200 — Anniversary Festival!

Happy Anniversary, Marina Nova!

The bots have been busy cleaning up the dome and setting up decorations for this momentous occasion, and by now there isn't a nook or cranny left un-pimped! Bright blue MarinaNova flags wave happily in the artificial breeze together with the colorful ribbons that have been wrapped around poles. The streets are illuminated by strings of lights and paper lanterns and each sector gate has been lovingly decorated with fragrant flower garlands.

Of course, that is far from all! There wouldn't be much of a festival without entertainment and your loving wardens have made absolutely sure that there's something for everyone!

Sector 0 Fairground: If you want to go faster, you have to scream louder! Sector 0 has been taken over by a fairground where you can find such old classics as the bumper cars, a haunted house of mirrors, a more romantic tunnel of love, a roller coaster, a classic merry-go-round and, of course, a ferris wheel.

Game Booths: Step right up! Test your skill and win a prize! Throughout the dome there's a variety of game booths, ranging from the classic ring toss and high striker to kissing booths and dunk tanks. There's also a duck pond game, balloon darts and goldfish scooping game — with mechanical goldfish, of course!

The prizes are all of the carnival variety, including but not limited to: stuffed animals, fake tattoos, cheap bracelets and necklaces, stickers, rubber reptiles, silly hats, wiggle snakes and sticky hands or other sticky things.

Performances: The other way to show your skill! There are two stages set up in the dome: the first one with sound equipment and instruments suitable for a musical performance — or perhaps just karaoke! If no one is using the stage, it will automatically play randomly selected music from a wide variety of genres. The second stage is set up to accommodate physical performances like gymnastics and when no one is performing you're treated to a projection of ball room dancers, gymnasts, modern dance, ballet and similar things!

There are also street performers scattered throughout the dome. You can watch robots juggle, eat fire, swallow swords or charm robot snakes! There's also face painting and the occasional robot dressed up as a human statue for your amusement.

Food: The food carts in sector 0 are now carrying food fit for the occasion. You can find classic carnival food like popcorn, cotton candy, corn dogs, funnel cakes and pizza slices, but also takoyaki, okonomiyaki, candied almonds, gyros, pirogues, egg rolls and of course snow cones and ice-cream cones. The theme has of course extended to the drink selection and you're welcome to quench your thirst with lemon shake ups, butterbeer, mead and malted milkshakes.

Enjoy!

I'm a teenaged hacker with unlimited access to the Internet. I can handle a couple of inappropriate jokes.

I usually go with whatever works at the time. See, keeping the same one over and over again means that they'll drown it out. I wand the bad guys to hear it and have to think about it so I get the jump on them.

Fair enough. Just give me a kick if I cross any lines. [He keeps up with her quips so well it's hard to remember his age sometimes.]

Brain-teaser lines? I guess that works. You know, if you're all out of terrible puns, which are of course the most classic of all. [She says it with a distinct flair and a sweeping, grand gesture. Because superheroes merit grandeur, of course.]

You'll have to do the same for me.

I'll leave the terrible puns to the bad guys. Or Kid Flash. [Always razzing his bro.]

[Oh man, if a teenager outdoes her in innuendo she might begin to question her flirtability.]

Fair enough. So what might our young, agile hero say here and now to strike hear into the hearts of carnival-goers?

Probably generic lines like: "It's all fun and games until a thirteen-year-old kicks your butt" or something like that.

It's probably more intimidating after they've been beaten up. But I'll take my own word for that, of it's okay.

Don't worry-- you're in the clear. Unless you have plans of becoming a supervillain any time soon.

As awesome as I'd look in a cape, I don't think I have the heart for it. Saving kitties stuck in trees is more my thing.

Hey, the world always needs people to save kittens stuck in trees.

So, any special plans today?

[Because otherwise he might abduct you for bad carnival food and rides.]

It does, doesn't it? I'm comfortable with my role as a sidekick. [And then some! Violence is scary and traumatic.]

Nadda. Just taking in the underwater carnival and wondering how many adorable stuffed animals the wondrous Derek Morgan is going to present me with later on.

You and Mr. Morgan? I didn't know. Congrats.

Think he'd be jealous if I won one for you?

[A grin, happy but tinged with sheepishness. She's not entirely sure she's not dreaming that, yet.] Thanks. And I think he'll manage to survive the addition of a stuffed monkey from another reputable source.

But wow, I can't remember the last time I heard anyone call him Mister. Shouldn't you supermen be on a more familiar basis with each other?

[That's adorable. But if Morgan ever breaks her heart, Robin will have a few words with him. :|]

He's technically my superior. I think. And it's hard to get rid of years of etiquette training sometimes.

[Making his way to the balloon darts, aww yeah.]

I'm surprised he likes it. He's usually pretty lax about that sorta thing. Then again, this is the man who I sometimes address as "Chocolate Thunder" in professional phone calls, so perhaps my meter on his formality prefs is somewhat askew. Just goes to show why I should never be encouraged.

[Dick laughs as he accepts darts from the bot in charge of the booth.]

I don't know, I think that's evidence that you should be encouraged. Nicknames are a sign of fondness.

[He throws a dart and pops a balloon perfectly. This isn't even a challenge.]

The day will come when you regret giving me permission to run rampant. [She's a bit of a force of nature when she gets rolling. Especially if she feels protective of you.]</small. Utterly unsurprisingly, you're awesome at the balloon-darts. Isn't there some superhero handicap you should be observing?

Nah, I'm pretty sure you'll come up with better nicknames than all of Gotham's rogue gallery.

[He shrugs.] I could try.

[He turns his back to the dartboard, closes his eyes and tosses.

He still hits the balloon.]

Now you're just showing off. But you're also complimenting me so I'll let it slide.

[Indeed this is going to be one impressive stuffed toy, at this rate!] Where'd you learn this, anyway? Is balloon darts an extra-credit course at Superhero Academy?

Me? A show-off? [That innocent grin wouldn't fool anyone. He's a total show-off and proud of it.]

Nah. [He tosses another.] I work with projectiles so I have to have good aim. Like good enough to ricochet them at just the right angle to take out a target around the corner.

And I've been to a few carnivals back home, though I have to tone it down for secret identity reasons.

That level of awesome is so unfair to us mere mortals. How do you live with yourself? [Even if she weren't laughing, it's way too easy to tell how not serious she is about being offended.]

Hey, speaking of. Why are you cool revealing yourself as a masked avenger? I mean, Spiderman seems pretty intent on keeping himself masked up tight even though we're all stuck here. Is there some superhero code my comics failed to teach me?

By reminding myself to use my awesomeness for good.

[He smiles slightly.]

Well. Part of it was to send a message to the other prisoners-- I didn't know what the people were like when I got here, so I thought if they knew Robin was around, they'd behave. Or at least target me and not people who can't defend themselves. Besides, I was arrested for my crimes as Robin. Seemed only fair.

And... [His smile turns sheepish.] I was a little scared when I got here. Being Robin, well, it made me feel better. Safer. I don't have to hold back.

Huh. The secret identity thing is pretty versatile. Too bad I'd fail hardcore at trying to remember what name to answer to at any given point.

So... what made you decide to drop the mask?

I only have two. I mean, I have others when I'm working undercover but they don't count.

Oh, glasses are more casual. And they breathe better than a mask does.

Yeah, but the costumes are way more of a fashion statement. Not that funky glasses aren't fun and all, but you can't beat a cape and boots for a dramatic entrance.

If I wore it all the time, it'd lose its drama.

[He smiles a little.]

And it makes me look like another normal kid.
