200 — Anniversary Festival!

Happy Anniversary, Marina Nova!

The bots have been busy cleaning up the dome and setting up decorations for this momentous occasion, and by now there isn't a nook or cranny left un-pimped! Bright blue MarinaNova flags wave happily in the artificial breeze together with the colorful ribbons that have been wrapped around poles. The streets are illuminated by strings of lights and paper lanterns and each sector gate has been lovingly decorated with fragrant flower garlands.

Of course, that is far from all! There wouldn't be much of a festival without entertainment and your loving wardens have made absolutely sure that there's something for everyone!

Sector 0 Fairground: If you want to go faster, you have to scream louder! Sector 0 has been taken over by a fairground where you can find such old classics as the bumper cars, a haunted house of mirrors, a more romantic tunnel of love, a roller coaster, a classic merry-go-round and, of course, a ferris wheel.

Game Booths: Step right up! Test your skill and win a prize! Throughout the dome there's a variety of game booths, ranging from the classic ring toss and high striker to kissing booths and dunk tanks. There's also a duck pond game, balloon darts and goldfish scooping game — with mechanical goldfish, of course!

The prizes are all of the carnival variety, including but not limited to: stuffed animals, fake tattoos, cheap bracelets and necklaces, stickers, rubber reptiles, silly hats, wiggle snakes and sticky hands or other sticky things.

Performances: The other way to show your skill! There are two stages set up in the dome: the first one with sound equipment and instruments suitable for a musical performance — or perhaps just karaoke! If no one is using the stage, it will automatically play randomly selected music from a wide variety of genres. The second stage is set up to accommodate physical performances like gymnastics and when no one is performing you're treated to a projection of ball room dancers, gymnasts, modern dance, ballet and similar things!

There are also street performers scattered throughout the dome. You can watch robots juggle, eat fire, swallow swords or charm robot snakes! There's also face painting and the occasional robot dressed up as a human statue for your amusement.

Food: The food carts in sector 0 are now carrying food fit for the occasion. You can find classic carnival food like popcorn, cotton candy, corn dogs, funnel cakes and pizza slices, but also takoyaki, okonomiyaki, candied almonds, gyros, pirogues, egg rolls and of course snow cones and ice-cream cones. The theme has of course extended to the drink selection and you're welcome to quench your thirst with lemon shake ups, butterbeer, mead and malted milkshakes.

[There was something about the nostalgia of the carnival that had helped relax Kitty, shaving the weight of the last few days off. She felt more open and receptive than she had in awhile. Maybe even more youthful—something a little closer to her actual age.

But that looseness tightens right back up at the sight of Garcia who is too close to be easily ignored.

Since the other woman's arrival Kitty had been seeking something from her. Approval. Acceptance. Friendship. It wasn't so much for herself as for Reid which is what made it so important to her. It made her forget how to be herself at times. It made her try too hard, which is never a good impression. At the moment a good impression is the furthest thing from her mind. Kitty heaps a lot of blame on herself for the way she handled the situation with Reid, but she's spared some resentfulness for Garcia over it too. The extra bit of hacking she did. The way she seemed to feel perfectly entitled to know everything or else. The "I knew him first, so he's more important to me" attitude she felt from her. All of it.

So, this time she's not anxious over how to smooth things over or awkwardly prepared to over-share so Garcia will understand where she's coming from.

She just looks at her very coolly and reaches for a cigarette, saying nothing.]

[Wow, okay. She wasn't expecting a warm reception when they inevitably did run into each other, but that's not reassuring.]

[However! Garcia puts on a smile and does her best to be semi-okay anyway, because Reid deserves her efforts at civility, at least. So, small talk.]

Hey. Crazy thing, a carnival at an underwater asylum. I'm completely tripped out. [She can't quite hide that she's massively uncomfortable, but whatever. It's not like it was a secret.]

[Another dig at -- something, Garcia's not really sure what but it feels like a dig. She really doesn't like when people don't just say what they mean.]

Can't say I'm looking forward to not being a noob. I mean, the place will be no less scary then, and I'd hate to get... I dunno. Un-careful.

[Jaded comes to mind after she's done speaking, and she wonders if that's maybe what bugged her about Kitty, initially. How she was so casual and mock-y at the new prisoners, when she of all people knows what it's like to lose everything. How she was glib about being dangerous. How she threw her and Reid being a couple out as a reason to -- well, lie. Garcia avoided that jaded feeling for so long at work, though not without efforts, because it was important to her to still be herself.]

Look... I know things are weird, and neither of us is probably going to apologize, but we were both coming from a place of caring about the same person. I don't think we need to be BFFs or whatever, and I don't think Reid would love that now that I'm thinking about it, but if there's things we need to air out... [She's not the best at letting things just be awkward, but she's not about to be nasty either, as wrong as she thinks Kitty was to hide things that could have potentially been really dangerous.]

We were both there. I'm not sure what to say about it. I didn't like the way you handled it and I'm guessing the feeling's mutual. [Her tone isn't hostile even if it's not friendly. Neutral. Matter-of-fact. She may not click with Garcia, but there's also something about her—some innocence and well-meaning aspect. Kitty doesn't really have the heart or energy to stay actively angry toward the woman. It just wasn't doing much to get her to actively try reconciliation either. At least not yet.]

[Garcia nods, and even offers a mutes smile since Kitty seems to have dropped the hostility down a few notches. This isn't the first time someone has been pissed about her delving into their business -- even if it was more Reid's business, which is a point she thinks she doesn't need to make.]

I didn't, but that doesn't mean I don't understand where you were coming from. You were trying to protect Reid. I can appreciate that even if I don't like the rest of it.

I was. And I am, and I always will. But it's not a battle, you know? I mean, we can both care about him and protect him without being at odds like this, I think. You may not like me and I know we didn't get off on a great foot, but the only thing I really need to know is that Reid loves you and trusts you. That means you're a good person in my book, and it also means I don't want to stay mad at each other when we both were just trying to do what we thought was right for someone we love.
