200 — Anniversary Festival!

Happy Anniversary, Marina Nova!

The bots have been busy cleaning up the dome and setting up decorations for this momentous occasion, and by now there isn't a nook or cranny left un-pimped! Bright blue MarinaNova flags wave happily in the artificial breeze together with the colorful ribbons that have been wrapped around poles. The streets are illuminated by strings of lights and paper lanterns and each sector gate has been lovingly decorated with fragrant flower garlands.

Of course, that is far from all! There wouldn't be much of a festival without entertainment and your loving wardens have made absolutely sure that there's something for everyone!

Sector 0 Fairground: If you want to go faster, you have to scream louder! Sector 0 has been taken over by a fairground where you can find such old classics as the bumper cars, a haunted house of mirrors, a more romantic tunnel of love, a roller coaster, a classic merry-go-round and, of course, a ferris wheel.

Game Booths: Step right up! Test your skill and win a prize! Throughout the dome there's a variety of game booths, ranging from the classic ring toss and high striker to kissing booths and dunk tanks. There's also a duck pond game, balloon darts and goldfish scooping game — with mechanical goldfish, of course!

The prizes are all of the carnival variety, including but not limited to: stuffed animals, fake tattoos, cheap bracelets and necklaces, stickers, rubber reptiles, silly hats, wiggle snakes and sticky hands or other sticky things.

Performances: The other way to show your skill! There are two stages set up in the dome: the first one with sound equipment and instruments suitable for a musical performance — or perhaps just karaoke! If no one is using the stage, it will automatically play randomly selected music from a wide variety of genres. The second stage is set up to accommodate physical performances like gymnastics and when no one is performing you're treated to a projection of ball room dancers, gymnasts, modern dance, ballet and similar things!

There are also street performers scattered throughout the dome. You can watch robots juggle, eat fire, swallow swords or charm robot snakes! There's also face painting and the occasional robot dressed up as a human statue for your amusement.

Food: The food carts in sector 0 are now carrying food fit for the occasion. You can find classic carnival food like popcorn, cotton candy, corn dogs, funnel cakes and pizza slices, but also takoyaki, okonomiyaki, candied almonds, gyros, pirogues, egg rolls and of course snow cones and ice-cream cones. The theme has of course extended to the drink selection and you're welcome to quench your thirst with lemon shake ups, butterbeer, mead and malted milkshakes.

[Zatanna didn't watch many of that particular genre either, but she knew the cliche. And knew he most likely knew too. Question was, of course, whether or not he knew she knew he knew. Which left a lot of unknowns. Fine with her; made things more exciting.]

[All of this was conveyed in a single,fleeting glance back at her soon-to-be ride partner, before she "innocently" reached for his hand to encourage him along. Without explanation. The ride itself was about five or six minutes long, given the sheer size of the wheel, but it only took a few seconds for a new seat to be available. The line moved quickly because of this, and soon enough, they were sitting side by side, being lifted into the air.]

[In her partial defense--like she really needed by now--Zatanna really did want to capture the view. The Wheel had always been one of her favorite rides, cliches aside, simply because it was another way of flying. One where she didn't have to concentrate. She could just lean forward, pressing her arms lightly against the edge, and look down over the entire festival as the people below got smaller and smaller.]

[He allows himself to be guided, not sure if Zatanna is trying to be chalant or just really wants to ride the Ferris Wheel. Maybe both.

Is it weird that he's kind of nervous? He gets shot at on a regular basis and that doesn't bother him at all. But it's a good kind of nervous, like that "butterflies in your stomach" feeling.]

[She can feel his eyes watching her, the rush of warmth that came with such devoted attention. Not immediately responding to it, she appears content to watch the festivities below a moment longer. There was Richie. Impossible to miss. (Especially after their latest talk together) And there was Elena, finally freed from the kissing booth. Poor girl. Zatanna figured she might've been one of the few people Veridical had it out for even more than Zatanna herself. And there--]

[Smirking, she leaned back into the seat with him, pointing out a particular twosome. A blonde and a redhead. Both which would be blatantly familiar to him.]

Think they'll be able to hold out much longer?

[He was moving too slow, so Zatanna took it upon herself to close the remaining gap between them, pressing her lips against his with a considerable amount of confidence. She was smiling at first, somewhat proud of herself for following through, but soon became lost in the sensation.]

[The kiss wasn't anything spectacular. They were at a slight angle, which even made it just awkward enough that she needed to shift even more to adjust. One of her hands fell to his bicep, the other, resting against his chest. Still, when they parted after roughly half a minute, she was still left speechless. Letting out a soft 'hmm' of contentment, but little else.]

[He was trying! But as good as he is at reading people, there was always a slight disconnect when it came to people he like-likes.

He can't help but smile too. It takes him about five seconds to figure out what to do with his hands. He rests them lightly on her lower back. Not quite an embrace-- easy to break.

Not that he particularly wanted this to end. But when it did, he leaned back and grinned.]

Way better than denial.

[Not really, because she felt the same way. She'd just...forgotten for a little while. Prison, and all. You know how it is.]

[She had half a dozen comebacks at the ready. Was it worth it? Why didn't you say anything? But, for once, Zatanna decided that words--ironically, given it was the two of them--would only ruin the moment. A moment that was steadily coming to an end, as they were less than a minute from having to get off.]

[So she remained content in resuming their previous positions in their seats. Only this time, she deliberately rested her head right on his shoulder. Closing her eyes, because the view no longer mattered to her. Not in comparison to everything else.]

[Though not before giving him one last kiss on the cheek. Because she could.]
