[Even with simply human strength, she's light enough that it's no strain to hold her this way. He appreciates the way she hugs back though. It lets him know that he was missed and that he is loved, particularly in absence of the bond which he relies on so heavily to tell him how Sookie feels about any given thing.
Oddly enough, it is moments like this that assure Eric that his feelings for Sookie have nothing to do with the bond. Even without feeling her emotion, her love, for him, he feels such a rush of love that he is almost uncomfortable with it. He knows that this emotion makes him vulnerable. He knows that it can and has been used against him. That is what makes him uncomfortable about the way he feels for Sookie.
At this very moment, he's willing to deal with that uncomfortable amount of emotion simply because she is safe and she is here.]
