There have been some IC conversations leading to this, and there will be at least one more to come, but I wanted to give everyone a heads up. Kitty intends to step down from leading the Defense Force and step away from it entirely for the time being. Jack is not interested in taking over, so she isn't going to just leave it to anyone. She will make a post directly to the current members. I don't know exactly what form that will take yet. She'll probably go through some of what she sees as problems and challenges for the force. Maybe suggest an election if one or more people are interested in the position since she got her position by popular vote. She will probably also suggest the option of dissolving it.

If it does end, you can also think of it as a beginning where something or various somethings might grow in it's place.

Feel free to discuss here if you like. Nothing will move on it ICly from her end this dayweek for obvious reasons. (She's 12 and doesn't know any of you right now.) I'll try to get something up next dayweek depending on how timing works out.

I ended up writing it with more of an ending than I originally anticipated, but I think that's more helpful with having a direction moving forward than being in limbo while IC discussions play out. It does NOT mean it can't be restarted or that different, similar things couldn't be started instead.

Hello fellow denizens of Marina. This is Q here.

I just wanted to give you an update. Since Euphie has left the game, Lyle here will be taking over running Marina Academy, Euphie's legacy.

Marina Academy is always looking for more teachers on different subjects. If you think your character would like to share their wisdom with others then they can teach a class! Or if they just want to help out, that's fine too.

Since I seriously don't have time to thread out a load of Jack ass-wrestling, but would dearly love for him (and his opponents and spectators) to be able to talk/laugh/brag about it afterwards, is there anyone who'd like to handwave they'd been wrestling with him at the Renaissance fair?

(For those, like me, who'd never heard of it before, it seems that it's basically like arm-wrestling except with legs, and the first to get his/her opponent's leg down wins. I can definitely see Jack having a field-day with this one!)

Any volunteers? :-)

Hey! We want your ideas! You! Yes, you! We have things scheduled up through 4th wall and then your mods will go into their secret laboratory and cook up more ideas for the game, but we want your feedback!

What are your ideas? What new things would you like to see? What old things would you like to see again? Have an idea for a character-driven dome-wide event? We want to hear that too and help you get on the schedule!

We can't promise we'll do everything suggested or do them quickly since we like to keep a balance of variety and leave some time open for characters to be inspired to do their own things, but we do want to hear your ideas!

So, yeah. I have a weird thing to ask. Does anyone want to kill Piper during the event? I'm not sure if we have anyone in dome to actually step up and do it, but there are other ways this could happen, like exploration in Sector 6 gone wrong... etc. I'm open to ideas.

Mainly because, being married to Sam means she has to die. ^_^;;; Poor Sam.

So, you know the Pearl event which was the even that wouldn't end. It just goes on and on, my friend? Well, I'd like to CRUSH it. And by crush it I just mean expose it. People could still be unable/unwilling to get rid of their pearls because my precious.

Before this happens I wanted to toss up a post for the sake of plotting and warning. THIS IS THAT POST!

• Please let me know if you had some thing you wanted to accomplish before some jerk is spilling the pearl beans on the network. (And your timetable so movement can happen.)

• Tell me if you're like, "omg! I was about to do just that!" I'm going to be 10,000% okay with you doing it instead or it being a joint post if our characters would do that. For the record I could pretty safely do this with Sam or Kitty.

• Remember when I said I could do it with Sam? (Not that the post.) It has been awhile since he had something spark this topic and none of it was super clear cut and a run in with someone with a pearl where it could be visible and they're acting noticeably strange could help kick this off if there is a taker. I'd rather do it with him than Kitty since she just had a post.

• Any other related thoughts! Let me have them. Probably related to this topic, but I also like cats, so whatever.

I'd like to get this done soon. Probably this week, but I'm cool with waiting if people have stuff they want it to wait for aaaand go!

EDIT: I am hiatusing this weekend as I'll be without internet/preoccupied Friday - Monday, so instead of posting only to ignore the tags for several days, I'll post when I return next dayweek!

( What was once lost... )

TL;DR

- Piper is casting a spell that finds lost things.
- The spell will misfire and cause lost things (things only! no people!) that were already in the game to start appearing all over. Nothing that has not previously been in the game and nothing that used to belong to a dropped character that was lost when the character disappeared from the dome!
- These things can be anything from dyed hair going back to natural colors to misplaced pens to lost jewelry.
- Piper will finally be able to cast the reversal spell early the next morning.
- The reversal spell will only make the items that weren't important be lost again. Anything your character found as a result of the spell that they want to keep can be kept.

This event will be starting TOMORROW, September 1st for Day 287, and will be finished when Piper can cast the spell at the early on the morning of Day 288, next Sunday night into next Monday morning.

Two years in the making and the day has finally come: on day 280 Spike is getting his groove soul back, exactly 100 days after his arrival in Marina.This post is for organising the endgame of this long-spanning plot, as well as summing up past events in case someone missed something or simply want to look back with pride on how it all went down. Needless to say there’ll be a lot of information in this post, but I'll try to keep it as neatly organised and clean as I possibly can.

Questions? Comments? Concerns? This is the place to get all of that out, as well as plot out whatever it is you'd like to do with this final stage of the plot. I'm forever grateful that so many showed interest in playing this out with me — it’s gone way beyond my wildest fantasies and turned out so much better than the vague ideas I had when I first apped Spike two years ago. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Just to let those I haven't already spoken to know: I'm going to be away in Corfu for the next week. I may have internet for some of the time, but am not really anticipating managing more than the odd tag. I will be back in England late on Monday 2 June but it's likely to be another day or two before I really get back into tagging.

In the meantime, feel free to have your characters discuss the Spike case amongst themselves - the ladies who've offered magical assistance with the ensouling could get together and look at the spell(s) Jack's found, and the Defence Force could possibly look into pooling together enough rehabilitation points to earn Spike's soul back.

Obviously we'll have to handwave Jack feeding back to the DF about his encounter with Spike, because he wouldn't be able to do that until next dayweek when everyone's awake again. If anyone wants to play out any conversations about that (or anything) I am very happy to do so once I'm back, and backdate them if necessary. :-)

The Defense Force has a new feature! It's the daily activities log. This gives some details of daily occurrences in the life of a Defense Force member both in general and specific to each dayweek.

It needs YOU! Each week at Sunday Speakeasy there will be a Defense Force thread with details about what happened that dayweek. There may be some starter details in it, but we need everyone else's input too.

Maybe your character was sick and called in or didn't show up for duty. We need to know that because our characters would know! Maybe your character stopped a fist fight or has an idea for something the investigative team should be checking out. Comment to the Defense Force thread on the Sunday Speakeasy to let us know all of it! This way our characters can be more informed when they talk about what they do on the Defense Force.

Player event: Feelings Roulette AKA Emotion Potion AKA DGM-science ruins lives

As people may be aware, Bak and Komui from the D.Gray-Man canon are scientist-magicians responsible for all sorts of unbelievable things. They don't just make robots that crave coffee and rampage, they also turn people into zombies! (Some longer term dome residents may remember Komui from such events as the great snow-in, the happiness event, and the kitty-ears extravaganza.)

After the kissing event made Bak break out in hives repeatedly, he was determined to get it off his mind -- and certain other people's. Unfortunately, Komui messed with his formula and what was supposed to get rid of heavy feelings now does just the opposite, and whoops! Bak's accidentally letting it loose into the dome.

Feel free to use this post for plotting! We envisioned that this event would let us access different sides of our characters and explore new sides to our CR. (For example, Lena wants to explore Lacus being extremely jealous, since that's not something Lacus usually feels.) Also, we thought this event could be an excuse to tag new people whom you may have never threaded with, for insular or not very social characters to maybe kick-start some new CR. So if there's a specific thing(s) you want to explore with your character, feel free to indicate that and see who's interested in playing it out with you!

I'm not planning on playing out the beach volleyball match, because that sounds like really boring RP to me, but I thought maybe the people involved (or anyone else!) could comment here if there's anything they'd like to have happened during it, e.g. the score/outcome, funny accidents, what your character wore, comments on how hot Jack looked, etc. etc. ? *g*

Also if anyone wants to note that their character came to watch or anything?

Then everyone will be able to talk about it afterwards, e.g. at the fair or dance, and know what happened!

I think the teams are as follows:

1. Jack, the Doctor, Touma
2. Kitty, Rebecca, Rose (I'm assuming Rose is okay with it?)

Duo will be keeping score.
And Ianto will probably be around somewhere. :-)

For the record, Jack will be wearing swimwear – bright blue Speedos that don't really leave much to the imagination, but he will at least be wearing something! *g*

Specifically, the thing is that Thirianna is a farseer. This means that she has powerful psychic abilities (obviously toned down in Marina). Now, you might be asking, what does this mean for your character?

WELL. Thiranna is both telepathic and a seer. If you would like to opt in to Thirianna being able to peek into your character's mind, please let me know. The more interesting thing, though, is her seer abilities. Canonically, she spends a lot of time looking at and trimming possible futures. Do you want Thirianna to make a prophecy for your character? Might your character want assistance bringing something to pass? This is a thing that can be done. Please, let me know if you'd like to do this!

Apologies for being so late in getting this up! I waited until now so that newbies could partake. :3

For anyone not aware, the Defense Force is a group of inmates who banded together to protect others from fights or emergencies or what have you. At the former Marina, the DF had Warden sponsorship: in order to get in, you had to give the Warden permission to share your confidential and all-telling profile with the leader; the DF had a fancy schmancy monitoring system so they could get alerted to plummeting life signs or fights without needing people to use the network to call for help. Also, the Warden provided accepted members with weapons of their choosing. Well, in Marina Nova there's no more Warden help and it's a whole new ball game!

So, it's pretty clear that the DF is going to need a new game plan. This puts a lot of IC changes on the table. Lacus has ICly suggested that the DF reorganize, elect new leadership, and take suggestions into account. So, here's what I'm thinking of doing for leader elections! I am totally open to suggestions for how to do this better; consider this a rough first draft that is begging for your red pens. <3

That being said, she and Lacus talked about breaking the Defense Force up into smaller groups—one assigned to each sector and then a group at "headquarters." She came up with a list of team leaders which was done ICly based on who tagged Lacus' post, so it favors Kitty's CR. I'm sorry for that! But they are just temporary. Also, while she is announcing this in an IC post you can always have your character turn the assignment down. Or if the character wouldn't, but you don't have time OOCly to do anything with it, then feel free to find someone for your character's team who would like to organize things!

Anyway, I know this can get messy just trying to figure out who tag and where. Please feel free to use this post to figure out who is going on which team and what you'd like to do with that. All handwaving? Build CR? Have a post? Play on the post Kitty put up? Do you need some details to use or want to clear some you've thought of with the mods? You can do that here too. I'll make some starter threads below and then you can make your own too!

Also, Kitty already called out to 3 people, but those 3 are also welcome to try and turn her down. And she can always take more. I just wasn't sure how many people would be interested so I didn't want to steal everyone!
