Day 221 — Morning mingle : Main shelter
[Wake up and smell the lack of coffee. You're on a bunk bed. Maybe you're a top and maybe you're a bottom. There are five other people in your room. Maybe they're friends or enemies or faces you barely recognize if at all. It doesn't matter much. You can leave this room and you don't need to come back to it.

You should get your rations though. You're probably hungry. You're definitely a little sluggish of body. What happened to that bruise you got sparing yesterday? What happened to your newly dyed hair? Mystery, mystery... Move along. Find the public bathrooms and do your business with a hundred of your closest friends.

Find the kiosk and get your rations. Careful not to let anyone steal them. You won't get more until tomorrow and the bots won't care. They aren't here to hold your hand. If you get sick or hurt and they deem it necessary they will take you to the hospital whether you wish it or not. But why dwell on such things? You're here now and you might as well enjoy it. You even get a free day today.]

[Waking up while it's daylight is not Eric's strong point. In fact, as a rule he doesn't do it at all. Occasionally he'll wake up early afternoon in the prison, but more often it's an evening to late afternoon activity for him. Despite all of that, he is waking up in the morning feeling like he's been dragged behind a car, an experience he's intimate with. He scrubs his hand over his face and looks around the room, taking in stride that he's been moved and that he's starving. Protective instincts set in and he gets out of bed, expecting to do so with blur speed, when that doesn't happen, he looks down annoyed. He's got one of those anklets that effectively make him human.

And weak.

He hates that feeling. Now he has to find Sookie, protect her and be human. It all adds up to a cranky vampire.

Oh. And he's hungry.]

Sookie?

[He can be found later, prowling about the main shelter, looking cranky and attempting to figure out what the hell is going on here. Yes, he's read the advert, but he doesn't quite believe it.]

[Speaking of no mojo...

Shining Armor wakes up groggy, but gets himself out of bed quickly. Out of habit, he goes to use his magic to pull his sheets back smooth, but soon finds he can't. His magic's been shut off. Again. That explains how ill he feels.

He decides to leave it be for now, and finds that somepony else is awake too. After the welcoming message....] I guess they broke through... [Oh, and the unicorn's mane and tail somewhat more resembles Rarity's than his own.]

[ caroline's going to still be asleep. after years of riding in buses for cheerleading competitions, she can sleep like a rock. thanks to the anklet, she doesn't have the whole vampiric hearing thing either. so she's snoozing away.

[Quite frankly, there are very few people that Eric cares about enough to look for. Caroline is one of them. He's relieved when he sees her sleeping so heavily in one of the bunks. He crouches down next to her, shaking her shoulder gently.]

[ sookie doesn't come upon eric until much later, unable to feel the pull of his presence through the blood bond that they share. she attributes that to the anklet and her inability to read anyone's minds — which also made it harder to locate him sooner, being unable to sift through people's heads as the passed by to see if they'd come across eric or someone eric-shaped. at least she found him, and she practically runs up to him when she does. ]

Thank god. I was startin' to get worried.

[Eric feels half blind, deaf and numb without his vampire senses. He can't feel Sookie through their bond; he can't smell her and she's short enough that he can't locate her in a crowd. He's beginning to get frustrated and panicked when she finds him.

He doesn't waste time with a greeting. Instead, he pulls her up off her feet, into his arms, wrapping himself around her. He's large enough that he fairly envelopes her. He bows his head to nestle his nose in the crook of her neck, taking deep breaths of her, his lips pressed against the scar on her neck.

Clearly he was worried as well.]

[ she hangs on tightly — not because she believes he'll drop her, but because she was that worried he'd been lost to the dimensional stabilizer like jessica had, and she can't bear to lose anyone else right now. sookie's never been the best when it comes to dealing with loss, and sam's (as is zatanna, elena, and others she's met here) next on her list of people to locate once she's swallowed all this emotion that's come bubbling out of all the nooks and crannies she shoved it into when she decided to put her brave face on this morning. ]

I couldn't feel you, couldn't hear anyone — [ she hates how much she hates the silence. she's craved silence in her head her whole life, enjoys the company of vampires in part for the silence they provide her, but total silence will forever be more alarming that it is comforting. ]

[Even with simply human strength, she's light enough that it's no strain to hold her this way. He appreciates the way she hugs back though. It lets him know that he was missed and that he is loved, particularly in absence of the bond which he relies on so heavily to tell him how Sookie feels about any given thing.

Oddly enough, it is moments like this that assure Eric that his feelings for Sookie have nothing to do with the bond. Even without feeling her emotion, her love, for him, he feels such a rush of love that he is almost uncomfortable with it. He knows that this emotion makes him vulnerable. He knows that it can and has been used against him. That is what makes him uncomfortable about the way he feels for Sookie.

At this very moment, he's willing to deal with that uncomfortable amount of emotion simply because she is safe and she is here.]

I know. [He doesn't know how to tell her that he was so lonely without being able to feel her, without being able to see her. At least he doesn't know how to tell her in any language she would understand, so what comes out is a stream of Swedish in a dialect so old that the only other person who speaks it, he taught.]

[ it does the same to reassure her that it's not just the blood, considering she's been taking his blood since he got here — or arrived in marinanova, that is, since they're no longer present in that dome. while sookie is confident in her feelings, she can't help but feel slivers of doubt from time to time that make her question the validity of those feelings due to the nature of blood bonds. when lafayette has those kinds of dreams about someone who kept him chained in a basement... but it's not the blood. the blood only serves to amplify what is already there.

when he goes off in old norse, she can't help but smile. sookie can't understand a word of it, but it's the way he's saying those words that brings tears to her eyes. she doesn't have to speak a dead language to know those are mutterings of love, devotion, relief, and gratitude.

she draws back enough to press her forehead against his, her legs wrapping around his torso for better purchase while he's holidng her up like this. ] One day, you're going to have to teach me how to understand all that.

If you like. I suppose we've nothing else particularly compelling to do here. [ one hand slides to the small of her back while he places the other at the curve of her neck. ]

Everything is very quiet right now. [ he means both for her and her telepathy as well as for him. without vampire hearing, he feels as if he's gone deaf. ] I don't like it.

[ Peggy had left her bunkmates undisturbed, earlier that morning, needing to shake the restlessness from her limbs and clear the sleep dragging at her every step. So it's with some surprise that she steps back into the room, hair damp and towel still in hand, to see that one of her fellow bunkmates is now awake.

Trying to turn on a pleasing smile, she nodded. ] Good morning. Did you just wake up?
