Harry Potter RPG Ads

As a lighter post-Hogwarts game set in 2002 and interested in developing the lives of characters several years after the war, we already have over 30 taken characters but are looking for some key figures to further flesh out our cast. If you are looking for a game with an experienced, creative and a friendly collection of writers who have a good grasp of how interpersonal dynamics between characters work, and a couple of mods who encourage player-initiated plots and who aren't totally inflexible and nitpicky and won't make you replace your PB because your character is 23 years old and the actor looks more like 22 years and 5 months or has appeared in a film maybe five people watched once and is therefore too famous and so forth, you may be interested in checking us out.

We're due to start on July 1, 2008 and still have many colourful characters up for grabs. The post on current flats (though this can be negotiable) can be found here, with more on the premise and the different styles of flats available here. Below is some information on characters we're actively looking for and ideas of how they could work in the game.

During the 1970's, the war between The Death Eaters and The Order of Phoenix raged on. People disappeared and entire families were killed by the hands of the Death Eaters and the Dark Lord Voldemort- and the Ministry of Magic stood nearly powerless to stop these massacres. The threat of pureblood society taking complete control over the Wizarding World rose, and Albus Dumbledore created the Order of the Phoenix. The blood shed and the body count between the two groups grew and grew while no progress was made on either side. A red scare ran throughout the Wizarding world; people who were even thought to be Death Eaters were convicted and killed without a fair trial.

The Dark Lord used his intelligence in the Ministry to gain what he believed would be the knowledge that would win the war. A prophecy about a child that would have the power to defeat him, and through much of his own research he discovered this child was born of Lily and James Potter. He set about trying to find the couple who had defied him three times and kill their son.

Lily and James were forewarned of the fate of their son, and managed to elude Lord Voldemort for a number of years- they did not stop living their lives. Not only did they have their son- but they also had a daughter while in hiding. They hoped the terror would stop and they would be able to return to their daily lives, it didn't. Peter Pettigrew, their secret keeper betrayed them and on the evening of October 31st, 1983- he came to Godric's Hollow to kill them.

Things did not go as planned, James Potter sacrificed his life for his family that night- and in doing so he killed Lord Voldemort. No one knows exactly what happened that night- he sent his wife and children into hiding, and as the house fell down around them they were able to barely escape and take refuge at Hogwarts until the storm could blow over.

With the Dark Lord Dead, though no body recovered- the Ministry was able to capture many of the most prominent Death Eaters and those who weren't killed were given life sentences in Azkaban- Peter Pettigrew included. The Potter's had become a famous family, and the fact that James Potter's widow was testifying made the trial a public spectacle. Some of these families were able to buy their way out of Azkaban, but their reputations were not unscathed.

The only trace of the Dark Lord was a package he left with the Lestrange family- containing a few items from the Founders of Hogwarts. There was no note, no instructions- just a few seemingly useless items.

Time went by, and the threat of the Death Eaters became something only remembered by History Books. The next generations started at Hogwarts, and it seemed that all was well in the Wizarding World.

But that was only for the time being..

The year is 1995 when Harry, Ron and Hermione return to Hogwarts to start their fifth year. No one has any idea what is in store for them.

The War has begun..

Join a laid back but plot-ful seventh year AU game! Now casting roles such as Blaise Zabini, Cho Chang, Daphne Greengrass, Hestia Jones, Neville Longbottom, Su Li, and Terry Boot. Harry Potter didn't think he'd be boarding the Hogwarts Express for his final year, but the events of summer 97 made it all possible. The trio, with the aid of the Order, managed to find and destroy each horcrux. It had been the most difficult three months of their lives, but the Wizarding World was safe once again. Safe does not mean peaceful, however. Some argue over the imprisonment of Death Eaters. Others cannot believe Voldemort is dead. And still others are boastful over the Light's win. The Ministry is rebuilding itself, but at a price since the people of the wizarding world are distrustful toward those in charge. Meanwhile, Hogwarts is not the place all once knew. Minerva McGonagall is headmistress while Severus Snape, his name cleared, has taken over potions and Slytherin Head once again. Snape's old nemesis, Remus Lupin, has returned as DADA professor and Gryffindor Head. Yet, no one can forget the attack on the school. The Malfoys, saved by Narcissa's lie for Harry, have regained their fortune, but are relative outcasts now that most of their partners, friends, and acquaintances are either imprisoned or deceased. The world is learning to operate as one, but old loyalties and beliefs die hard. Who will embrace a life where all blood is good? Who will attempt to fight the changing tide and uphold the values of old? Only time will tell, but no one expects a bump free road either inside or outside of Hogwarts. Do you ever get tired of searching game after game, trying to find a place to play your character, only to find them taken?

Have you ever joined a game you were excited about, only to have it die a few weeks later, leaving you with a homeless character that couldn't possibly fit anywhere else?

Welcome to shards_of_time.

We are a game devoted to giving you a place to play that character, whether they're dead or alive in canon. There is no limit to how many Mirror Versions of a character can exist, and better yet, it isn't a purely social game - it is developed around an actual plot. If you've ever wanted to play a character in an alternate universe game, but was never able to find a game that fit, we're the place for you.

A rip in time has occurred underneath the Ministry, and suddenly what could've been is very, very real.

unexpectedrpg is a brand new AU Harry Potter role play for those who are tired of the same old drive toward war torn Britain. With Voldemort dead and his Death Eaters scattered to the winds, Kingsley Shaklebolt had stepped out of the ashes as a leader to bring the Wizarding world back to the proud position it had once held. No one had expected what he was about to do. For three years Kingsley led the way in the reconstruction of wizarding society, but his mind was not as sound as he would have the world believe. For him there were two main issues that prevent the community from fully healing: low population and the dislike between those of pure and mixed blood. Kingsley fully believed that by correcting these issues he would be creating the perfect society. It was this desire of perfection that led to the introduction of the Kinglsey's marriage and family planning legislation. As of January 1st, 2002 the Decree of Marriage and Family Planning took effect. All unmarried citizens of legal age are now required to register their marital status with the Ministry as of their seventeenth birthday. Those who do not apply by the new laws are considered social terrorists. The cells of Azkaban now have new attendents. Those who do register in accordance with the decree can expect an official letter stating the time and place of their wedding, as well as the Ministry approved match. With the legislation all marriages are now a matter of Ministry approval. Who will be your match?
