The Premise

It's the year 2004, six years after the war and life has moved on in peace since the defeat of Voldemort in the battle of Hogwarts. In this time of quiet, a sudden string of disappearances shakes the wizarding world. No one knows where the disappeared people are, what's happened to them, if they're alive or dead or even if they left by their own choice or not. Aurors stand without answers; newspapers and radio speculate wildly and the Ministry is in an internal uproar of power struggle and arguments. In these times, Aurors and hit-wizards are given more authority as more and more rules and laws are set aside as the Ministry tries to persuade people they're safe from harm. What is going on? What is happening to those who disappear? Why are some groups targeted more by the Ministry's new actions than others? Does the Ministry know something they're not letting on? And does perhaps the Minister himself have something to do with what is going on? Let your character help to sort out what is real from what is false...

The Game

Enigma is a role-playing game based on the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. The setting takes place six years after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ends and the game is canon compliant to all seven books (minus the epilogue). We are looking for creative and active players who want to build a story not only for their characters but for the game as a whole as well. Speculation, attempts of finding those missing and solving the mystery are all welcomed with open arms. All levels of experience are welcome, as long as you're willing to commit to the game and the events that unfold in it. Game started in January 2009.

Applications are open. Any character not killed in canon or the game are open for casting. We're especially looking for Kingsley, Lucius, people at the ministry or DEs. You must be 18 years of age or older to apply.

The Department of Mysteries has made an unbelievable breakthrough in time travel technology, giving them the ability to send people back to any time in the past, and bring them back to the present only one hour after they left, no matter how long the travelers spend there. Naturally, the first question is how to use this to advance the war effort. A visit to Albus Dumbledore shortly before his death provides them with the answer, though they don't have the information to understand it: Albus advises them to send Harry Potter and his friends back to 1977, where they can search for and destroy Horcruxes at their leisure, without the war in the present taking the time to become too much worse. With that, the Trio - and Neville, Ginny, Luna, and Tonks - set off for the past. August, 1977, shortly before the Marauders begin their seventh year at Hogwarts. Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters are terrorising the wizarding world, with their attacks becoming progressively worse; Dumbledore's Order, newly formed, is attempting to combat them. The time travelers find themselves once again installed in the safe haven of Hogwarts, where they masquerade as students while trying to solve the mystery of the Horcruxes. But despite the fact that 1997 only progresses, for them, in leaps and jerks depending on when they return and how long they stay, it won't take long for Voldemort to realise that Harry Potter has vanished from the world as he knows it - and as more people join Harry in the past, wanting to help and wanting to hide, it becomes more and more obvious that the Ministry is involved. How long can the Ministry stand? And will it be long enough?

It is the summer of 1971 and all around Britain and new year of students are receiving their Hogwarts letters- pureblood, halfbloods and muggleborns alike. Follow these students through their summer and the coming year at Hogwarts. What will happen to them? Will their choices impact their already formed friendships? Will they bend to societies prejudices or tread their own path? Only time will tell.

Tom Riddle, now known as Lord Voldemort to a select few, has resurfaced and is gathering followers to fight a war of Blood Purity. Will your
character join him or fight for the ministry or Dumbledore? Perhaps they will stay neutral. Only time will tell.

The Beginning is a Harry Potter Roleplay set in 1971, the Marauders first year at Hogwarts. All characters who are alive in that year are available to play even if they are no longer in Hogwarts, plenty of things are going on in the rest of the Wizarding World. This is an AU game as you are not expected to stick with canon. Severus can become friends with the Marauders, Narcissa can like Amelia Bones... anything goes.
