me to put ads for a Livejournal rpg in Insanejournal and vice versa?

Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Jesse Turner was an average eight years old boy. Well, except, you know, the technical bit where he's the son of perdition, the Antichrist, the bringer of the end. But see here, the thing of it was, he didn't want the world to end. In fact, he doth firmly protest against the apocalypse, the cataclysm, the ekpyrosis, the great big armageddon, or whatever it was called in your corner of the world. So, you know, being your typical half-human half-demon entity of unfathomable power, he decided at a pivotal moment in the final battle between Heaven and Hell that he had had enough. He just wanted things to go back to a simpler time, when the proverbial crap hadn't hit the fan.

...All the way back to the ages when princesses needed rescuing, damsels needed saving, dragons needed slaying and witches needed burning.

This would be a Supernatural group PSL, pulling in a mishmash of elements from medieval, the old west and whatever else little boys like to pretend play. Both canon and original characters would definitively be welcome, but in the case of the former, they would have to be reconstituted to fit Jesse's imaginary world.

Tell us what you want! Premades, yes or no? Mishmash of settings or stick to one (e.g. strictly medieval or strictly wild west, whatever)? Y/N to angels and demons? Something else you had in mind? We could also use one or two additional co-administrators to bounce ideas off of. :D

Never posted here before, but before I go crazy and start making this game, I'd like to see if there is any interest out there at all.

Basically, it would be something like a corporation investigating certain supernatural/mythical occurrences, mostly in the past, but as of now it's focusing most of its energy on the countdown to the end of the world. However, some of the ways the bosses seem to be going about things have left some employees questioning whether or not this organization is trying to bring the apocalypse or prevent it. Needless to say, there will be a vast amount of characters, some evil and actively seeking to destroy the world, some wanting to save it, some just doing their job, some clueless. Ad of course, given the fact that it investigates supernatural phenomena, they do employ supernatural beings. Nothing too excessive, there won't be any gods or anything to that end. But vampires, werewolves and the like. Possibly angels and demons, I haven't decided.

I guess I should also note that I'm aware that the idea isn't extremely original, but I think it could be a lot of fun and has room to get dark and serious when it needs to.

Game v Group PSL

I have an honest question. What is the difference between a "regular" game and a "group PSL"? I see no difference if you consider the fact that these "PSLs" are advertising as if they were a normal game. Is this something that people are flocking to in order to keep themselves from worrying about the dreaded six-month-mark-of-death? I mean, I know of games that are currently past that and yet no one is interested because they're not marketing as a PSL.

Also, I'm currently in a game (over a year old) that is one of the ones who isn't seeing any new blood as it isn't being marketed as a PSL. Are there any specific changes that could be made to improve either my recruitment practices? Or would making the game a PSL simply be better off in the long run? We have a very small group of very devoted players who are going to stick it out no matter what we do, but we need more people as there are many holes to fill. Suggestions on that?

Any input is appreciated.

Coding question

Hopefully this is the right place to post this question?

I think I've seen it before... where when you click the "friend all" button, it also automatically locks/privates the journal so that every post it makes is friends only?

Or am I just imagining it...? (Which is entirely possible.)

Also, is it possible to set posts in a community to automatically be friends only?

Getting the game moving again

So I have a game that's been up since late June. It has been fairly active up until a few weeks ago. A few members dropped due to time constraints, and the current members all seem to be busy with life and school and the likes. (And I am as well, so I understand the feeling.)

And so the game has come to a stall. Nobody is doing much, but when asked, many members say they're still interested. Just... either they don't have the time or they've already exhausted the list of things they could do. And for some reason, applications have come to a stall as well.

I was wondering if you guys had any ideas for getting the game moving again. We've tried pushing a mod-plot, sending out some rumors... it hasn't worked thus far. Anyone have any ways of getting players motivated to pay again?

I'd like to create a new original game, but...

My ideas are currently only very general, and I don't like one any more than another right now. As much as I'd like to do everything, I'm really only looking to start one of these. I'd like to go with something that might appeal to a wider audience, but at the same time, I don't want to do something the market's saturated with, so I'd like to have some feedback on these ideas.

Would you be interested in one (and if several, which would you most like)? Do you think something's too overdone (or done often, but still a good idea)? Have any ideas about plot/direction to throw in? Hit me with any thoughts you might have.

A Few General Notes:
  • The RP will have an original plot and allow OCs only.
  • It won't be PB. Pictures are cool with me, but they won't be required.
  • Character journals will not be required, but if you want them, that's perfectly fine.
  • I'd prefer to run it over LJ, but IJ's fine too, so let me know if you have an opinion there.
  • I've been going over help and tutorial comms (this'll be my first big journal community endeavor, though I've run many elsewhere), but any tips you might have would still be appreciated.

You could also look at my general interest list here and see if anything pops out at you as interesting, because I'm totally open to other suggestions. Sorry for the TL;DR. > w>;;
