You're part metal and you have to keep you and her balanced on a table while you move through a debris field. Wear it. [Pulling it off and handing it over.] I'll do what I can about clearing the path. [It's exactly because she doesn't think he's concerned that she wants him wearing it. If she goes under she's going to fight like hell to get back up. She doubts that's true of him and she doesn't want to lose him.]

[She tenses, watching the display before her, considering trying to stop him, but it seemed like the activity was contained away from others. And then there was a large boat with enclosed areas. Some place that would really be dry. Well, no more than damp. It wasn't sinking...yet?] Let's check it out. [She knows Ton wouldn't be in the exploring mood. She's not really either, but if she can get them inside then she won't have to worry about him slipping into the water. She hopes. Some days you just have to put your faith in the mysterious, magically appearing ship.]

[Alright, it's weird, and so is the fact that they start levitating up to the boat. That's definitely weird. Normal everyday Phanan would be having a field day with this. Instead he just hangs on until suddenly they're laying one the deck, or whatever it is considering it seems to be made out of buildings. Even the table is still here but he doesn't move to let go of it. Maybe it's shock or the fact that he's too far gone past anything to care, to think about letting go or getting somewhere dry and out of the rain. He's shivering frantically after so long in the water and still clinging to Chuck and the kriffing table that got her stuck in the first place.]

[She did not expect the levitation. She tenses as he manages to ensnare her even in her phased form. Magic is the worst sometimes. Still, it's taking her exactly where she intended the three of them to go and it's a lot easier than trying to climb aboard. She tries to take in the surroundings. Rain is still coming down on them out on the makeshift deck, but she gets to her feet and phases her head into the structure on top. It's dark inside, but it's also dry. Well, damp, but there's no rain. Maybe she could even find blankets? That might be too much to hope for as she rubs her arms and heads back to Ton.]

Can you pick her up? It's dry inside there.

[He moves on autopilot, knuckles craving and popping stiffly as he lets go of the table. He's not like Kell or Donos who blame themselves for every death in their proximity. Trying to get that table put had been the right call based on the situation at the time. He doesn't feel like it's his fault she died, just empty without her there. It's still hard to let that stupid table go though. It's the thing he's going to blame if he has to pick.

And yeah, he can carry her. Metal legs don't get tired so even if he is wobbly he can still stand and pick her up in his arms. Normally this is the point where she'd laugh but obviously that's not happening right now. He only stumbles a little bit as he follows Kitty inside.]

[Everything that was in the building Yuuri raised is still more or less inside, but it was jostled to the point of things being overturned and scattered. There's also not a lot of light inside without the power to the building. And while Yuuri removed the bulk of the water it's not like all the moisture is gone so any hope she had of dry blankets is quickly evaporating (unlike the rain). She feels a curtain, wondering if it would be helpful as she pulls it back to let more light inside.] There's a couch. [It's even upright.] It'll be damp. [But it might be as good as they're getting.]

[He'll take it. Everything is damp right now after all. He collapses on the couch, pulling Chuck against his side. She could almost be asleep except that everything about her is different now. He's always noticed that, how death can make someone look like a stranger. In holofilms tragic novels they'd say it looked like she could be sleeping but in his experience it never does.]

Thanks. You okay? [He's talking because he's supposed to, because it's expected. Not because he wants to. There is room for her to sit on the end of the couch though.]

[Kitty opts to half lean, half sit on the arm of the couch instead and nods.] I'm fine. [Just exhausted, cold, wet, hungry, and worried about her friend and everyone else out there.

She thinks about the life jacket Ton's wearing and how she needs to get it to someone more in need or start air walking people onto the ark, but she's worried about leaving him even if he should be physically safe as long as this giant art project of the kid's doesn't start sinking. She could also use the rest so she doesn't become one of the people in need of a rescue.]

I don't think I'm going to be able to find anything dry for warmth. I could pull the curtains down for you if you want.

[Luckily they think along the same lines and when he catches her glancing at his life jacket he figures it out, tugs it off and tosses it to her. He knows she's got rescuing to do. But she also looks as tired as he feels, even though he knows there's no way he's falling asleep.] Get one for yourself, too. [He doesn't care if she finds anything to use as a blanket or not but just telling her to rest for a bit isn't going to work. He's not up to being sneaky but it looks like he'll have to be.]

[She sees what he's doing there. She's touched that he'd have any energy to worry about her right now and maybe the weight of that is what convinces her to comply even if it's just for a little bit. She gets up to pull a couple of curtains down, covering him up with one, before sitting down on the couch properly and covering herself with the other. She reaches out to rest on his arm. It's not a lot of comfort, but there's not a lot he'd take right now. At least she wouldn't if she was in his situation.]

[He shifts his legs a bit to let her get more comfortable. The blanket is cold and clammy but rather better than nothing. He's beyond exhausted but he knows he won't be able to sleep. He's going to be here if - when, it has to be when - Chuck comes back. And for all he didn't want to deal with Kitty at first he has to admit this makes things just a tiny bit better. He doesn't really want to talk about it but he does anyway.] Do you really think she'll wake up?

[She's not sure what to say to that. Part of her just wants to comfort him, but potentially false hope seems too cruel. Ianto was the only one to come back with memories after dying here. Everyone else was just gone. She'd been with Itachi when he died and eventually he returned, and they became friends again, but he didn't remember his original stay. Chuck could stay in her pod or come back fully or come back having to relearn it all again or with new memories. She could be more in love with the one she left behind or someone new. It can all fall apart so fast.] I hope she does. [She swallows.]

I really think she's still alive and safe in that room and that we'll get to her even if she doesn't come to us. [Not that she thinks that would be fast or easy. There are people down there she wants back too.]

[He jerks his head in a nod, appreciating the honesty. At least she didn't lie and try to make him feel better. A choked, miserable noise squeezes it's way out of his throat and he buries his face against Chuck's wet, tangled hair, tears gleaming on his face in the eerie red light of his artificial eye. He feels like he can't breathe, like all the pain and misery and loss is suddenly crushing him until nothing else exists. Out in the water at least he had distractions, had to focus just enough on keeping afloat to keep this all at bay. But now they're safe and nearly dry and there's someone else to confirm that maybe she really is gone and it's just too much.

He's been doing so much better lately between the anti-depressants and just being here and how much better his life is in this place but suddenly it's like that's all gone, he's back down in the dark again, back to that place inside him where everything hurts all the time and nothing ever gets better. It's like there's some sort of huge horrible timer ticking down until tomorrow when he gets to find out if he can be happy again or if this is it, forever, or at least until he decides he's done with it all.]

[She knows how far she fell when she pinned all her hopes on getting Reid back on one day and it didn't happen that day. At least not the way she expected it to. She didn't want to set him up like that. But it's so hard to watch him in pain and know she can't fix it. Hell, for all she knows she can't save any of them. With water this high it might just keep going until there's nothing left of anyone. They should have at least had this time together.

She wonders for a moment where Reid is now, but she pushes the thought away again.]

She'll need you when she gets back. Whether it's tomorrow or as soon as we can make it happen. You have to be okay for that. [Because if you're not it's just another way to lose her. Believe her, she knows. Maybe if she hadn't been falling apart while Reid was suffering... She closes her eyes. She can't. She can't go through that again and again. She's just going to be here for Ton. This is different. This is them.]

Have I ever mentioned how much I appreciate your avoidance of idiotic statements of reassurance? [He'd threatened to put Face's head through a wall once for not managing just that. He expresses the sentiment breathlessly, not really looking at her but also not going out of his way to hide the tears leaking out of his eye. It's not like there's any point to it. And yeah, if Chuck comes back he'll be here and okay and they'll all live happily ever after or whatever. But right now it doesn't feel like that's possible, or like it's ever going to be alright again.

Normally he would ask about Reid and everyone else, try and find out if anyone else died but the thought hasn't even occurred to him. He does remember abruptly that Chuck and Kitty's last conversation involved yelling so he's glad she's staying despite that.]

I don't have a lot and I needed one tonight. or I'm glad you didn't lie and just say everything was going to be okay or even I miss her and I'm scared and I don't know what I'll do if she really is gone. Instead he settles for finding that hand and giving it a quick squeeze.] Shut up and get some rest. You know you'll get dragged out to deal with another crisis in a minute. I'll wake you up when they need you.
