mods? creative souls?

I posted this concept as an interest check on rpg-d, and got some great feedback, and I'm hoping to find abled beings who would like to help shape a rather extensive, magical world into game fruition once again.

I did this game is 2008 called Augury. It was about magical families coming together, with each family holding it's own head of house that was based on a magical school from Dungeons & Dragons. The journal was deleted, sadly. However, in 2008 my eighteen-year-old self posted an ad with the entire plot on ~wanna_rp, and for kicks, you can view it here.

In 2016 I'd like to reattempt said game, but give it a more Game of Thrones, political vibe, filled with witch hunters and backstabbers with some juicy character development. If you'd like, you can view my interest check here.

I'm looking for creative souls in hashing out surnames, family backgrounds for the houses, city locations, etc. I'm alone on this one, and I really need some brainstorming to really get the creative flowing. I'm also considering hosting the renewed game on jcink, versus journaling, and am hoping to find someone who is a chameleon in roleplaying platforms.

Seeking advice

So I have a small gpsl with a niche interest (would rather not go further into detail on what it is). Long story short, there's a particular player with said niche interest who ragequit the game a while back. However, they are trying to come back, again and again, with new characters. To the point of asking for lines against players that they have antagonized and hurt in the past while pretending to be a completely different player, or at least not disclosing that they are the player from before.

I don't know what to do. We basically allow everyone in who applies. I can't think of a good reason to refuse them membership.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to handle this issue?

I am looking for someone to bounce ideas off of about a Cthulhu Mythos/cosmic horror game - I keep getting lost in my ideas and need someone to kind of help sort out some kinks. (My original idea was for a panfandom boarding school game and I keep trying to go back to that but I'm not sure how.) Any up for plotting or just unraveling an idea?

(Also potentially looking for a co-mod? If it turns out to be a functional idea.)

Non-Supernatural Themed Games

I made this game because I couldn't find anything like it out there - something with no magic, no werewolves or vampires or zombies, something that isn't post-apocalyptic or set in a world other than our own...

I guess the question now is, where do I find players? I mean obviously, advertising in all the usual places is a good first step. But on places like rp_vents, people are always saying about how they want threads, and well written characters, and comms that aren't just lyrics posts... I guess I wanna know where they hang out.

...also any tips about moderating that people wanna give me, would be greatly appreciated... I mean I've played in enough games that I have a rough idea how to go about it (including one game that taught me how NOT to mod, haha) but I'm not silly enough to think I know it all.

Advertising/Recruiting

My co-mod and I are ready to bring in some new blood, so to speak, over at [info]havenwood. We also like to try and split up the work between us as evenly as possible so we're thinking a schedule is the way to go for us. But, we also want to reach as many people as possible in terms of time (if that makes sense?). We're a panfandom game that caters heavily to OCs with an original concept and a supernatural/paranormal theme/setting. Our players come from a variety of TZs in the US (Eastern, Central, & Pacific) and while we're fairly sure of where to advertise, we're not so positive of when the best time to advertise is. We'd really appreciate some advice on this aspect of recruiting so any and all suggestions thrown our way would be taken under advisement.

I'm trying to start a game based in the Hunger Games universe, and I'm looking for help. I have a lot of the foundation set, so what I'm looking for help with most is:

- New ideas / someone to bounce ideas off of.
- Day to day modding stuff and helping with big plots, like the next round of the Hunger Games.
- Someone to help me find players! This is the biggest one. I don't really know very many people and you can't really have a game without players.

If anyone is interested, please have a look at what I've got on this journal so far and get in touch with me here or on the drop box! (And if you're just interested in playing but not the modding so much, holds are now open, wink wink nudge nudge.)

Okay so I have gone with trying to start up the gpsl again.

I'm actually fairly new to this kind of thing, so I do have a few questions.

Can anyone help me find the html (or whatever is needed) to create a friends button? Is it at ~rp_tutorials or somewhere else?

I want to use a layout from ~coding, but I have no idea where to actually go to put it. Can anyone help with the appropriate FAQ or some advice?

I'm sorry to be so clueless, but I can get to A, just not always B. I also feel the only actually stupid question is the one you don't ask.

Hello, lovely people of [info]modcooperative  . I'm here today to ask for feedback, ideas and suggestions.

A friend and I are making a game. It is an AU Batman Nolan-verse inspired game but with a completely different twist. We will be taking elements of video games, board games and table-top roleplaying games into our game's mechanics and I hope that you will take a look and tell us your thoughts. Is it too complicated? Is there something wrong? Have you done something similar and want to offer a suggestion? Please feel free to do so below.

So, I'm thinking about starting a game.

I've got a couple of ideas floating around in my head for plot, but my real problem is gauging interest. Essentially, I'm thinking about starting a game because no games exist for this fandom anymore and I really want to play with it. But I also don't want to go to the work of creating it if no one's going to want to play. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to go about seeing if there'd be a player base for it?

(Fandom's Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon, by the way. It'd most likely be a mixture of anime & manga history.)

Starting a new comm

I'm working on starting a celebrity smut comm because I think there's room on IJ for more than one or two that stick around for the long term.

I'm looking for general advice (if anyone has any) about modding. I've had some experience but let's face it, we can all use help.

Also interested in ways to keep the community from being DOA if there is anything I can do.

I'm also looking for a co-mod.

uhhhh...help. please?

Okay, first time mod here.

I have no clue what I'm doing for one and also I sort of don't know how to develop a stable game plot. I've come up with this weird Next to Normal based pan-fandom thing and now...I have no idea how to put it onto paper...erm...word document? I just. I need a co-mod or something? A mentor? Anyone? Some broadway knowledge preferable.

Help and feedback!

So, I'm new to this whole modding thing, but have been in a few really good games in the past. I even spoke to my former mods, before I went about setting up the game I've just opened, and received some really good advice. I think it's a good game, has a lot of creative freedom available, and I think a good premise.

The problem is, we're not having many bites, and I can't quite understand why. I'm starting to think that people favor fandom games more than original games, or even celeb games. I would love to have some opinions, suggestions... someone to tell me what I'm doing wrong even?

Thanks in advance! And this is my game.

Application Creation

Hey kids. I'm in the early processes of shaping my game idea right now. The premise and the conclusion of the game are all thought out, it just needs some structuring to be able to move from hypothetical to IJ. Thus far that structuring has been going slowly but steadily. Applications, however, are really beginning to make me fidget.

I checked the previous posts here to see if there was a dilemma similar to my own. There was. However the post was rather old and the responses, while helpful, haven't killed my anxiety. I decided to give the inquiry another shot to see if there were any new spins.

Ramblin' elaboration on my personal troubles with this app business. )

So, if you can spare the time and the insight, I'm curious as to what makes and app interesting to you, and what makes it frustrating. As a mod, what kind of sections have you used that have worked really well and given really good insight? As a player, what's easy or difficult to complete, where do you have to repeat things, what is fun to think about? What do you like in applications? And generally, where have you seen a good balance between efficiency and fun?

Additionally, if you can link me to any other communities that have asked this question or that might help me with this I'd me much obliged for that as well.

feedback/interest check

Hello all, I was browsing around and this seemed like the perfect place to sound off my ideas. A friend of mine approached me a couple days ago with an idea for a roleplay, and I've been working on setting up a forum for it...

Then I probably realized I should see if this idea was appealing to anyone else before I got too far. Basically, the very rough general premise is this: a boarding/training school for high school (or college, we haven't decided on age-group yet) kids with powers of various sorts (general origins being magic, mutation, science! and apex normal)...It's a pretty large compound that's self-contained, probably the size of a small town. It's set in a general, unnamed multiverse and will accept both original and fandom/literature/etc. characters. The school was founded by Dorian Gray, and has faculty that includes people like Dr. Jekyll, Alexander Hartdegen, etc. Plot will be largely interaction based (classes, rivalries, faculty romances etc.), with mod-hosted events every now and then.

Anywho, is this something any of you would be interested in? Feedback? And if there's anyone out there who might be interested in modding, or playing one of the founders (would really like to find someone for Dorian as he is the headmaster after all)...please reply here or e-mail me at thegrayacademy@gmail.com.

Thanks for your time!

edit: doh, I shouldn't post so late. I forgot the 'the' at the beginning of the e-mail. Terribly sorry if anyone tried to send e-mails, proper e-mail is now listed above.

Desperately seeking students

Over in X-Project, which is a movieverse X-Men game based on the first two movies, we've run into the perennial problem of not having a lot of students. This crops up every two or three years - the students grow up, graduate and for whatever reason, we don't have a lot of replacements. We advertise fairly regularly (about once every two weeks) and push the student line, but we're still down to about eight active student PCs.

As players and mods of school-based games of whatever kind, how do you address this issue? Increasing the character limit is something that's been raised, but the general feeling is that it's a stop-gap method, since it's not actually bringing in new blood and just spreading the existing activity around.

My First Game...

So...I have this awesome idea for a Disney based game.   [info]fantasyislemods

The Premise:
This is a Disney-based Role Playing game, located on an uncharted island 100 miles off the coast of Florida.  It's inhabitants were the inspiration for many of Walt Disney's most beloved fairy tales.  Walt, at the age of 19, was out sailing and got caught in a rainstorm.  He washed up on the shores of Fantasy Isle, where he became inspired by all of the unique people he met.  Walt kept a journal of all the people he met, his creative mind spinning fairy tales that he couldn't wait to delve into.  He spent two years on Fantasy Isle, before finding a way to return to Florida and his Studio.  Before he left, however, he made one wish.  He wished with all his heart that the Isle would never be found by anyone else, so long as he was alive.   He continued to return every month, for the rest of his life.

It is now January 1st, 1967, exactly sixteen days after Walt Disney died.  The Isle's inhabitants could feel a change in the air as they celebrated the holiday season.  Walt was due to arrive that very day, as he did every year since he landed on the Isle, but he never showed up.  There have been subtle changes in the Isle.  The weather has begun to change, the snow melting practically overnight.  Fear begins to spread through the inhabitants and no one knows what will come next.

Who knows...could this be the end of Fantasy Isle?

The idea is that there is one King over all the island, Perseus, who is based off King Triton, and the other royals are all related to him.  His sister, Ursula, would probably be the main protagonist.  I'm in desperate need of someone who's really good with web-page design, html coding, and graphics in general.  I'd also really love a more experienced player to co-mod with me in a serious capacity.  I give 150% into everything I do, and this game I'll give 200%.  I really want to get this game going as soon as possible, preferably by September.  Please message me by email (misfitlaydee@gmail.com) or leave a comment here.  Thank you!

OK, I've had this idea bouncing around in my head for a bit now. There is definitely a criminal/dark side to the Wizarding World, those who hang about in Knockturn for instance. Not every one of them is a Death Eater though. Some are petty criminals, others conmen and most of them only looking out for themselves. There must be some sort of hierarchy to this world. What I was thinking was of an RP set in that world, sort of like The Sopranos meets Harry Potter.

I'm thinking it'd work better as a shorter game, more of a "the game ends when x,y and z happens" rather than "it ends until we get tired of it". There'd be an overarching plot (unsure what yet), but a lot of decisions could be made by the players. Like if this capo were to get whacked or that gang to be taken over, etc.

What do you all think? Would there be interest in a game like this? Does anyone have any ideas as to the overarching plot, or want to mod it/set it up with me? Any help would be appreciated!

I'm looking for someone to help me out running a dark next gen game. I know there are tons out there but my approach is a bit different. I want to run a next gen game centered around the Dark Lord winning on May 2end, killing the trio and then marrying off known DA's/OOTP to known DE's to keep things in line. I have more to the plot and if you would like to find out more and help me moderate this game please comment here or msg me on aim @ writtingwithink.

Thank you and I hope someone is interested in helping me.

Heya! Just wondering if I could maybe get someone to help me with coding/making things pretty in my new game. I just want help with all the coding though, not a co-mod, simply because in my experience I don't work well with another co-mod (and they steal the game and move all the players with them, including my months of hard work). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Coding question

Hopefully this is the right place to post this question?

I think I've seen it before... where when you click the "friend all" button, it also automatically locks/privates the journal so that every post it makes is friends only?

Or am I just imagining it...? (Which is entirely possible.)

Also, is it possible to set posts in a community to automatically be friends only?
