Day 221 — Morning mingle : Main shelter
[Wake up and smell the lack of coffee. You're on a bunk bed. Maybe you're a top and maybe you're a bottom. There are five other people in your room. Maybe they're friends or enemies or faces you barely recognize if at all. It doesn't matter much. You can leave this room and you don't need to come back to it.

You should get your rations though. You're probably hungry. You're definitely a little sluggish of body. What happened to that bruise you got sparing yesterday? What happened to your newly dyed hair? Mystery, mystery... Move along. Find the public bathrooms and do your business with a hundred of your closest friends.

Find the kiosk and get your rations. Careful not to let anyone steal them. You won't get more until tomorrow and the bots won't care. They aren't here to hold your hand. If you get sick or hurt and they deem it necessary they will take you to the hospital whether you wish it or not. But why dwell on such things? You're here now and you might as well enjoy it. You even get a free day today.]

[ she hangs on tightly — not because she believes he'll drop her, but because she was that worried he'd been lost to the dimensional stabilizer like jessica had, and she can't bear to lose anyone else right now. sookie's never been the best when it comes to dealing with loss, and sam's (as is zatanna, elena, and others she's met here) next on her list of people to locate once she's swallowed all this emotion that's come bubbling out of all the nooks and crannies she shoved it into when she decided to put her brave face on this morning. ]

I couldn't feel you, couldn't hear anyone — [ she hates how much she hates the silence. she's craved silence in her head her whole life, enjoys the company of vampires in part for the silence they provide her, but total silence will forever be more alarming that it is comforting. ]

[Even with simply human strength, she's light enough that it's no strain to hold her this way. He appreciates the way she hugs back though. It lets him know that he was missed and that he is loved, particularly in absence of the bond which he relies on so heavily to tell him how Sookie feels about any given thing.

Oddly enough, it is moments like this that assure Eric that his feelings for Sookie have nothing to do with the bond. Even without feeling her emotion, her love, for him, he feels such a rush of love that he is almost uncomfortable with it. He knows that this emotion makes him vulnerable. He knows that it can and has been used against him. That is what makes him uncomfortable about the way he feels for Sookie.

At this very moment, he's willing to deal with that uncomfortable amount of emotion simply because she is safe and she is here.]

I know. [He doesn't know how to tell her that he was so lonely without being able to feel her, without being able to see her. At least he doesn't know how to tell her in any language she would understand, so what comes out is a stream of Swedish in a dialect so old that the only other person who speaks it, he taught.]

[ it does the same to reassure her that it's not just the blood, considering she's been taking his blood since he got here — or arrived in marinanova, that is, since they're no longer present in that dome. while sookie is confident in her feelings, she can't help but feel slivers of doubt from time to time that make her question the validity of those feelings due to the nature of blood bonds. when lafayette has those kinds of dreams about someone who kept him chained in a basement... but it's not the blood. the blood only serves to amplify what is already there.

when he goes off in old norse, she can't help but smile. sookie can't understand a word of it, but it's the way he's saying those words that brings tears to her eyes. she doesn't have to speak a dead language to know those are mutterings of love, devotion, relief, and gratitude.

she draws back enough to press her forehead against his, her legs wrapping around his torso for better purchase while he's holidng her up like this. ] One day, you're going to have to teach me how to understand all that.

If you like. I suppose we've nothing else particularly compelling to do here. [ one hand slides to the small of her back while he places the other at the curve of her neck. ]

Everything is very quiet right now. [ he means both for her and her telepathy as well as for him. without vampire hearing, he feels as if he's gone deaf. ] I don't like it.

[ he's been so concerned, so focused on the more obvious things he is missing, he hasn't even noticed the bands. it has become such a part of him, something he is so comfortable with that it's absence is only noticeable when she points it out. his eyes focus on the lack of a band around his wrist as well and he growls sort of low and inhumane in the his throat. it's a bit odd to hear without the fangs to accompany it. ]

You are mine and I will not allow anyone to take you away from me.

[ in other words, the bands be damned. he doesn't much care. ]

[ if she weren't comforted by those sorts of noises, she and eric wouldn't ever work as a couple because while he is making an effort to adhere to some of the more human aspects of a relationship, he reverts back to vampire tactics when he's scared or worried as he is right now.]

Neither will I.

[ he's equally as comforted by the idea that she is as determined as he to maintain their relationships. he's got no desire to go 'ask' the kiosk for permission to have sex with sookie. while it's not something he feels the need to do right now, it likely won't take long.]

We'll figure out what's happening here and we'll deal with it together.

[ maybe she wouldn't be if she hailed from a point in time before she was pulled into faery — or after, for that matter, were she properly aligned with him and came from shortly after bill was reborn from a pile of blood and goo — but that's not the case. they've had time together here, and sookie's come to terms with what she wants out of life, and that includes eric. it's a conclusion she realizes she might not have come to had they not been tossed into marinanova, but it's one she's glad she's had the chance to reach. that's one of the few upsides to being in an alien prison. ]

Together. I like the sound of that. [ more than she should. it was a reckless life she'd come to lead behind prison walls. ]

[ He laces his fingers with hers. He is fully aware that it is likely that he and Sookie would not have had this sort of relationship outside the walls of this prison. He likes to think that eventually Sookie would have come to her senses and realize that she belongs with him. He's also aware that that could have taken a good deal longer back in Bon Temps. He refuses to admit that she might never have come to that conclusion because Eric gets the things he wants and he wanted Sookie more than he had ever wanted most things.]

Besides, infection wouldn't be a problem. I'll simply give you some of my blood to counteract anything.
