200 — Anniversary Festival!

Happy Anniversary, Marina Nova!

The bots have been busy cleaning up the dome and setting up decorations for this momentous occasion, and by now there isn't a nook or cranny left un-pimped! Bright blue MarinaNova flags wave happily in the artificial breeze together with the colorful ribbons that have been wrapped around poles. The streets are illuminated by strings of lights and paper lanterns and each sector gate has been lovingly decorated with fragrant flower garlands.

Of course, that is far from all! There wouldn't be much of a festival without entertainment and your loving wardens have made absolutely sure that there's something for everyone!

Sector 0 Fairground: If you want to go faster, you have to scream louder! Sector 0 has been taken over by a fairground where you can find such old classics as the bumper cars, a haunted house of mirrors, a more romantic tunnel of love, a roller coaster, a classic merry-go-round and, of course, a ferris wheel.

Game Booths: Step right up! Test your skill and win a prize! Throughout the dome there's a variety of game booths, ranging from the classic ring toss and high striker to kissing booths and dunk tanks. There's also a duck pond game, balloon darts and goldfish scooping game — with mechanical goldfish, of course!

The prizes are all of the carnival variety, including but not limited to: stuffed animals, fake tattoos, cheap bracelets and necklaces, stickers, rubber reptiles, silly hats, wiggle snakes and sticky hands or other sticky things.

Performances: The other way to show your skill! There are two stages set up in the dome: the first one with sound equipment and instruments suitable for a musical performance — or perhaps just karaoke! If no one is using the stage, it will automatically play randomly selected music from a wide variety of genres. The second stage is set up to accommodate physical performances like gymnastics and when no one is performing you're treated to a projection of ball room dancers, gymnasts, modern dance, ballet and similar things!

There are also street performers scattered throughout the dome. You can watch robots juggle, eat fire, swallow swords or charm robot snakes! There's also face painting and the occasional robot dressed up as a human statue for your amusement.

Food: The food carts in sector 0 are now carrying food fit for the occasion. You can find classic carnival food like popcorn, cotton candy, corn dogs, funnel cakes and pizza slices, but also takoyaki, okonomiyaki, candied almonds, gyros, pirogues, egg rolls and of course snow cones and ice-cream cones. The theme has of course extended to the drink selection and you're welcome to quench your thirst with lemon shake ups, butterbeer, mead and malted milkshakes.

Enjoy!

Well most of our success is thanks to him. What do you do, on your world? It must be hard to settle down after all that traveling.

Oh, I don't--didn't exactly settle down. Went to work for Torchwood in the sealed up universe. None of you were there [She says this quickly because parallel universe can be weird.] 'til UNIT found the TARDIS buried under the Thames. Sorta...consulted for 'em after that. Ended up doin' a lot of parallel universe jumpin' lookin' for the Doctor.

It must be desperately boring without me there. How did the TARDIS end up in a river?

[A big smile.] Desperately. [And then she sobers, smile slipping.] Doctor...in one of the parallel universes, he didn't pick up another companion and he ended up usin' the Thames to flood an alien out of a basement underneath the river. There was no one to tell him to get out. He died. TARDIS was just stuck there 'til UNIT fished her out.

Ah. I believe Torchwood London may have made that possible. It sounds like something we had. Oops.

No, it's...it was good. It helped the Doctor get rid of the Racnoss. Just...he needed Donna there to tell him that it was time to get out.

Well glad we helped him in some way after all the trouble we caused. [A little hesitantly.] You were there, weren't you? At Canary Wharf?

[She nods quickly.] Yeah...I was--I lost him that day. He...I got trapped when he sealed the rip between dimensions.

[Her voice is very emotional at that. That is one of the worst days of her life.]

[Its one of the worst days of his life, too, and its obvious neither of them want to talk that much about it. But its just nice to finally know someone else who understands.]

Want to see whose better at ring toss? [It's an abrupt change of subject. He may have been the one to bring up Canary Wharf but suddenly he finds he doesn't particularly feel like talking much about it after all.]

[It really is. Her parents and Mickey had been great, but they hadn't lost anything. They'd gotten Rose back.S ure, she was broken and sobbing and a wreck for several weeks following Canary Wharf, but she was with them. She had accused Mickey of being happy that she'd gotten stuck there more than once when they'd fight.

She smiles, happy for the subject change. It's nice to know someone understands, but she's in agreement that she doesn't want to talk about it.]

Yeah. [And she elbows Ianto a little.] Bet I can beat you.

[He's been a wreck after, as well, but he hadn't been able to let himself fall apart. He'd stayed strong for Lisa's sake, so sure he was doing the right thing and it was only after he had lost her that the magnitude of everything had really hit. Its still hard, sometimes.]

Isn't there a saying about pride coming before a fall? [He gets them each a set of three rings and passes hers over.]

[Rose was very lucky, she knows that, to have her friends and family about her. She didn't have to be strong, which was fortunate. If she knew what Ianto had been through, he would be hugged whether he wanted to be or not]

[She laughs, tipping her head back.]
Don't think pride and self-confidence are the same thing.

[She takes her rings, weighting them in one hand.]

Well then we'd better let the rings do the talking. [There's laughter in his voice, since there's no way he could ever take this seriously. He tosses his first ring successfully. So much for ladies first, apparently.]

Huzzah. [She's laughing a little before she takes a step back and tosses her ring. It makes it. Barely.] All tied up. What else you got Mr. Jones?

[He just misses the next toss, and a look of amused, overly dramatic despair crosses his face.] Shall I blame that one on the breeze or the sun being in my eyes?

[Rose looks up a bit, eyes squinting.] Definitely on the sun bein' in your eyes. [She says it with a grin.] I'll buy that one.

[She throws her ring too low this time and it clatters off one of the bottles, making her wince.] Bloody sun.

Clearly the game is horribly rigged. [He's grinning now. He hasn't actually tried having fun since arriving here - unless you count fooling around with Jack - and after the stress of the past few days its a welcome relief. Maybe that is why he's able to make the last shot successfully.]

[He should definitely have more fun and Rose is glad she could be a part of it. She squeals a bit when Ianto makes it. ] Good on you.

[She's obviously having fun as well, but her last shot doesn't make it. It was obviously a fluke.] Oi. Good for you then.

[He ends up with a very fluffy, very pink stuffed bear for winning and offers it to her.] Please don't make me carry this thing around all day.

[She took the bear, wrapping her arms around with a laugh.] Think it's the least I can do, tauntin' you and then losin' so miserably.
