[Luckily Mitten's tank has proven to be boyent even with Gadget in it. Add an umbrella to the top and the pets are protected from the rapidly rising waters. Phanan sloshes over to the window and sets the tiny impromptu boat out to sea. The water is only an inch or so below their windowsill but the interior of their apartment is already mostly submerged thanks to the water rising up through the building from below. Even knee deep in water Phanan knows it's going to be bad once the water finally reached the window and hits them.]

Okay, the pets are safe. We should consider swimming. Preferably in your sexiest bikini.

[ This is the worst. She'd been hoping it was just like that other time when there was a flood and the lower apartments got soggy but theirs was fine and they could just stay in bed all day with the pets and cuddle. That was a nice day. This absolutely isn't and the higher the water rises, the more she's hating this entire situation. At least Gadget is stuck in a whimpering panic rather than a jumping-into-the-sudden-ocean panic. Then again, maybe he'll float? Such a fat pup. ]

For once, I really don't feel like dressing up for the occasion. [ She huffs, wading across the living room to finally evacuate. Not sure where they'll go but there has to be something that floats that they can hold on to. It's just things. It's just their home. She's not upset that out of everything she's gathered since she arrived, all she'll keep is a pair of shorts and a longsleeved shirt she usually sleeps in. ]

Okay, let's go before this gets even worse.

[The water has almost covered the floating island now. It was a good plan while it lasted. It was a better plan that she had people working on gathering and making boats and rafts and life jackets and arm floaties and anything else they could find and think of. She doesn't have a plan for after this though. There's just floating and hoping it doesn't fill up completely to where there's no air left at all. Even if they found some scuba diving materials there's no way there'd be enough in stock for everyone. People are more or less safe as they float along...waiting to see if they'll stay safe or if they'll all die with lungs full of water. All but a few that don't need air at least.

With things more or less in control back at the island they've been abandoning as water laps up onto it, she goes out to search for anyone not with the group who might still be alive and need help. Her air-walking technique looks a lot like walking on water right now. She's tired—weary—after a long day of using her powers to excess and trying to keep people motivated and protected, so she's wearing a life jacket just in case she has to take a break. She's just as likely to take it off and put it on another survivor though.

The nice thing—if anything is nice about any of this—is that the extremely high water level leaves very little to obstruct the view, so she can move from one drifting piece of debris to another to see if anyone is on board.

She spots two bodies on a table before she sees them clearly.] Hey! [She waves to get their attention.]

[ Facilier never did mind a good rain, but after a few hours it was getting a little bit ridiculous, the water was getting no where and he was not ready for this kind of weather. Wingtip shoes are not great when you have water up to your ankles and you are outside.]

[As soon as it became apparent this flood was serious business Kanji had done two things. First he had splashed over to the pet cafe and dropped Mochi the bunny off with the boys there. They seemed like they were getting all the animals to safety and he can always pick her up after the flood. Second he had gotten his swimsuit because it's way more practical for this sort of situation. Need some rescuing or assistance? He is totally ready to help! Aw yeah!]

[ Reid can be found around Sector 2 earlier in the day, miserable in the rain and, after he's been transported up to the floating island, even more miserable as he tries to put a purely theoretical (and rusty) engineering degree to good use in fashioning a shelter and proper runoff for the water. It's frustrating work and the more the water rises, the closer he is to punching things.

Later in the day he can be found safe and sound, soaking wet and sulking on whatever bit of debris he found for himself. Life is awful. So utterly awful. ]

[ Vampires don't need to breathe. One of the perks with being undead and he's certainly been in wetter, deep-sea situations in the past before. The only thing really bothering him with all this precipitation is that it doesn't make for good smoking so for most of the day he's staying indoors, moving up the floors of the apartment building as the water rises.

Eventually he'll have to get out though, fashioning some kind of floatation device out of debris and easily broken furniture. Good time to catch him if you need help avoiding drowning, or if you just want a good look of a drowned rat bottle-bleached vamp wringing his t-shirt out. ]

[ Despite having never seen the ocean before coming to prison, Aidan is a pretty strong swimmer. He's also a guy who Rescues People when he can, so throughout the downpour he'll relentlessly comb the street for stragglers or fish unfortunates out of the water.

Someone should probably force him to take a break, though, before exhaustion makes him go under. ]

[As soon as it became apparent that the rain wasn't stopping the water was going to keep rising, Varrick got right to work on building a raft for himself. It was unfortunate he had to use supplies scrapped from his apartment and those next door, dragging them up onto the roof where there was room and time, but he made do.. He was soaked through when it was finished, but when the water spilled onto the roof, he sat back and drifted away.

[When you're made of Adamantium the way he is, you don't 'float'. In fact he's a pretty damn good anchor if nothing else, but that doesn't help him much in the grand scheme of things today. It feels like a bad omen all morning long and Logan knows he's a shit swimmer - his strength may keep him afloat in the more dire of moments, but exhaustion'd be quick to follow. His mutation wouldn't let his drowning kill him, at least.

With that beautiful thought on the forefront of his mind, he will gradually progress to higher ground with the water level rising. He knows the evac plan but he's not in a rush to take someone less durable's spot on speaker island. There's something about the swirling water that's making him feel edgy, however.]

[The water, leaking in around closed windows, frightened Shallan. She remembered hearing the roar of water, rushing, echoing through canyon walls, the sound of the highstorm as she cowered in a cubby she had made high in the plateau wall. The water of the canyon flood swirled around her feet in the memory made real by the rising waters of the constant rain as she sat on a table in her apartment.

It was not that she could keep a clear head during the crisis, but that she thought back to Roshar instead. The highstorm had been so few short weeks before, still fresh, and the panic she had felt then still raw. Pattern could not help her here, could not cut a path for her to climb to freedom...]

[She heard Kitty's announcement about evacuation and had every intention of going. There was just something she needed to get out of the educational center first. All her materials and notes about the school were in there. The water wasn't too high yet, right? She just needed to find some plastic bags to wrap them in and keep them protected from the rain. The trip and retrieval took a little longer than she expected, but what she really didn't expect was how high the water had gotten up against the doors to get outside again. She pushed and pushed, but the water resistance was too strong and it was hard to get traction seeing as she's standing in water on a tile floor herself so she started banging against it instead.] Help! Is anyone out there?

[You know what arrows and hand-to-hand combat don't work very well against? Massive flooding. She's still trying to help where she can. She went up to the floating island as they were directed to do pretty early, so she does what she can helping put together the shelter and rafts. Sometimes she just stands near the edge to peer down below and see what the water level is doing. It feels like every time she looks there's something else covered. Once the island gets overtaken she'll be on one of the rafts she helped make, bobbing along, and still trying to help if she can, but also pretty cold and soaked with the rain still coming down on them throughout it all.]

[Sam clearly should have spent more time at the beach in his life. Ghosts just usually have a thing for hanging out in creepy, old houses instead though. That doesn't mean he isn't a strong swimmer though. He hung back from heading up to the island. He wanted to make sure everyone else was out first and with waters rising quickly that meant going from wading around apartments to swimming around them, looking for anyone who's trapped or stubborn (like him.)]

[Verity wasn't the best swimmer or the most handy but by the time she realized that the flooding was getting bad it was too late to try and find something to keep her afloat. So she grabbed a blanket to keep herself as warm and dry as she could and moved up to her building's roof. She hoped that was enough to stay safe until the rain stopped.]

[Chekov does not like large amounts of rapidly-rising water. It makes him think of that one time when he almost drowned inside of his room at the academy, and that is not a memory that he enjoys revisiting. Keeping busy is, obviously, the best way to stay away from memories.

He's not a great swimmer, and he intends to make up for that by not being in a situation that necessitates swimming. Chekov gets to the floating island relatively early in the day—after the situation starts looking serious, but before the water makes it impossible to get around—to help build shelters and put together makeshift rafts. It's tense work. Not bad work, really, since he is an engineer in some sense of the word, just... not fun. The Russian becomes increasingly grim as the water rises.]

[Tieria had better endurance and strength than most, but actual swimming skill was a tad bit lacking. It wasn't elegant or graceful, but he could stay afloat and was able to help some others in the process, as long as he didn't have to fight a strong current or navigate around too many hazards.

After helping someone to safety, he had gone back out to see if he could find anyone else, and ended up in one such place. Now, as the area settled into slightly calmer waters, he managed to find a wooden beam to cling to while trying to catch his breath.]

[Floods could be bad. While, at first, Piper was okay, helping with what she could with spells and freezing water for short bits of time as needed, as the water rose and the situation looked worse and worse, she started to get panicky. She kept it under control for as long as she could, but the idea of drowning was a very bad one, considering her mother had drowned fighting a water demon when she was very young.

So, in a moment where she lost her control, she'd frozen up and couldn't get out of a tight spot, and managed to get trapped on a roof.]

[Once a bit safer, she was still shaken up, wet, and cold, but she wasn't quite as panicked. She could use some calming influences around her, though.]

[Kitty had been phasing people all day. It was odd, trying to get someone else to understand the concept of walking on air, but it got easier to explain, and even easier for her to do as she explained it. In a way, it was getting to be a good learning experience. Thankfully, unlike some others with their abilities, Kitty didn't tire, so she was ferrying people up to the island for as long as they were there to ferry and as long as the island stayed above water.

After that, she was helping people stay afloat as best she could and getting them on rafts.]

[ Haruka doesn't swim much, preferring to watch Michiru in her natural element when they end up at the beach. But it doesn't seem like she has a choice today if she wants to get around.

Unless she goes and gets herself a conveyance.

So now she's found herself, transformed and doggedly pressing forward through sheer stubbornness, attempting to weather Sector 1. Areas with more buildings were easier - Sailor Uranus has no problem jumping from rooftop to rooftop - but here....here, there was an ocean already. Still, kayaks float. If there were any in the fitness center, shouldn't they be around...? ]

Shoot.

[ The piece of driftwood she's been using for balance gets knocked out of Uranus's hand by a sudden swell; she goes under, gasping water where she needs air, and comes up sputtering. Beneath the water, she kicks off her boots. It's not enough, is it? She has to find something else to cling to, and fast.

After all her talk about loving "the ocean", this is not how she's gonna go. ]

[A little rain wasn't anything to be worried about. When the water showed no signs of stopping though, Mal started to worry. It didn't take long before he sloshed his way through the water to one of the shops and found a decent enough looking raft. It'd hold two comfortable enough.

He made his way back to the apartments and banged on Inara's door.]
