327 - Flood Event Mingle
[ Perhaps you're a really strong swimmer. Perhaps you've found a canoe to paddle around in, unhooked a door to recreate the ending of Titanic. Perhaps breathing isn't a necessity for you. Perhaps you're already doomed to drown. Whichever your situation, there's one thing for certain.

The rain isn't stopping. ]

That's the only way.

Yeah, he's pretty quiet. Quiet for a haro.

[The blue one flaps at the attention]

Are they normally noisy?

[She felt the urge to pat the top of the blue one, like it needed petting.]

[Well, the haro wouldn't complain about being petted]

Not extremely so, but when they are... they can be noisy.

[She did. It was weird. They were kind of like little robotic pets with cute pouty faces.]

Do you think it's headed towards us or away from us?

[The haro's response :( because that is the only face it can make]

Hard to say. Marco!

[it took a moment but the response seemed like it was closer than before]

Sounds closer.

[She petted its 'head'. Though, as amusing as it was, she felt kind of silly yelling Marco for a tiny robot.]

[The haro leans a little more towards her. Yeah, it is just a little absurd and Lyle is aware of it, but catching the wayward his probably a good idea]

Yeah it does. Can you see him?

Maybe?

[She narrowed her eyes a bit, but he wasn't a bright green, so it would be hard to pick him out in the dark water.]

It looks like something floating over there.

[She pointed.]

[His gaze followed where she pointed to]

Yeah, it does... I suppose yelling "ahoy" might be out of the question?

If that's your thing, go ahead. I won't stop you.

[Though, she might think he's weird.]

Nah... I'm not a pirate.

Marco!

[And the haro calls out 'polo' as he starts in their direction. Yep, it was trying to find them. Though the game was reversed apparently]

[She laughed a little at that.]

If we can get close enough, I can try to pull it in.

[She shifted carefully so she could reach over the side once they were closer.]

Yeah, let's try that.

[And Lyle steers the boat closer to the haro as the haro tries to find them. Finally they get close enough at the haro bumps into the boat]

Haro? Haro?

I think we found him.

[Piper carefully reached in, but the robot was round and hard to grab.]

Why don't these things have handles?

Yeah really. They are kind of awkward, especially in this situation.

[Lyle moves closer to help pull the other haro into the boat, the first moving to help balance the boat. That's when the haro raised its ear flaps a bit. That would help?]

Oh... hey. Look at that.

[She grabbed and ear flap, waited for Lyle to grab the other, and then lifted the Haro out of the water at the same time.

That helped a lot.]

[Lyle reaches out and grabs the other earflap, helping to pull Frederick out of the water and put him in the boat. Almost like a wet dog, the haro flapped as though trying to get rid of water]

Nice fishing.

Yeah... that worked pretty well, actually.

[She managed a small chuckle.]

Better than leaving him out here, right?

Yeah it did.

Definitely better than leaving him out there. Who knows where he would float to if he wasn't here.

Kind of makes me glad I don't have a pet to worry about, too, in all of this crazy water.

Yeah. I don't know how they are dealing with this. These guys float and they are robots anyway. Animals aren't quite as durable.

Yeah. [She nodded.]

It's kind of rough to think about.

[And probably better not to.]

Do you have another oar or something? I can help paddle, at least.

[Yeah, better to ignore that depressing train of thought there...]

Yes I do. It would make it easier to get anywhere that way.

[And he produces as makeshift paddle. It will work in a pinch, but it wasn't an actual paddle]

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

End here?
[info]trytobenormal
2015-09-08 05:01 am UTC (link)
[She smiled a bit.]

That works.

[Taking the "paddle" in hand, she started helping him get them to the island. It was better than sitting in the boat feeling sorry for herself, that was for sure.]
