327 - Flood Event Mingle
[ Perhaps you're a really strong swimmer. Perhaps you've found a canoe to paddle around in, unhooked a door to recreate the ending of Titanic. Perhaps breathing isn't a necessity for you. Perhaps you're already doomed to drown. Whichever your situation, there's one thing for certain.

The rain isn't stopping. ]

((ooc: EVENT POST! Remember that death is, if not permanent, still cause for a punishment! ))

[Um!] Wh-what do you think you're doing!? [It sounds better in his head, without the chattering teeth and being all exhausted. He tries wiggling free, but that takes so much effort. And what are the chances he'll end up dropped instead of just set down?]

[ Pretty high, actually. Just let him do this and keep your mouth shut about it. ] Moving you to someplace where people'll notice if you drown.

Oh, good. My death will be witnessed. [He stops fighting. He's not going to say anything. He won't even say thank you, even though this is above and beyond.]

That's more than most people can say for themselves. [ Now that he's stopped struggling, Spike is free to tuck him in against his chest. It's a protective sort of gesture, stemming from decades of doing the very same thing for Dru. Don't read too much into it. ]

Yeah. I know. [The deaths he felt earlier today resurface. He hadn't forgotten them. Especially not Chuck. It had been easier to throw himself into helping with the cause than break down.

He doesn't how to read into the gesture, other than it confuses him, but he feels safe. He settles into it, turning his face toward Spike and breathing.]

[ Nico is light as a feather and although Spike would fight tooth and nail to deny that this is anything other than a rare spot of decent behaviour for him, there's more to it than that. They have a few things in common. Nico knows a part of him that he himself can't understand most days and even more so, this is the best he can do to atone for what he did. That soul is searing a hole through his chest and this lessens the pain a little bit. Makes it bearable.

He continues to walk in silence, keeping the boy close until he can find a safe spot. Maybe even a dry spot where he can lay him down and then linger close by until someone else comes along to make sure Nico isn't left behind to drown. ]
