A group of suspects being held on assault charges in the Los Angeles County Jail staged a riot in the early hours of the morning on May 6th. Details at this time are unclear, but the group seems to have enlisted the help of other inmates to stage their escape. In the ensuing clash with police, 10 inmates lost their lives, though it is as yet unclear as to how. Initial reports believe they may have been trampled. 7 officers were injured, and two lost their lives. At the time of this reporting, the suspects are still at large and considered armed and dangerous. It is believed they might have taken hostages from within the police department. If anyone should see officers Merindez and Cole, please contact your local authorities immediately. Do not approach, as their captors are believed to be armed and dangerous.
