200 — Anniversary Festival!

Happy Anniversary, Marina Nova!

The bots have been busy cleaning up the dome and setting up decorations for this momentous occasion, and by now there isn't a nook or cranny left un-pimped! Bright blue MarinaNova flags wave happily in the artificial breeze together with the colorful ribbons that have been wrapped around poles. The streets are illuminated by strings of lights and paper lanterns and each sector gate has been lovingly decorated with fragrant flower garlands.

Of course, that is far from all! There wouldn't be much of a festival without entertainment and your loving wardens have made absolutely sure that there's something for everyone!

Sector 0 Fairground: If you want to go faster, you have to scream louder! Sector 0 has been taken over by a fairground where you can find such old classics as the bumper cars, a haunted house of mirrors, a more romantic tunnel of love, a roller coaster, a classic merry-go-round and, of course, a ferris wheel.

Game Booths: Step right up! Test your skill and win a prize! Throughout the dome there's a variety of game booths, ranging from the classic ring toss and high striker to kissing booths and dunk tanks. There's also a duck pond game, balloon darts and goldfish scooping game — with mechanical goldfish, of course!

The prizes are all of the carnival variety, including but not limited to: stuffed animals, fake tattoos, cheap bracelets and necklaces, stickers, rubber reptiles, silly hats, wiggle snakes and sticky hands or other sticky things.

Performances: The other way to show your skill! There are two stages set up in the dome: the first one with sound equipment and instruments suitable for a musical performance — or perhaps just karaoke! If no one is using the stage, it will automatically play randomly selected music from a wide variety of genres. The second stage is set up to accommodate physical performances like gymnastics and when no one is performing you're treated to a projection of ball room dancers, gymnasts, modern dance, ballet and similar things!

There are also street performers scattered throughout the dome. You can watch robots juggle, eat fire, swallow swords or charm robot snakes! There's also face painting and the occasional robot dressed up as a human statue for your amusement.

Food: The food carts in sector 0 are now carrying food fit for the occasion. You can find classic carnival food like popcorn, cotton candy, corn dogs, funnel cakes and pizza slices, but also takoyaki, okonomiyaki, candied almonds, gyros, pirogues, egg rolls and of course snow cones and ice-cream cones. The theme has of course extended to the drink selection and you're welcome to quench your thirst with lemon shake ups, butterbeer, mead and malted milkshakes.

Enjoy!

It's okay. It's not a bad thing. Better than a surprise punch to the throat.

[He nods, then sucks on his snow cone.]

[And now she does laugh, because honestly. She can't manage to be insulted however, because it's such a Sougo thing to say.]

Are you waiting here for me to end my time here and play some games, or were you hoping for a second try at it?

Aah. [He thinks about that. He has to have a cool, manly response!] Patrolling the kissing area to make sure no one gets harmed or touches nasty lips.

[More giggling, she really is charmed by him.] Well then, I suppose I should thank you properly. How might I do that? [Maybe he'd like to try a game or ride.]

[Hm! What does he want to do that he feels would be more fun with company? ... Aside from everything every day.]

How about the haunted house? Or scooping goldfish? [He sure loves scary things, but of course he loves games too!]

Either sounds like it would be fun. I suppose I've served enough time in the kissing booth, hm?

[Sougo nods.] Let's scoop goldfish. It should be relaxing and doesn't require that much movement.

[He pats his belly.] I've overstuffed myself and I still wanna have some butterbeer. Sleep is gonna be real good tonight.

I don't think I've done that before. How does it work? [She's picturing scooping fish with her hands, but that seems an odd game.]

[He readies himself to start a demonstration using imaginary items! He uses his left hand to pretend he's holding an imaginary bowl, his right hand demonstrating the act of scooping.]

You gotta scoop goldfish using a scooper called a poi. It's made out of paper so it doesn't have a lot of strength to it. You gotta scoop fish into your bowl, and the game is over when your poi breaks. All the fish you catch are yours to take home, assuming you catch any, because the fish can be bastards sometimes.

A paper scoop placed in water? I should think that would weaken it substantially. Surely there's a trick to it? [Sougo likes being an expert on things, and in this she is in legitimate need of instruction, so it all works.]

[He nods!]

When we get there, I'll go first so I can show you. You can have my fish afterwards. I'll try not to catch all the fish on the first go.

I appreciate that. [Not a hint of dryness, because she doesn't doubt that Sougo would not stop until he had every fish to be had, if he set his mind to it. No matter how many rules he had to break.] But I wouldn't keep them. Maybe they might enjoy being in the koi pond instead. [She doesn't keep animals as pets.]

[He tilts his head. He's sure she's right about that.]

You can do what you want with them. Better than letting them stay with me to be used for tormenting, if you know what I mean.

[He'd definitely only treat them horribly for entertainment purposes.]

[Isn't it amazing how she takes those things in stride? She knows him well enough by now to not think much of it.]

I'll follow you lead, then.

Okay. Try not to give into any kissing urges on the way.

[He thinks he's so funny buaha.]
