200 — Anniversary Festival!

Happy Anniversary, Marina Nova!

The bots have been busy cleaning up the dome and setting up decorations for this momentous occasion, and by now there isn't a nook or cranny left un-pimped! Bright blue MarinaNova flags wave happily in the artificial breeze together with the colorful ribbons that have been wrapped around poles. The streets are illuminated by strings of lights and paper lanterns and each sector gate has been lovingly decorated with fragrant flower garlands.

Of course, that is far from all! There wouldn't be much of a festival without entertainment and your loving wardens have made absolutely sure that there's something for everyone!

Sector 0 Fairground: If you want to go faster, you have to scream louder! Sector 0 has been taken over by a fairground where you can find such old classics as the bumper cars, a haunted house of mirrors, a more romantic tunnel of love, a roller coaster, a classic merry-go-round and, of course, a ferris wheel.

Game Booths: Step right up! Test your skill and win a prize! Throughout the dome there's a variety of game booths, ranging from the classic ring toss and high striker to kissing booths and dunk tanks. There's also a duck pond game, balloon darts and goldfish scooping game — with mechanical goldfish, of course!

The prizes are all of the carnival variety, including but not limited to: stuffed animals, fake tattoos, cheap bracelets and necklaces, stickers, rubber reptiles, silly hats, wiggle snakes and sticky hands or other sticky things.

Performances: The other way to show your skill! There are two stages set up in the dome: the first one with sound equipment and instruments suitable for a musical performance — or perhaps just karaoke! If no one is using the stage, it will automatically play randomly selected music from a wide variety of genres. The second stage is set up to accommodate physical performances like gymnastics and when no one is performing you're treated to a projection of ball room dancers, gymnasts, modern dance, ballet and similar things!

There are also street performers scattered throughout the dome. You can watch robots juggle, eat fire, swallow swords or charm robot snakes! There's also face painting and the occasional robot dressed up as a human statue for your amusement.

Food: The food carts in sector 0 are now carrying food fit for the occasion. You can find classic carnival food like popcorn, cotton candy, corn dogs, funnel cakes and pizza slices, but also takoyaki, okonomiyaki, candied almonds, gyros, pirogues, egg rolls and of course snow cones and ice-cream cones. The theme has of course extended to the drink selection and you're welcome to quench your thirst with lemon shake ups, butterbeer, mead and malted milkshakes.

Enjoy!

[She hums a perfect, round note of contentment. He kisses as someone with his passion should, and she matches it for a lingering moment before melting away.]

I dare say it might be me who received the reward.

[It's a kiss Bucky would keep going into something more if they were in a less public place. But he's got propriety--even if it's not much of it. So he lets the kiss end and a soft, pleased smile curls his lip up his cheek.]

Stroking my ego, too? Sounds like you're looking for a tip.

As I said, such things come from the heart. And I would be less than honest if I didn't say how much I enjoy your company. [Still leaning forward, though no longer postured for a kiss. It gives her a sense of privacy in this public place, or perhaps intimacy.

[Bucky likes the feeling of closeness. As if they are discussing something just for them that no one else can get in on, even though they aren't exactly alone on the fairgrounds.]

That makes two of us. I'll admit I wasn't quite sure how I would get used to being in a place like this with no job that needed doing. But you definitely help ease me into things.

I'm glad of that. [He deserves some ease, and she gets the feeling based on his presence in that certain therapy group and the post where he'd been drinking that he could use some.] It's my wish to bring peace to people's hearts whenever I can.

You know...despite how cheesy that sounds, when you say it, I can believe it. [Lacus in some ways comes across perfect. She's attractive, she's engaging, she's smart, she can kiss... Who knows, maybe she is. Too good for Bucky, that's for sure, but far be it for him to point that out when he is benefiting from it. Knowing her, she'd likely tell him it wasn't true anyway.]

[She has a habit of making the most impossible things believable; her expression softens with nostalgia with the thought. The Hawk of Endymion is a loss that pains her still.]

[But it's not her character to wallow in loss, and her eyes settle into warm gratitude.]
Then, I suppose the only thing left is for me to find my way into your heart, Bucky. [So she can soothe it however is needed.]

Have you thought that maybe you already have? [As far as he lets more people go. Maybe even more. Lacus isn't Steve. And she isn't one of the Commandos either. There are just some bonds you can't share with people who haven't experienced the worst of human beings with. But she's there. They don't even know each other that well.

Bucky should be warning himself to back up. To slow things down before this gets too deep.]

As long as we're enjoying where things are going, I don't think we need to question it too much.

[No, she hadn't thought that. She can tell when someone has opened themselves to her and when they haven't. She doesn't begrudge anyone that, however.]

Just so. And as I recall, we owe one another a day's time, do we not?

I think we do. [His grin is easy and inviting.] And maybe we can add a little of today, if you're not too busy later. A little ride?

I have a feeling I could make some time for a ride with you. Shall we meet at the Ferris Wheel in an hour?

I wouldn't miss it for the world. [And he means it.] Don't have too much fun before you get there. I already have so much to live up to.
