327 - Flood Event Mingle
[ Perhaps you're a really strong swimmer. Perhaps you've found a canoe to paddle around in, unhooked a door to recreate the ending of Titanic. Perhaps breathing isn't a necessity for you. Perhaps you're already doomed to drown. Whichever your situation, there's one thing for certain.

The rain isn't stopping. ]

((ooc: EVENT POST! Remember that death is, if not permanent, still cause for a punishment! ))

[And get them out he finally does, grabbing onto the edge of the window and pulling them through. He hauls them up onto the roof, which is solid and dry for at least a few more moments. He has to take a minute to catch his breath, coughing and dragging air into his exhausted lungs before tilting her head back and trying to get her to breathe. He doesn't know how long he spends alternating between blowing into her lungs and pumping on her chest. Long enough to feel a rib crack, to ignore it and keep going. Long enough that his own head is swimming and the adrenaline to start to wear off leaving him sore and exhausted and out of breath as the water keeps inching up towards them. Long enough that, as a doctor, he knows better. Knows it's not working and it's not going to and he needs to stop while he's still got the strength to get them out of here.

The table is, miraculously, still floating nearby and he thinks he can even see the bright yellow umbrella covering Mittens and Gadget bobbing over near where the spa should be. He dives back into the water and paddles over to it, grabbing one of the remaining table legs and hauling it back to the roof.

She looks smaller like this, without the constant outpouring of energy and excitement that makes Chuck Chuck. He drapes them both over the table as best he can, holding onto her tight since she can't hold on for herself. And then that's it, they're afloat and he has nothing left to do, no goal to focus on, no cord or window or table on the to-do list, nothing to keep it all from hitting him.

He's never felt like this, not waking up in that hospital bed and seeing his new face for the first time, not aiming a blaster at his chest or even lying on the roof here in the grip of that pearl. It's as though everything hurts so much he can't even process it or properly feel it. It just is, every part of his being consumed by it until there's nothing else left of him. His entire existence is floating on this table feeling her get colder and stiffer in his arms. And beyond it all is a fact, the knowledge that Ianto came back and maybe she might too, unless that only applies to murders or people who have only died once or any other number of variables. It's not even hope, just a solid, distant thing that is, that might apply to them, maybe. Or maybe this is it. The fact that he's checking out if she doesn't come back is another one of those facts, too. It's easier to just let them sit there, not to focus on them. Right now it's just him and the rising water and Chuck's body and nothing else in the whole world.]
