Community Rules

This comm is open to anyone to post codes, layouts, resources, tutorials, and requests for help and content. Of course, we do have some rules, so please read through them before jumping in; thank you!

Treat others the way you'd like to be treated. This is not a drama comm, and we expect you guys to be awesome and stay civil. If a situation gets out of hand, please contact a mod, and leave comments intact so we can accurately handle the situation.

Please tag your posts and check out the tagging guide if you have any questions!

■ Very long posts or posts formatted with your own div styling for organization should be behind a cut to save people's f-lists.

Work safe above the cut, please!

■ If posting codes, guides, etc. absolutely do not post content that you did not make. That's stealing, and it's super uncool, bro! If you are posting expanded/edited codes made by yourself using another user's coding as well, please be sure you have their permission (You do not need direct permission if they allow edits to be re-posted in their blanket rules.)
■ Do not post tutorials/links to tutorials that show people how to steal codes from other users. Again: Stealing. Not cool.
When asking for help with something, please check the help tags (help: coding, help: graphics, help: icons, help: layouts, help: other) first to see if your question has already been posted and answered to avoid duplicates.

We do not allow game ads to be posted on this comm since there are so many communities specifically for that already; if you're pimping a game as an addition to a regular post, that's fine. (OK: You post an RP code and mention in the post, oh hey, also I'm running this game! NOT OK: Posts dedicated to game promo.)

We do allow other types of community promos if they are related to RP (icon comms, other types of resource comms, etc.) Just shoot us a comment in our dropbox beforehand and we'll let you know if it's cool to post!

I did a bit of searching and, while I maybe wasn't using the proper criteria, I've only seen info or pages for styling the CSS for active anchor links. Currently, I'm using the code from [info]tessisamess' hidden click tutorial, but would like to change the background of the current section a person is actively on for easier accessibility. Is this even possible for in-entry codes?

So after reading [info]tessismess' Flexbox tutorial for the billioneth time and finally getting it, I got some inspiration to create a character bio to post. Part of my process is to create an HTML file and work on it from there. Currently the file is hosted on Neocities and it looks and works as intended there. However, when I went to post and make sure that the code did the same on IJ, I got this mess here and I've not been able to figure out where stuff got borked. Below is the code if anyone wants to take a look at it.

So I made the layout in this journal ages ago but never really used it until now.

I've noticed that the journal names on the friends list aren't coming up. I've tried to edit .pic-poster & .ljuser but nothing seems to be fixing it.

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.... The code is here

Seeking help with this code!

I have been trying to re-color this code for days now. I have gotten MOST of it re-colored, except for this main box. No matter how I seem to tweak rbga numbers it doesn't change off purple! I also wouldn't be opposed to taking out the circle effect in the middle...

Am I missing something? I can't even find the spot to change the black background. I use the find command all the time with codes for this purpose, but nothing I tried seemed to be highlighting it for me.

Please help?

Hope it's cool to ask about 2 codes in one post here...

1 - Is there a current Facebook post code floating around?

2 - Is there a multi-image code for Insta-Stories that you can mix video and still image in? I swear I saw one on someone's journal awhile back now and for the life of me can't remember who to ask. lol

I love this instagram code by [info]autumndufresne, but does anyone know if there is a way to do a multi image insta code like that where one image is a video and the other a picture?

Is it normal for the IJ username button to increase in size on a journal where it's potentially not specified in the layout?

I've run into this problem a few times now, but I was wondering it was just me, or it's the same for everyone else.

i've raked through every resource i could to try and fix the layout currently in this journal, but i'm not able to figure out how to fix the following:

• when i have a default icon set, it shows on the layout instead of being hidden
• the "previous entries" button that usually shows up at the bottom of the layout is missing
• the header that shows on the journal view does not show on the friends page view
• the "welcome to owner" link on the header is not fixed and scrolls with the entries

i'm also having an issue with this entries' html, where i am trying to move the "apply here" text lower to the gray box, but changing the line height/padding isn't working.

any help is 100% appreciated, thank you so much

hey! so i want to make an html page that looks like a single tumblr page. i know there are codes that look like a tumblr search, aka results from different accounts. but if i want to post a single account's page, (for example... only a journal like rpresourcesfan.tumblr.com instead of all posts about rp.) Is there a way to create this without making an actual tumblr? do i need to ask someone for a mock up, or can i use a tumblr unique layout on html like neocities? thank you all in advance.

two strange-ish questions.

1. when using my iphone and trying to make a link the quotation marks aren't functional. it's strange, they're fancier or something, so they break any links i make even if the rest of the code is fine. to get through it i have been going to another entry and doing a copy+paste of functional quotation marks, which is really annoying given i'm on my phone to begin with. anyone know an easier way or actual solution?

2. this is super silly, but. i'm allowed to goof around on my computer at work, totally fine, but there's another employee who sits a good distance behind me. i don't love the bright yellow face of tweak possibly catching her eye every time i'm on ij. the image is just a little much. is there a way to block the image or use a subtler layout for the site or something?

thanks for whatever may/may not come of these questions!

hello, so like most roleplayers on this site (maybe not most) i got all of my codes from ~tentacool, but they went belly up, so i am going to try my luck in here!

i am trying to edit a code where i can have this code (below), but with a justified column of text to the right of it. i know this seems extremely basic, but i can't for the life of me get it right.

any help is appreciated!

Ok. I have a conundrum.

With the layout I posted yesterday I only just realised in hiding the userpic for the entries it's also hiding them on my friends list so I can't tell who posted what. Is there a way to hide the userpics on your recent entries but still make them/the journals visible on the friends page?

I'm working on a new layout over at [info]laceandflora and I'm trying to get the navigation directly underneath the journal title. I want it up and over to the right more than it currently is.

The code I have so far is.

#nav-above {display: none;
}

#nav-below{color: #ffffff;
margin-right:300px;
display: initial;
width:100%;
}

Hey, guys! I've pretty much exhausted my brain trying to think of how to fix this code. I'm trying to make it so the image is flush with the bordered line instead of having a gap of white in between it. The image is beneath the LJ-Cut for your convenience, and I have slapped the code in a text area box so that you can better see it.

thank you in advance for any help! )

I'm being dumb. I know this but I can't for the life of me figure out the hidden divs and how to make the hidden div larger than the home div.

Is my code currently and a live sample of what it does so far is here.

What stupidly obvious thing am I missing?

Ok so ages ago [info]stillskies posted about rp resources & what was missing. From that a group of us have gotten together to make a number of communities. While some are still in the works I'd like to direct you to a couple that I have.

[info]minority_pb - for the lesser icons pbs (40+, PoC etc)
[info]codehelp - somewhat like [info]rpresources but for help with the actual coding of layouts/in entry codes etc before they are posted for people to use.

Secondly!

I stumbled across the layout over at [info]bucky (so much love Tess) and it clued me in to what I was trying to do with my Current Cast which is to use [info]tessisamess's sticky nav to make each game's cast appear when I click on the anchor link.

I looked up w3schools for how to do Overlays as well as Stackoverflow and got the basic idea but they use javascript to do it and that's something I want to avoid. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can do it with CSS?

Is my code so far. I figured out the fade in code at least I think I have? Also for some reason my flex boxes aren't working????

I've been staring at this code for so long I'm going crazy. Halp [info]rpresources you're my only hope of not going insane!

Edit: [info]marlovian coded me something that will work once I get somewhere that I can upload it :)
