327 - Flood Event Mingle
[ Perhaps you're a really strong swimmer. Perhaps you've found a canoe to paddle around in, unhooked a door to recreate the ending of Titanic. Perhaps breathing isn't a necessity for you. Perhaps you're already doomed to drown. Whichever your situation, there's one thing for certain.

The rain isn't stopping. ]

((ooc: EVENT POST! Remember that death is, if not permanent, still cause for a punishment! ))

About the same as you, probably. I won't stay too close; we don't need to drown each other.

I'm not going to let you drown. [ No discussion. With all their talks on whether or not it was better for Nathan to die way back when, this isn't how that's going to be settled. ]

It wouldn't really matter, y'know. Drowning. I'd just come back.

Nathan, listen to me. I'm not going to let you drown. Even if you come back, don't take this lightly. [ So stern. ] Dying is a big deal. Trust me on that.

I get it, it's a big deal, whatever. It's not like I'm gonna try to drown.

It's just... dying was supposed to be a way to make everything stop. Now that it's not, what happens if things get bad?

We'll figure out a better way to handle it. [ Which was always the plan, really. Death was a last resort. ]

[Nathan still doesn't see any better ways—or, now that dying seems to be off the table, any ways at all. It's not that pressing since he has been relatively in control for a couple of weeks now, but...

But in the midst of a biblical flood is not the time to demand solutions from Reid. Nathan's been doing well. He'll just keep that up. Easy.]

Can I do anything to help?

[ He has been doing well. Well enough for Reid to think that maybe it's not as hopeless as Gideon made it seem like back in the day. That Nathan is offering to help is another step in the right direction and he musters up a small smile in thanks. ]

I think the drainage will work for now. We need to gather up material to build rafts, so if you could get started on that it would be great.

Okay. Sure, I can do that.

[He's eager to be helpful, even if he doesn't have any skills that are particularly useful in this situation. This is good. He and Reid are good, and if he's busy hauling debris around, he won't have time to get lost in unpleasant thoughts.]
